Okay, this is for my plus size girls: I'm, uh, waaaaay plus size. This will be my third Roo. When I went last year, I started out pretty much completely unselfconscious about wearing my dresses and showing my arms and whatnot, but by the end, I felt as if I were getting looks and bothering people. As much as I want to say "screw it all," go, and not worry about it, I'm kinda thinking of bringing a cover-up top. Anybody else feel that way, or am I losing it from hearing all the fat hate on the interwebs?
I go makeup-free at Roo. Too much hassle -- I could really care less about makeup every day, so why start at Roo? LOL
I will be wearing glitter at night I think, and I've got plenty (thanks to 8 years of dance team, lol) so if you want some hit me up
ALSO - my boyfriend got me fuzzy legwarmers while he was in London! I'm so super excited because I've been thinking about ordering some for awhile! They look like this except solid hot pink:
I'm thinking of wearing them with my pink and purple tutu and a black tank on Friday night. What do you guys think?
That...is...fabulous! Sounds like a cute night outfit. I say go for it.

Okay, so I don't think I actually shared the good news with you girls yet...
I'M GOING TO ROO!
I'm sooooo excited. I can't believe I'm actually going to be there!
I just went out and did my shopping today. Along with stuff like a phone charger, sunscreen, and the like, I got some cute clothes. THANK YOU to whoever mentioned the dresses at Walmart, I got two cute ones there for $10 each. I also got two tank tops, one from Target and one from Bonton, they were each really cheap so I couldn't resist. And I got a bag from Target. I'm not TOTALLY sure about it, but I couldn't find anything that really seemed like it would work, and I was about to give up when I found this one. It's really small, but I can put my Nalgene in the biggest pocket if I don't zip it. I can cram my camera in the next pocket without too much difficulty. I'm not entirely sure if I'll be able to cram my cell phone in somewhere too, though. And then I really kinda need hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes with me to deal with the portapotty situation. And money, but money won't take up too much room. So I'll have to try it out tonight and see if it seems like I'll be able to fit everything somehow. (I'll post pics of the dresses and the bag and stuff later tonight!)
So now I'm feeling more organized about this. I still have to make a tutu, but that can be my project for tomorrow or something. Plenty of time for that! (And I love that "make a tutu" is on my todo list, haha.)
bamadancer, those legwarmers sound great! I just hope it hasn't rained too much by the time you want to wear them, if it's all muddy that would not be good! I may try to wear my tutu Friday night too.
So now that I know I'm officially going.....can't wait to meet some of you girls!

YAYYYY I'm excited for you! That's great news! I need to finish my Roo shopping as well, that will happen tomorrow ;D ;D
As far as the legwarmers go, I'm only going to wear them if it isn't too muddy. I really don't want to risk getting them dirty and messed up.
Also - I have "finish tutu" on my to-do list, so don't feel silly. That's the beauty of Bonnaroo, isn't it?

It's all about you feeling comfortable. You can always bring something just in case. Doesn't mean you have to wear it.
so i made the mistake of going to the mall after work. i now have 4 more dresses to add to the decision of what clothes i am bringing. i need to make up my mind already!

I abolutely agree with Clairity. It's about YOU feeling comfortable. If I start getting negative thoughts about how I look, it doesn't matter how many people tell me "don't worry about it" or "who cares what other people think?" I don't have fun or feel satisfied until I'm comfortable. Also agreeing with Clairity here, just bring something extra even if you end up not wearing it.

I think you are worrying too much about others. And how do you know that they were not looking at you and wishing they could be totally non-self conscious and comfortable like you were feeling at first ?
I am over 40 and not the tiny little thing I used to be. I will be wearing cute sundresses, meant for people much younger than me. I will be wearing no make-up. I will have my hair in braids and I will be dancing my ass off and having a good time. And you know what, I don't give a damn what people think about me.
Please just be yourself and don't worry what others say or think. Roo is a time to enjoy and have good times!!
What's everyone's recommendation for anti-chafing? i've seen post about both the monistat anti chafing and the body glide...has anybody ever tried both and have a preference?

as another VERY plus size (size 26) girl, I feel you. I bought a lot of strappy sun dresses for roo, and I hope i'll have the courage to wear them. I would NEVER wear them in my everyday life, but for some reason I feel like at bonnaroo I won't be as worried about what others think. I have hope for both of us ;D
The fat-hate on the web can be terrible, I also have a really hard time letting it go. If you need a link-minded ear, I'm always here

This is off topic, but Katy Mae, I've been meaning to tell you that I finally put two and two together and realized why you looked so familiar to me! I would see your pic in your icon here and be like "hmm, she looks familiar" and then see a pic on TQC and be like "hey, that girl looks familiar" and I am really slow on the uptake because it took FOREVER for me to figure it out. Haha...so that's at least 3 TQCers on Inforoo (or...Inforoosters on TQC!).
thaks for the tip on shimmer chap stick. i usually have dr pepper lip smacker in total defiance of being 30. heh. thinking of bringing everyday minerals, love the stuff and cheaper than bare minerals. not sure if i will wear it. definitely bringing eyeliner for night time.
oh, haha, did i tell you guys? we were pawing through old stuff in the laundry room and i found an old hooded cape. a halloween costume one so its thin and cheap so if it gets screwed up who cares. for nin, of course.
be careful of fuzzy leg warmers. im picturing your fuzzies all muddy. sad. watch out if its rainy the day before and bring a bag to stash them in if it rains at night.
I just started packing my clothes today! Mostly so I won't wear them before we make the trek on Thursday (not having a washer and dryer really sucks). I'm bringing 4 dresses and lots of tanks and tees... this is the very definition of over-packing

I packed last week, but somehow I keep adding to the bag! It was only half full and I was saving room for souvineers, but now its hard to zip:O.
I'm gonna wear a dress Tues and Friday, but shorts the rest of the days...about the chaffing issue...Band-aid just came out with a stick that you can rub on your feet to prevent blisters, or legs to prevent chaffing, I heard it's good, located in band-aid aisle.
For fun I'm bringing my bellydancing belt...so if you hear a little jingle behind you...it might be me! I'm wearing it for the Phish shows!
6.7: roooo 6:19: roger waters playing the wall 6:22: dave matthews band 6.27: trampled by turtles 6:28-29: phish 7:14: forecastle festival & mmj on the belle of louisville
I'd purchased a handful of cute sundresses as well; but I'm extremely self conscious about showing my arms in public. I'll go with cargo pants and spare Bonnaroo's patrons the sight of my stretch marks

you should wear the cute sundresses, imo!
we, as women, tend to be way too hard on ourselves... and bonnaroo is definitely the place to enjoy a more relaxed body image consciousness
enjoy those dresses, soak up the sun, nobody will be noticing anything but the beautiful smile on your face

Hey, I got my mom wearing smock-top dresses this summer, and she's 62! There's no age limit on sundresses, at least not as far as I'm concerned. You're right....having a good time and being comfy is what matters. I'll have a cup of that, please!

I agree with crazykittensmile. Be comfy and wear the sundresses! I'm going to push my body image issues aside for this, and I really hope you can, too. If there's anywhere that's the easiest place to do it, it's Roo.
ahh so i have to pack tomorrow and havent really started a pile more of an explosion of clothing..ive got a mission ahead but all i can think of is all the fun to come!!!!!
I am amazed that you guys are so self conscious for Roo! I didn't notice any staring except at the really whacked out folks and for fun fashion/people watching. If anyone looks at you and thinks for a second about how you look (beyond "that's a cute dress" or "I wish I had furry leg warmers"), that's most certainly their problem. How sad to be at a super-fun festival worrying about whether other people have chub. I vote that you wear whatever you want and feel good about it. If that means a sundress or the wearable towel (http://www.wearabletowel.com/), go for it.
