Hey ladies! 1st times posting in this paticular thread, but been reading over it, looking over all the cute dresses, headbands, and other ROO fashions everyone's bringing, etc. to get some ideas of my own. It just so happens I was at Walmart over the weekend looking at those cute dresses, and as soon as I got home, there was a post about them..LOL..but I missed, didn't even think about in fact, the legging idea/option for when/if it gets chilly..I'll have to check them out. I ended up buying one of the stapless dresses w/ pockets..it's too cute, and also bought a really cool swimsuit coverup that I'm going to double as a long dress....if I can pull that look off.
Anyway...I was reading where others were discussing anti-chafing for the thighs, etc....especially for "pleasantly plump" girls like myself and saw some post about the bodyglide vs. the monistat anti-chaffing....but it seemed the majority had not tried the bodyglide, and was having difficulty finding it other than at Dick's..is that still the case? Anybody ever used Bodyglide and the Monistat Anti-Chaffing and have a preference? Just trying to decide which to try/purchase cause I don't like the idea of wearing shorts under my dresses either....
Anyway...sorry to ramble w/ such a loooong post..I was just doing some work, getting ready for bed, and Jimmy Fallon came on reminding me even more (like I could forget) that Bonnaroo is only a little over a week away!!!!!!! And I haven't even started packing.....
OK...OK...I'll stop..what's the groups thoughts on Anti-Chafing stuff?? Thanks! Carla
Even though this will be my 4th Roo, this is the only year I've put a good amount of planning into my outfits. In one way it's good because I feel prepared, but now I've found myself feeling a little neurotic and hyper-conscious about how I'll be looking when I'm trying to put myself together in a hot, sweaty tent.. As I try my clothes on, I always feel I look better after I've been able to look in the mirror and adjust the little things..
(I also should confess that instead of just going with my best girlfriend this year as usual, our best guy friend (who has started being more than just a friend recently, if you know what I mean... ;D) will be there and that might be stressing me out a bit too.)
Now I'm starting to worry about not having a MIRROR at Bonnaroo when I know looking perfectly put together is NOT what I'm there for.
I have a feeling once I'm on the farm I'm not going to think twice about it, but I was wondering how some of you might deal with this. Do you bring some kind of mirror? Rely on your girlfriends for the thumbs up? Or do you just not give a damn 'cause you're at BONNAROO?
I got my headband from Mayonaise in the mail today and it's super cute! Thanks for making this special for me, Christine.
Hey! Very nice! Im so glad you like it! I just got a giant box of yarn that I ordered a couple weeks ago, so im about to make a ton of Flip Its. Im pumped about it.
To answer the LEGGINGS questions: Location in WalMart, They were on a large 3-tier circular rack in the middle of the junior-ish section, right next to all the little sundresses and print tees. NOT in the underwear, NOT near the socks - kind of like a little gem in the middle of the actual clothing.

Way off topic, but would you be willing to share with me your hair care regimen? I'm 28 and still working on making my curls act like hair.
Both my mom and sister have really curly hair (I'm the genetically unlucky one) and they both buy pretty expensive styling products, and I think it's worth it. My sister just puts some goo in and lets it air dry and it looks amazing.
I brought a small, oval vanity mirror and propped it up on my Rubbermaid bin for hair and makeup checks.
There's nothing wrong with caring about your appearance. It's excessively caring about your appearance that's an issue!
Hey ladies : ) so do you all actually bother with putting makeup on every morning? or is it pretty much a waste because of the sunscreen and sweating and whatnot. Thanks!
I do, because I like the extra SPF protection, but it does disappear rather quickly in the heat. I'm wondering if anyone has tried the Bare Minerals powder with SPF?

No make-up for me except eye liner. I am over 40 and really need it but at Bonnaroo, it just isn't necessary. You sweat so much there just isn't much point in my opinion.

Sure! I'm 27, and it's taken me years to find the right combo of products. But I use the John Freida Frizz Ease stuff. It doesn't make my hair crunchy or too soft. I start with the Curling shampoo and conditioner (a lot of the latter); the frizz ease serum as soon as I get out of the shower; next comes the Dream Curls spray. Then once my hair is completely dry, I use the Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Cream (which I recommend to anyone, straight haired or curly), but only a little bit because it goes a long way! I also let my hair air-dry. And I don't brush it... if I get a knot or tangle, I soak it in conditioner in the shower and use a pick or my fingers to work it out.
Ugh. If only I had time to shop a little more! I'm going to the Reds/Cubs game after work on Friday, have to do laundry tomorrow, and probably King's Island on Saturday! Life is so hard.
I'm a first timer, and I have a question that I don't feel like searching for the answer (lazy, what can I say?). I have a really cute strapless dress from H&M that would be super cute and summery and stuff, but I'm worried about the lack of straps. Any opinions?
This is what I did so that I could wear a reg bra (from an earlier page)
I got a couple strapless smock dresses (finally found ones that fit-thank god), and I put little straps on them right where my bra straps go so that I don't have to worry about either a strapless, or a bikini top that will hurt my neck by the end of the day. I just used skinny straps of matching fabric (one is brown and the other white) and sewed them onto the front and back - 4 straps total. I made them long so that I can just tie them in a bow on my shoulder. That way I didn't have to measure how long they really need to be. It's an easy fix if you don't want to go strapless all the time, and you can just tuck the straps in when you do want a strapless dress. You could use ribbon, too, for even less sewing.

bare minerals with spf has been my go to for a few years now. through every festival i've been to - i still use a moisturizer with spf before putting it on just in case. but the powder is fantastic! it's super breathable and can give you just enough coverage to feel put together (depending on how much you want to put on)
i definitely recommend this! also as for makeup, i just do some minimum coverage with this powder and throw on some waterproof mascara. at night, i may jazz it up a little more for kicks
edit: owsley, that has been my issue too! i'm totally overthinking/preparing for everything. so don't worry, you're definitely not the only one

I swear by Bare Minerals! I've been wearing it for years! LOVE IT!

As far as the mirror issue, I think I brought a little mirror with me last time, don't remember if I actually used it for something. I definitely just relied on my best friend to be my mirror. Especially since I was on my period last time - there was a lot of "hey, will you check out my ass real quick?" going on, haha.
So I just remembered earlier today that last year we were trying to plan a Target Dress Day since a lot of us had the same dresses from Target and we were all gonna take a picture somewhere. Is there anything that we all have this year? In 07 everyone had the tank tops from Target (brown mushrooms, blue whales, yellow suns, orange birds, etc.) and last year everyone had those cute dresses from Target, but I can't think of anything for this year. If anyone can think of anything we could try to all match for the Inforoo brunch or something. Otherwise we can all just wear whatever - we can still totally take a group photo of all the sexy girls of Inforoo.....I'm sure we can find a selfless guy willing to take that photo for us! ;D

Hey Carla! I have used both, and I would give a slight edge to the BodyGlide, I think it stays on a little longer in the hot weather. That said, I haven't tested it at the Roo - only Lolla and ACL.
The Monistat is a great choice too, both work really well!

I'm a definite makeup gal, but I may just be rocking the sunscreen. I also may bring some clear Maybelline Great Lash Mascara to tame my eyebrows because I hate them being out of place. I may do some waterproof mascara and definitely will have my chapstick. Has anyone tried the new(ish) shimmers from chapstick? The strawberry one rocks!
I have been meaning to get a bare minerals starter kit.. my mom loves it. I'm just lazy and have all these festivals and other stuff to pump money into at the moment haha.
Oh, and I'm also going to go to Walmart and check out their dresses & snag a few bandanas.. I don't have a Target close by (but they're building one now thank god!) so that sucks. Everyone always gets such cute stuff there!

oh, and I hate to double post, but I wanted to know if anyone on here was a member of makeupalley?
I just joined not too long ago, and I love reading and writing reviews for products! I've bought so much makeup over the years that wasn't worth a dime, and now I find myself checking this site before I make any purchases to see whether something is worthy or not.
They also do reviews for skin & hair products too.. I love it!
No makeup for me. I just wash my face a lot and keep sunblock on it. I might go with a little bit of mascara but even that usually gets skipped. Lip gloss or chapstick too but that is more about comfort and less about vanity. I hate the feeling of dry lips. I actually enjoy not wearing makeup at Roo. Its nice ot just get up and go.
still working on making my curls act like hair. HAA HAA LOL
i feel your pain. i rotate between leave-in conditioner and anti frizz gel OR not brushing it for a couple of weeks of lovely temp dreads. curly hair locks up pretty quick depending on its thickness.
but her ^^ hair is way more well behaved than mine. :-)
Thanks for all the hair tips, everybody! I'm trying to go nopoo, and I'm just hoping I can get it looking like not-crap by Roo.
Another bare minerals girl. I hate putting on makeup, but it's so quick and light, I don't mind it. I didn't use it last year at Roo, but I think I will this time around for the added sunscreen protection. Hoping for some sweat-absorbing action, too.

ditto! i wear makeup almost every day of the year and i find it to be a nice break ;D

I just wear a tinted moisturizer with spf. Gotta use some kind of spf anyway, and this is 3 in 1! It just gives a little coverage without getting cakey when I sweat.
The only makeup I plan to wear at Roo is some waterproof mascara (maybe) and some Burts Bees lip balm. Between the heat and the rain we're supposed to be getting I just don't see the point for much more than that.
Kristen, I'm a member of Makeupalley. Though I haven't left any reviews I find it's a good guideline for making better purchases - currently I'm using the Revlon spf 6 makeup that's well recommended on there, and I'm pretty happy with it!
As for makeup and mirrors at roo - I wear a little bit of eye liner and maybe some foundation (I have some bare minerals around somewhere...) depending on if I feel like it or not. I have a small mirror that I mainly use with my contacts, it also is helpful to check and make sure no horrendous zits have sprung up somewhere! Oh, I also wore some glittery eye shadow for late night last year, I may do it again

Mascara and SPF chap stick is all I'll be rocking. Too sweaty.
I go makeup-free at Roo. Too much hassle -- I could really care less about makeup every day, so why start at Roo? LOL
I will be wearing glitter at night I think, and I've got plenty (thanks to 8 years of dance team, lol) so if you want some hit me up
ALSO - my boyfriend got me fuzzy legwarmers while he was in London! I'm so super excited because I've been thinking about ordering some for awhile! They look like this except solid hot pink:
I'm thinking of wearing them with my pink and purple tutu and a black tank on Friday night. What do you guys think?
