freebyrd is your dress smocked and blue/brown/white? if so we have the same dress! hehe.
as far as a small bag to carry i had the greatest idea but i can not find it online, so when i go to target i ill get the info for you. i saw at target these insulated bags - they look like fashion purse/totes but they are with the camping stuff and insulated lunch bags..... they're sized for like a 6 pack, or smaller, or a bit bigger. anyway this could double as a purse and keep your water cool.
i will get you the info tonight. i'm getting one - IF it has a crossbody strap. i want a bag/purse BUT all the crossbody sling bags had no zip closure and no inner pockets. just a big open bag for me to accidentally dump out every ten minutes.
i might take pics of the bags with my crap cell camera so you can see what i mean, as i am not explaining them well at all, and they might not be available online.
--Bodyglide is sold at Dick's Sporting Goods for $9.99
--Cute dresses at Walmart WITH POCKETS. The most expensive one I purchased was $14. I found two pictures online, but these aren't even my favorites (I bought waaaay too many -- the cutest ones were strapless).
--I bought a GIANT tan and leather shoulder bag (that I wear cross-shoulder) with an external zipper, a large zipper pouch on the inside, and two large pockets on the outside at Target ON CLEARANCE for $6. I'll be rockin' a Camelback most of the time, but if I want something different this is what I'll carry. Very multi-purpose.

yea, that's the one!! Strapless? I wasn't even thinking before I bought it that I would have to mess with a srapless bra all day when i wear it. I hate strapless bras so I'm just going to wear my bathingsuit top under it.
I got a couple strapless smock dresses (finally found ones that fit-thank god), and I put little straps on them right where my bra straps go so that I don't have to worry about either a strapless, or a bikini top that will hurt my neck by the end of the day. I just used skinny straps of matching fabric (one is brown and the other white) and sewed them onto the front and back - 4 straps total. I made them long so that I can just tie them in a bow on my shoulder. That way I didn't have to measure how long they really need to be. It's an easy fix if you don't want to go strapless all the time, and you can just tuck the straps in when you do want a strapless dress. You could use ribbon, too, for even less sewing.
Pepper- We got a backpack from Wal-Mart that has a place for a camelback water bag. I got the water pack from Wal-Mart too. It has gel stuff around it so if you put in your cooler overnight it will stay cold for like 4-6 hours. I loved wearing the camelback last year. The coolness from the water inside kept my skin cool and I don't give a flip about tan lines. I wear so much sunblock that I won't be getting a tan anyway, I didn't get any kind of tan last year. Our camelback resevoir sprung a leak so we had to get a new bag this year but we already had the backpack.
TJMaxx!! My friend who was supposed to go to Roo with us but can no longer go came over last night. She bought me a Roo dress from TJMaxx and a floppy hemp hat! The dress is one I tried on a few months back but didn't know if I was going to Roo yet so I didn't buy it. It was a crazy coincidence that she ended up buying that one....I guess she just knows my style.
for me, the smocking is all the bra i need, but then i'm not much of a bra-wearer anytime. i actually got a cute dress from target and it was smocked with straps, and i cut the straps off.
no target tonight. too lazy to find shoes. or to travel five minutes down the road. more on the insulated bag tomorrow. i'll most likely just twitter it right from the store (so i dont have to take the card out of the phone) but i will link the pics here when i get home.
so, how far in advance do you girls pack your clothes? every vacation i take we end up doing this last minute panic load of laundry and it sucks, so i've asked for everyone's laundry by tomorrow, which gives a few days to get around to laundry and then packing it all up. figured we can al do without whatever we are bringing to roo for a week to save that last minute laundry panic.
also someone earlier asked how many outfits a day? i am planning on more thn two/day because what if i get something really dirty or the weather changes? 2/day+1monday=9+1for the drive up=10 ... so i am bringing about 12 or 13 'outfits', which is 2/day+travel, one really warm thing, and two backups. also something to sleep in and probably three bathing suits. but my clothes compact pretty easily and we have a good bit of room. 3ppl in a camry, so the whole trunk and half the backseat is for stuff.

I'll probably be bringing 4 dresses (if I can find cute ones cheap, I only have one or two now), plus at least two skirts in case I need to change. Then a few tank tops to go with those skirts and/or be sleep stuff. A couple pairs of pajama shorts. A lightweight hoodie and some footless tights for nighttime. Something along those lines - I still have so much shopping to do, augh. This is why I MUST DECIDE by like...tomorrow....so I can get organized and start shopping and stuff!

I just fit: three dresses, four beaters, two colored tanks, three pairs of shorts, two skirts, and three bathing suits into two (2) one gallon baggies.... I have SO MUCH ROOM still! For my towel, all my outdoor stuff (bugspray etc etc)... just thought I'd pass on the tip, since packing tight is a necessity especially for me, since I have to share the car with five other girls... yikkessss.
so, how far in advance do you girls pack your clothes?
I will probably start packing tomorrow, just so I don't wear some of the stuff I'm taking before then (no washer and dryer at my house). And I don't leave until next Thursday morning... I'm over-eager and excited ;D

I brought 2 a day last year and wore them all. I feel like I underpacked so this year I will be bringing more! One of my "night" outfits got soaked in the rain last year on Friday, so that entire outfit (including the only sweatshirt I brought) was soaked and unwearable the rest of the weekend. So be prepared for something like that to happen this year... I'd rather be over-prepared than under-prepared!

More dresses! Aaah! Keep me away from all stores until Bonnaroo! I couldn't possibly wear all that I've bought. I visited Rue 21 and bought three more dresses -- all half off ($8-10). Pictures of two of them below.
Don't know if it's just in my area, but I got an email today that ALL dresses and skirts at Old Navy are on sale for $15. Went yesterday and they have some really cute stuff! Just thought I'd throw the tip out. Thanks for all the advice, gals! I'm heading to WalMart and TJ Maxx today after work to do some final shopping (even though I already have too much to wear)! A girl can never have too many options, right???
Does anyone know a link to a store that sells the fanny-pack like hip bags? They're called the "Hippy Sack" or something like that. Basically a little purse that sits on your hip. . . a less lame version of the fanny pack, haha. I'm going to be wearing dresses all weekend and want something uncumbersome and won't leave bad tan lines.
Yesterday as I was doing some lunch hour power shopping, I saw a "waist security pouch" at Target. It looked like a fanny pack but smaller and flatter. The idea was to hide it under your shirt or waistband so you don't get pickpocketed. It was about $15. However, you would have to wear it outside your dress unless you wanted to do some interesting reach-ups to retrieve your money, etc.
Hey Ladies - New topic (Maybe?) - Acrylic nails???
Im 29, and I've never ever ever ever had fake nails until about 2 months ago. My nails were getting pretty brittle and chippy and I was over it - so I tried acrylics. They're not bad. I can't scratch like normal, and I have issues handling the occasional blemish, but I like that they ALWAYS look nice and my nails aren't snagging on everything I come in contact with. They're pretty short (claw-nails are a NO for me), french white tips, and Im pretty obsessive so I use a nail brush on them about 3 times a day...
Okay - my question - has anyone else done Roo with acrylics? Im afraid of the nail gunk I could encounter with it being dusty and being sweaty... I have already added the nail brush to my backpack list. Just wondered what anyone had to offer on the topic.

I had acrylics before and one thing I remember with the french manicure is that the white part either rubbed off or got dirty at some point. Sorry - this was about 12-13 years ago so I don't remember fully. But you might want to change the polish to something dark before you go.

Totally not that roo related-- But, I recently bought some yoga pants from Old Navy and they are the most amazing things ever. I'm totally considering them for the nights when it cools off. I've never liked yoga pants before.

I packed Sunday night ;D Guess I'm just excited! There are a few bits and bobs that still need to be laundered but I really just wanted to see if everything fit into my backpack...and it does, so far so good!

I just bought some recently too, from Old Navy, in fact. They are my favorite lounge pants now!! I will most likely be bringing them to Roo also.. I like the fact that they are stretchy all over and not just in the waist.

Thanks dcbee and jenka - I had a girl ask me about that last week "how do you keep the tips so white?" and I didnt understand what she meant, bc they actually make white tips now. the fake "tip" is white so there's no wearing off which is cool. I have to get these filled in this week, so I'll see how they're doing come next Tuesday night, and see about going dark
Secondly, I'd like to rename this June 2 as my own personal "Twirlaroo!" I've been Roo fashion showing in my room, and I think the name speaks for itself!
