Would anyone be ambitious enough to break all of these bands down by genre so that we can all have a starting point?

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Kuddos for doing this, but I think some of the genres are off. Rubblebucket isn't electronica, The Deep Dark Woods are more Alt Country, Honey Island Swamp Band has plenty of blues and southern Rock songs, Cherub is pop electronic, Tauk is most definitely not electronic, and Chappo is space rock/psychedelic rock.
As much as I enjoy a number of cafe acts this year, I wish Roo would book more Atlanta/Athens bands. There are so many good artists I see in these two cities to fill up the entire cafe line-up. I just feel this hotbed of up and coming artists is woefully underrepresented.
Are Cafe bands ever so packed that you can't get close at all? There are 4 or 5 must see acts for me in the Cafe acts and I'm just wondering how well attended they are or if they are ignored for the most part.

It depends. I have been to some that have 15 people and some that are packed out. The band's popularity and homebase factor into it. Also, it depends on how else is playing then. I worry more about conflicts with stage acts than how crowded they will be, i.e. sang's valient thorr v. radiohead conflict idea.

Cool, thanks for the reply. As far as conflicts, don't most of these bands have more than one show? I know last year, I remember Kopecky Family Band having at least two sets.

No only a few play more sets. But some bands play very short sonic sets too.

I always go to a handful of cafe shows and 9 times out of 10, it's not packed at all. There is always an exception like the Russian Circles. They were filled to the max.

the two I'm most looking forward to are Oberhofer and L.P., they're both incredible. I did one of my first reviews for the website I write for on L.P.'s first single, and I just adore her. I've been digging Oberhofer for a few years, and it's nice to see them get ever slightly bigger. I also just did a review on their cover of Kanye's "Runaway" the other day, it kinda kicks ass.

I've been listening to Cosmic Suckerpunch today and I really like them a lot. They've kind of got that T. Rex retro-glam swagger thing going for them. I could see their show being really high energy.
