speaking of all the metallica and stuff, it's pretty remarkable that Umphrey's pulled "...And Justice For All" completely out of their asses for that late night set in 2004. I know they are talented musicians but randomly playing a most intricate song not written by yourself is incredible...

They are badasses. Jake is amaaazing. I just saw them at Echo and again about two weeks ago.
I just posted a couple shows on the sharing music thread. If anybody hasn't checked these guys out...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say . . . . My Morning Jacket will definitely be at the Roo this year . . . how can they play 4 years in a row, then skip a year, then not come back for 08? I say MMJ is in for sure!
On April 13th 2007, Anastasio pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge as part of an agreement to avoid jail time. Instead he will spend 12 to 15 months in part of a drug court program
Okay, commenting on the rave show late at night...Infected Mushroom would be AMAZING late night. They played Vegoose, so they already have a relationship with Superfly, and their live show is pretty amazing, even if you don't like techno. They tour pretty frequently in the states as well, so it's a pretty real possibility. Armin Van Buuren is also releasing an album soon (or it's just coming out like this week or so) and so he'll definitely be touring to promote that, plus he just got voted as the #1 DJ in the world so there will be a lot of press on him. However, I wouldn't complain about ANY of those people coming (Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Paul Oakenfold, Amon Tobin, BT, Paul van Dyk, etc)!! I would also like Sasha and Digweed to come though...I haven't seen them yet!

People of Bonnaroo need to open up their minds to the electronica acts available to play. The names listed above will certainly be a great addition to Roo. Also, get Underworld to do a late night set.
I have no idea why I am posting seeing as though I am not going to be able to go this year due to the fact I am going to Glastonbury
I wouldn't mind seeing a Zeppelin/Mettalica line-up. But, my biggest concern is that the ticket scalpers would have a field day. Those folks who don't get early birds will have to rely on scalper prices. Which means the average Joe would be out of luck.
The organizers of Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival have quashed internet rumors that reformed rock legends Led Zeppelin and Metallica will headline the 2008 summer event.
Reports circulated on Monday, prompting Led Zeppelin fans to bid for early tickets and more information.
The frenzy has led to promoters to dismiss the reports.
In a statement, promoters Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment insist there are no plans for the two rock supergroups to perform, adding, "We're very excited about the line-up that we're putting together for this year's festival. We'll be announcing the confirmed line-up toward the end of January/beginning of February."
Led Zeppelin will play their only official show in London next week, although The Cult frontman Ian Astbury recently teased fans about plans to tour America with the legends next year.

Yeah. They've pulled that one before. While I believe it about Metallica (I didn't believe the rumours in the first place), they always say "so and so isn't playing". I am excited about the line-up announcement though

Could be posting this in the wrong spot but just found on Mason Jennings website that Jack Johnson and G Love and Special Sauce will be playing with him in Lisbon on 6/26. I thought the chance of Jack playing this year were good but this throws a little cold water on my enthusiasm.
Also, on that Superfly squashes the Zeppelin rumors, I believe the article states the rumor was not accurate. That could mean no Metallica and Zeppelin headlines. Would be nice.

Bonnaroo will probably be the 12-15th so it is still possible. I am hoping so.

Or it could be that Superfly is telling the truth, and Led Zeppelin is NOT PLAYING. Us excited fans need to accept that it was highly unlikely in the first place, and this unambiguous denial makes it even less so. It's the sad truth, but it'll seem less sad once we see what they really have in store for '08.
I remember finding out that The Police were going to headline via live press conference on CNN, about 2-3 days before the official unveiling of the lineup. That was weird hearing the word "Bonnaroo" coming out of a reporter's mouth.
Similarly, I could see Led Zeppelin wanting the right of first disclosure for reunion tour plans, just as The Police got to announce their headlining slot, and any confirmation from another party would jeopardize that. It could even be a contract clause, because if you're negotiating to make a juicy catch like Led Zeppelin you're probably going to be more willing to do things on their terms.
There could be semantics involved. Perhaps "inaccurate" is synonymous with "not yet confirmed" in this case. Perhaps "headline" is an incorrect term, and they'll be a midnight Which Stage show. It might be a bit discouraging, but I wouldn't competely rule it out.

I still really believe Zeppelin will headline. Bonnaroo has an out do itself complex. I see no reason for this trend to stop. Metallica was pretty far fetched. Led Zeppelin has already begun so many recent promotions that I feel a world tour is the next obvious move. Why else would they pose together on the cover of Rolling Stone (much as The Police) did. I believe the inaccuracy of the Led Zeppelin article was in that the Bonnaroo show would be the next show. I believe Bonnaroo will be one of many Zeppelin shows for 2008.
How can Plant/they turn down "hundreds of millions of dollars"
Not that they need money But Thats a lot of $$$$ to turn down.
I wish Pink Floyd could be easily swayed by millions of dollars. Yes, getting Led Zeppelin to headline Bonnaroo would be unbelievable, but I would love to see Pink Floyd play.

How about this: They book Alison Krauss and Robert Plant as an afternoon show (I've listened to bits of the new album, and it's not that far fetched). Meanwhile, The Black Crowes have a surprise visit from Jimmy Page (they recorded a live album together back in 1999). Finally, we have JPJ doing the 'Artist in Residence' thing again.
Headline? No... but that doesn't rule out Superjam....

It would satisfy a dream to see Floyd. With all of the varying musical tastes on this board, Pink Floyd is the one place we all come together.

How about this possible superjam:
Ringleader: David Gilmour Singer: Robert Plant Bass: Les Claypool Other guitarist: Trey or Jimmy Page Drums: Stanton Moore
Ok, last year they had a special guest in John Paul Jones who was not "technically" scheduled for anything other than Superjam. Now imagine if they go the same route and lets say have David Gilmour be the ringleader. Lets say Les is there (feeling Primus will have late night this year), he will of course play bass. For a drummer we will have Stanton Moore in as default (better suggestions please list). Now here is where it get interesting. If Led Zep headlines, how awesome would it be to have Robert Plant come out do a few songs, sing both Led Zep and Pink Floyd. I also think Trey will be there in some capacity so you can throw him in there somewhere as well. We can also throw in an appearance of Jimmy Page in there for fun. That would be completely outrageous. What's your thoughts on this potential superjam?
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
You guys are really reaching. How about this. Robert Plant has said Zeppelin won't tour. Superfly has said the rumors are untrue. Zeppelin won't be there.
Metallica won't be there either.
I know its fun to dream but you gotta deal with reality. At some point you realize Santa Claus isn't real. You do know Santa isn't real don't you?
Not really much of a rumor, but I'd say Back Door Slam is a dead lock. They played ACL and Lollapalooza last year, tore them both up, Ski Jam thus far in 2008, and are touring the U.S. extensively. No matter who they play against, I'll be there.
For those deprived thus far, check 'em out. Guitarist could make Warren Haynes sweat.
