Hey Ladies - New topic (Maybe?) - Acrylic nails???
Im 29, and I've never ever ever ever had fake nails until about 2 months ago. My nails were getting pretty brittle and chippy and I was over it - so I tried acrylics. They're not bad. I can't scratch like normal, and I have issues handling the occasional blemish, but I like that they ALWAYS look nice and my nails aren't snagging on everything I come in contact with. They're pretty short (claw-nails are a NO for me), french white tips, and Im pretty obsessive so I use a nail brush on them about 3 times a day...
Okay - my question - has anyone else done Roo with acrylics? Im afraid of the nail gunk I could encounter with it being dusty and being sweaty... I have already added the nail brush to my backpack list. Just wondered what anyone had to offer on the topic.
Havent done a festival with acrylics before but I used to wear them for years or so...
I was a french tip only on my fingernails just because i am pretty active with my hands (i guess? ) and i always chipped color and it drove me crazy lol
Also, I had them a lot on Spring Break if you are going to have french tips for Roo there is a special coat/spray that keeps the white color from turning yellowey from the sun
I probably won't pack my clothes until Wednesday, but I live in Nashville so it's just a short drive to the farm. Also the weather is the same so I'm wearing a lot of my roo clothes regularly!

^^^Same as squirrel, I haven't packed yet but I probably won't do so until next week anyways. I've just been busy making hoops! Luckily though, most if not all the stuff I'm taking to Roo was just washed so I could throw it all in a shopping bag until packing time arrives anyways.
BTW, squirrel, *what* is your avatar? My boyfriend asked me and I wasn't sure, but it's really cool!
the dark polish idea was genius. i usually do royal blue toes and turquoise fingers, but the turquoise is pretty opaque and my nails are pretty short.
so i played dress up today and got everything together. turns out i am bringing three outfits/day roughly. one dress, one shorts, and one night (warmer). way more than I will EVER wear, but i am not sure if i will end up more comfortable in the shorts or the dresses, so its better to overpack and have options. next year i will have a better idea and i can trim it down. PLUS i managed to cram it all into the duffel i planned to take my clothes in so not a space issue.
turns out when you go closet diving there's stuff you own that you forget about, like i found my light messenger bag so i'm not now buying the insulated one and i lost enough weight that three of my bikinis fit again, so no buying a bathing suit.
i think i am done shopping except a few things for kiddo maybe. her fashion show packing day is tomorrow.
NO MORE SHOPPING if i can help it. my car got robbed last week and all they took was my gps so i had to buy a new one unexpectedly. boo.
tomorrow will be the pedicure/haircut/eyebrow wax pre-roo day. Gotta look 1/2way decent for the farm!

Mayonaise, the 'twirlaroo' idea is golden. I've been twirling quite a bit myself.
For those veterans out there, I'm packing A LOT of dresses and skirts. Is this reasonable? Or will I regret not wearing shorts all the time? I don't want to overpack as space is premium in our vehicle and want to be smart with my selections. And what about at night? I've packed one pair of jeans and a hoodie. Should my bag include more warmer clothes?
I don't even bring shorts to any fests anymore. They are just too constricting to me.
As for warm clothes, I always bring 2 pairs of leggings, one pair of jeans, a warm hoodie and a light hoodie, and a pair of sweat pants (for latenight trips to the portos)
I keep seeing all these short jumper/romper things. So I went for it and got one online. It seems like a good choice for 'roo. A way to stay cool and be fashion-forward. And I just got it in the mail. I've never had anything like it before, but I am definitely bringing it to 'roo. One-piece, sleeveless with shorts. and cotton! Look for me in navy blue...haha. Being super-cute of course.

alright ladies, got waxed yesterday, going to get my pedi tomorrow. i'm in a wedding this weekend so i'm doing a light pink...hope it still looks ok for roo!
warm clothes subject: i bring a warm hoodie as well as a comfy cardigan and gauchos or something like them.
as for shorts, i'll probably wear a pair in on thursday for the setup and that's about it.
dodge - i just got my jumper in the mail last week from lulu's and goodness, it is the softest, lightest thing! i didn't expect it to be THAT comfy!! i'm stoked to wear it...it even has pockets!!
insidejoke - i'm also packing almost only dresses and skirts, pants (for me) are only for backup, cold nights and latenight porto trips as clairity pointed out
also, i did my twirlaroo (genius term btw) on monday and was having all these "is this cute or not?" "is this too 'fashion' and not enough 'comfort'?" "are the other girls in my roo crew gonna think i'm crazy with all my pre planned outfits?!" thoughts. ugh. i hate second guessing myself but i'm so glad y'all are here to assure me that i'm not the only one. i just need to pack it up and go with it, confidence is key, right?!
ok sorry for the lengthy post, just wanted to get that out

I pretty much only wear dresses at Roo - it's the comfiest and coolest option imo. I have 5 dresses packed (3 long, 2 short). I also take one hooded cardigan/sweater and one pair of jeans, 2 long sleeved thin shirts, 1 short sleeved tee. I am wearing shorts and tank-top Thursday for setting up the tent etc. That is the only time I will wear shorts. Shorts don't do so well when it's really hot - they stick to you and are not comfortable.

Thanks! I found it on an avatar site years ago and loved it. It's called the green monster. I used to have it tiled across my desktop where I had a ton of them all leaping in unison, but I can't figure out how to do it now!
I have a question for you ladies!
I'm going to wear a tutu I made for at least one night at roo. It needs some sort of coverage underneath and I'm heading to American Apparel to see what I can find. What do you guys thing would work best - leggings, short shorts, or a skirt? (I'm currently leaning toward leggings)

i think leggings or short shorts would be best. definitely leggings if you can find some funky ones!!

Ladies, posting from my phone as the walmart trip I just had was insanely good and I need to share!!!
LONG LEGGINGS for $3!!!! They have them in gray, charcoal, blue, pink, orange, white, black, and some other colors. The sign over them said $5, but when I rang out came to 3. I will be rocking dresses all weekend, so I got a pair to roll up in my pack, and put on when it gets chilly. $3 bucks!!!!
Then I got one of those $10 dresses and a 2-pack of mini ShamWows.... Yes, I'm an in-the-checkout-aisle shopper.

I was planning on making a tutu last year and then I never did when my plans fell through. So then I figured I'd make one this year, and now I don't know if I have time since I'm being so last-minute with my plans. But if I do, I think my plan is just going to be to wear my bathing suit bottoms underneath.

I have two tutus and I wear short shorts under mine (my dance team used to refer to them as 'spankys' if you know what that is). Leggings just don't cover enough IMO.

Where were the leggings? With the clothes or the socks/underwear?? I may go stock up on these, if I can find them, that is.

^^ yeah she does.
Ugh. If only I had time to shop a little more! I'm going to the Reds/Cubs game after work on Friday, have to do laundry tomorrow, and probably King's Island on Saturday! Life is so hard.
I'm a first timer, and I have a question that I don't feel like searching for the answer (lazy, what can I say?). I have a really cute strapless dress from H&M that would be super cute and summery and stuff, but I'm worried about the lack of straps. Any opinions?

Re: strapless dresses/tops, so long as they aren't the kind you have to continually hike up, I think they're fine. In fact, I'm bringing a strapless maxi b/c it feels like I'm wearing a big sheet!
