Thanks for all the opinions on the shaving situation... I've decided to just bring a razor and shave gel, and if I use it, I use it. If I don't, I don't. If anyone else wants to, they should post their clothing packing list. I'm starting to think I completely overpacked, but it's my first roo and I want to be prepared. After reading the ones posted, I think I'll throw in a couple more warm things, I didn't really think about being cold. Right now, all I have is a pair of yoga pants, a thin hoodie, and a cardigan.
^^I would definitely bring a sweatshirt and some jeans if nothing else. But like I said, I was raised in the south, so my definition of "cold" may vary from yours But 62 degrees was chilly this morning... and I have a bit of sunburn.
2 hoodies (only think I'll need one, but in case it gets wet and won't dry) Crocs rainboots flip flops 4 short dresses (5 if there's room) 2 maxi dresses 2 tank tops 3 t-shirts rip-stop capris denim clamdiggers bras, underwear, bike shorts, socks pajamas lots of earrings, necklaces, scarves and bandanas
Gosh!! You ladies are killin' me with these packing lists! We've got our little Jetta loaded down with the tent, canopy, cooler, etc. That does not leave a whole lot of room for me to bring as much clothes/shoes (you gotta have extras in case it does pour the rain down, ya know??) as I'd like.. And the boyfriend has made this veryyyy clear to me, haha! I'm going to have to do a big cut-down from what I'd like to bring to what I can actually take. boo-hoo. haha!
about shaving.... I usually try to shave Wednesday morning or something, but yeah at roo i just say EFF IT!! haha... no one is going to be looking my my legs/pits, and they are the farthest thing from my mind at 'roo... who cares about stubble when you're watching the flaming lips?!?
i am packing tomorrow... i did have to go out and buy some chafe stuff, I found this at walmart: dont know if it works, havent tried it yet.
i am rocking lots of dresses and skirts this year- shorts are way too hot imo. i bought a couple of cheapo bikini tops and painted on them with acrylic and glow-in-the-dark paint, those will be fun for latenight!
Hi Ladies!! I'm posting under my hubby's account LOL!! He's not as excited about packing as I am... LOL!!
I always overpack.. but since we stay at a hotel not far away from the farm it's not such a hassle! LOL!
I'm bringing a bunch of tank tops, a couple short gauzy floaty skirts for the daytime, as well as a pair of shorts.. i have a couple cotton tie dyes that are long, but super comfy and easy to tie up.. I'm also bringing a couple jersey long skirts for the evenings with a hoodie.
I have flip flops and my rubber rain boots (mine are old skool black to the knee) with some knee socks in case it's muddy. My straw hat with a brim, and my fave trucker hat for nite time. I have a few bandanas in case it's super dusty or I want to put my hair in pigtails.
Then we have all the essentials we bring to the farm daily. .and we can keep the rest back in the hotel.
I'm a fiber artist, and I really thrive on the inspiration of Bonnaroo for my fiber (I spin art yarn and blend artfiber, as well as weave and felt) Now my biggest task is to decide what fiber to bring to spin during the time I'm not seeing music. My hubby's writing an article for Glide Magazine and he's seeing something at all times of the day.. and I'm not into seeing quite as much as he is, so I'm excited to get some spinning time in.
If we're gonna still talk about shaving, have you guys tried the "As seen on tv" Smooth Away pads? (https://www.getsmoothaway.com/ver56/index.asp) I wonder if that'd be easier than shaving with no need for water. Also thought of the hair removal lotions, like Nair or Veet, but I don't and won't have the patience for that.
I use smooth away regularly and it's perfect for camping. The trick is to rub in circles instead of back and forth. So easy and no water needed. I'd recommend bringing a bottle of lotion to use afterward because it sort of exfoliates. I have absolutely no patience for body hair.
Monistat as a base? It doesn't feel icky or break you out? Crazy? Who would have thought?
It's like the same ingredients and consistency as the Smashbox Photo Finish primer. Silicone which leaves a soft powdery feel, but far cheaper than the little bottle from Sephora.

Oooh nice to know! Those ads have intrigued me, I may have to get one of these eventually!
no the monistat goes on thin and sheer. it has a mate finish. itsnot greasy at all. it makes your makeup go on really smooth and it makes it stay on. its all the rage on the online makeup pages. trust me it works. just be sure and get the chaffing stuff NOT the other products which would be gooey and lotiony

If I find the time, I might just get a pack before I leave too. Im just worried that maybe itll work the first time but never as good after or something. We'll see. I don't think it's too horribly expensive. I just gotta figure out where's my best bet to find it now.
clothing is packed, girls! So excited. I always end up working late the night before vacation and then stay up way too late packing - but this time I have about 95% of it done!
Last night I packed the obvious - my dresses, my bike shorts, my poncho and rain jacket, my sleep clothes, my jeans. So I am like... 50% through? My husband has been dealing with the actual camping crap which helps me out greatly so I can focus on Girly Fashion!
Alright ladies, I'm about to leave work and leave behind the internet for 6 glorious days. I can't wait to see your beautiful faces and fashionable selves on the Farm! It's gonna be a hot one, mid-90s all weekend, so dresses and wicking shorts (or gold bond) will be a life saver! And drink LOTS of water.
I will be at the Inforoo Brunch so be sure to say hello!

I AM SO EXCITED! I'm packed!
6 spaghetti strap tanks 5 flimsy cotton t-shirts 3 cotton skirts 1 maxi dress (might throw in another) 4 bike shorts to go under everything Lane Bryant plunge bras in cotton Buncha socks Orange Merrells Cherokee Touch scrub pants to sleep in 1 men's button up from Target (as a jacket)
I decided on the Merrells, even though they're not the best fashion statement. They're comfortable, breathable, and I can wear socks with them (so I don't get blisters). They ARE bright orange so even if they aren't the cutest with skirts, at least they're colorful.
We start driving tonight! I'm picking Bryan up in Little Rock late tonight and we're driving from there. I worked last night (night shift hospital nurse, 7p to 7a), so I'ma sleep all day so I can drive all night. We'll probably get there early Thursday morning & be put in the BFE campground, but we're okay with that.
if you can't find bodyglide, see if they have this at your walmart or pharmacy
it's what i use and it's faaaantastic
If you can't find either, or just forget it or something. regular deoderant will work also. It's not as good, and you will need to reapply often, but it's better than nothing!
ps just field tested my body glide in the 100 degree heat of Wakarusa. One application made it through the entire day. This stuff is the shiz.
I definitely needed socks. My crocs didnt give enough arch support and little rocks kept gettin in there. I mainly wore them with my sneakers though so they stayed pretty decent and I watched where I walked to avoid huge mud puddles. My crocs gave me a blister so I wore flip flops for a little bit and sneakers, along with the Crocs. Next year, might look into the Vibram Fivefingers. they look sooo comfy.

And we're home! My socks survived quite well, in fact. I wore closed shoes (Merrells) and avoided the mud. It meant my feet didn't stink too badly either.
My main discovery this year: I am not a happy camper. Literally. Bonnaroo was amazing and given artists I enjoy I will FULLY do it again, but next time? It will involve an RV; no more tents. Too hot & humid & sticky & gross. It is definitely not my bag.
I hear ya. I'm thinking to reeeeally save up and do RV with friends next year. I got spoiled with AC accomodations and dunno how id survive camping out all those nights. The heat this year was the worst yet though, from what I've heard. Hopefully will cool down a lot more in the next years.
and btw, that Smooth Away product... I don't like it. I feel like that takes more effort and time than shaving. Maybe it's better for hair that's not shaved often. *shrugs*
Next year, might look into the Vibram Fivefingers. they look sooo comfy.
My little brother wore some Vibram 5finger KSO's this year. He LOVED them. His feet were clean (except for the black leather of the shoes kind of dying his skin... ) and he was pretty comfy the whole time!
I would also like to add - for all the ladies who trusted us veteran's with our suggestions to bring hoodies and jeans..... This was the HOTTEST Roo of all time, and I was really really REALLY amazed at how warm it was at night. I SWEAR we weren't lying when we said it would get cold at night! It usually does!!!! I usually sleep in long pants, a hooded sweatshirt with hood ON, and under like 2 or 3 blankets... this year, I got in my tent, and slept on a damp jersey sheet on the air mattress, wearing capri sweats and a bra top. No blanket! So I apologize if your extra packing space was taken up with sweats and jeans

Okay, Mayo, I was really wondering about that! I'm a cold natured gal, but I'm also a Southerner and with the weather forecast & the way it's been this spring/summer, I could not see it getting cold. I brought a pair of scrub pants & a t-shirt to sleep in, but I wasn't worried. Holy freakin' crap. I wore the scrub pants simply to contain the sweat & slept in my spaghetti strap tank tops on top of my sleeping bag with only a light sheet draped over my arms. It was HOT! And that sun! We sat in front of the What stage for 9 hours Sunday before the DMB concert (that's who I came for) to stake out great spots right behind the pit, and even with slathering sunscreen all day, I'm burnt! It's not too bad, though, and at least I get a serious bumper crop of freckles for my trouble.

Haha, man.. Sooo glad I'm not the only idiot that did this Towards the end of John Fogerty, I really didn't think I was gonna make it, but I was too exhausted/delirious from the heat to even move, haha! It was rough.
I was SHOCKED at how hot it was at night. Usually I'm huddling in a hoodie once the sun goes down, but I was hot Friday night in a short sleeve t-shirt. And I slept with my fan on all night (okay, so only a few hours each night, but still)
My feet also were crazy swollen by Sunday and Monday night after I got home and really looked at them, it almost made me cry. No wonder my Crocs hurt my feet! Even my flip flops on the way home were bothering me. Luckily the swelling went down once I was in a/c with my feet elevated. That was a new one.

My feet were swollen, too! Never happened before, it must have been the heat. My crocs started to rub on Saturday, so every time I sat down, I coated my feet (and the shoes) with gold bond. It really cut down on the rubbing and I didn't end up with blisters.

Ah Gold Bond. ..."Im comfortable with my decisions!!!" I'll tell ya, i was rockin the Body Glide this Roo, but on the super hot days, I was re-applying until it just didnt work anymore. So I'd like to edit my "chaffing" suggestions - Gold Bond when its flaming hot during the day, and Body Glide when its not so hot at night. And throwing my skirt up to reapply the Gold Bond in the middle of a field with hundreds of people just walking by - yeah, it was worth it.
