so one of the local stations here does a monthly block party show and its usually decent but they mainly cater to the generic indie pop/rock type stuff. They grabbed the Revivalists for the last one i went to in June so i was pumped. Next month is Portugal The Man which is a big surprise to me and less surprising is that the other acts are Judah and The Lion and Vance Joy who couldn't fit less. Even funnier is now it looks like Vance joy is actually the headliner which is depressing.
I would love to see Judah and the Lion and bummed I missed that Hangout. Hoping to see them in Nashville soon.
krisplettuce I want to second that being on the beach. My CT Scan came out negative (whew). Allergy Test at 1:00 today. I think the beach would be the best prescription.
I am totally ok with Hangout signing a couple classic rock tribute bands to play Palladia and other stages opposite whatever the millennials are watching. A Jimmy Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bowie, or Janice Joplin tribute band would be fun for Hangout

After reading all the jazz about arcade fire dress codes at their shows I can only hope they are kidding. If all that's true I can only laugh at those turds.

I could def work with that but it's probably too good to be true. No thanks to the Frank Ocean repeat too. AF and AM would be 2 welcomed headliners for the top 3 tho.
Probably too much rap for Hangout, and Scott is 3-4-5 on Hangout Fest sized lineup now. He was 3 on Friday @ Coachella behind Radiohead and The xx (also Sat and Sun, Future and Justice were 3 respectively). At Bonnaroo he was 9. That's 35,000 more people. So I'm not being nit-picky, just trying to put that in perspective.

Agreed. Travis is a Surf closer. If we don't get someone like Kendrick or J. Cole in the top 3, I could see Future or Travis Scott being in the 4-6 range for the top hip hop act. I feel like we'll def have 1 of those 4. Same with Lana/Halsey/Lorde, I think we'll have 1 of them in the top 6 too.
QOTSA in 2014 still may be my favorite show in 5 years of Hangout. I'll never forget being way in the back of Wiz Khalifa and seeing the mass exodus of people leaving for Childish Gambino and getting myself all the way up to the rail. Met a dope ass security guard who got me a Josh Homme guitar pick as well. I really hope they can put together a lineup that interests me this year, I definitely miss the Hangout.
It's crazy that acts like Queens and MMJ just played this fest a few years ago but it almost feels like a complete stretch to throw them in any sort of a mock.

Last night I saw Wyclef Jean in a tiny venue in Atlanta. He's doing a Carnival 3 promo tour so he intentionally played a smaller venue and recorded it so that the place looked packed in the videos. I was able to get in the 2nd row.
8 songs in he does his first Fugees song, "Ready or Not." As he's rapping he's looking into the crowd to see who knows the old Fugees material. When he came to me I was rapping every word. (I love The Score and know every word to the whole thing.) When he saw me he locked in on me and started nodding and smiling. I just kept screaming it back to him. After I didn't miss a word in verse 1 he turned around and killed the music, and called me out. "Hold on, hold on, hold on. We about to remix this with the DJ, but YOU about to do the verse. Come up here man. This dude is solid."
Everybody pushed me up on stage. He started the chorus again, and then said, "Man, it's your show" and handed me the mic.
It was such a surreal moment that it didn't feel real, so I wasn't even nervous. I jumped in and did the whole first verse. As soon as I started the crowd went crazy and started cheering for me. Sometimes I took the mic and walked away, doing the whole thing by myself, and sometimes I came back and shared the mic with him.
I handed the mic back to him to a room full of cheers, and he had me stay on stage. He did Pras' verse while I rapped it without a mic. He would come back and forth signaling to me, playing off me, and hyping the crowd up for me. Then he took 30 seconds and did a freestyle about (what little he knew about) me. I didn't want to overstay my welcome so as he finished I threw out my hand, he dapped me up, and gave me a hug. I turned a round and jumped back into the crowd as everyone cheered for me and started pushing me around.
