Oh I'm with ya, I'm just wondering if he is big enough for the Friday night late night slot on the which stage. 20th on the bill probably wouldn't get a LN which stage, but... feels possible
At this point, LN is really the only area where any surprises can still happen. I'm hoping for the best here, but preparing for the worst. The worst would be a lone LN Which spot going to Skrillex.

I'm hoping for that so I have some more room at the other late nights. I love tent shows.

Right, I agree, but I'd still be disappointed if it were the only LN Which of the fest.

Ohhhhhhh I misread what you were saying. I thought you would just be disappointed if Skrillex got the which.....not that he would maybe get the Which and nobody else would.
I think Roo understands that Which stage late nights are coveted/popular slots and I imagine we'd have one for each night.
Maybe? I honestly don't know. It seems to me that their popularity has faded considerably, but there are people who know that much better than I.
If anything they have gotten more popular. But they never were and still aren't anywhere near LN Which calibur.
they're definitely selling out shows left and right like they never have, but I think late night Which would be a stretch....the crowd at Which looked almost Mumford sized the last time they had a day set, but I'd still bet hard on a late night tent closing slot.
Friday The Roots (Which) Santigold > Big Freedia (short set) > Major Lazer Little Dragon > FlyLo Dumpstaphunk (or MTO) > The Word
Saturday Skrillex (Which) Mogwai > Umphrey's Hip-Hop (Black Star or Gambino probably) > SBTRKT Puscifer > Danzig
with Battles as a long shot to be either where Mogwai is or where the Hip-Hop act before SBTRKT is.
And this is if MiM0Sa and Big Gigantic are both on Thursday
I agree with most of this, except I see Ludacris being the hip hop act. I'm not so sure Puscifer will get the late night slot, I'd be leaning more towards Alice Cooper getting that late night slot. Maybe friday goes Big Freedia -> Santigold -> Major Lazer as ML and Santigold are quite close. But I agree 100% they'll be sharing a late night stage.

I think this is VERY close. probably the closest yet given what we know. I think your hiphop act on saturday night will be Gambino, while Black Star gets the daytime What or Which (like Nas and Damian Marley in 2010). I think Puscifer will open for Danzig who will be in the Bootsy Collins evening-slot, and that Bad Brains will open for Alice Cooper LN
I also think that Bonnaroo is going to throw us a curveball and give an unexpected LN tent show to a band like White Denim or Flogging Molly.

Honestly, at this point I'm hoping for a Roots pre-HL just to cut down on some freaking conflicts. I'd rather have them in the evening up against FTP than at night against every other band I want to see.
I'm there with you on that one, I just don't see anyone else being able to hold down a late night Which other than Skrillex and The Roots. I don't even really see Dispatch having the following to hold down a Which Stage up against Flying Lotus, Santigold, and The Word. I could be wrong but I think The Roots LN Which is the safest move Bonnaroo could make. I'd consider Ludacris and Dispatch outside shots, but were I betting man I'd bet on The Roots. Especially since the Rod Y Gab added a potential pre-headliner on the What Stage.
Here's hoping he doesn't. It was cool exactly once. It was seriously cool exactly once. I have zero desire to see that this year at Bonnaroo. It would be cool if two years down the road when nobody's expecting it they throw it in, maybe Biggie? Until then I sincerely hope Roo doesn't fall for this gimmick.
your skepticism makes no sense. they were 'big enough' in 08 but now they aren't?
Maybe? I honestly don't know. It seems like their popularity has faded considerably, but I could be totally wrong.
Umphreys is more popular now then they were in 08 methinks. They are playing the same size venues but are selling them out more.
More anecdotally, they are getting more respect from the PT/jamband community then they used to. It is getting harder and harder to argue that, at least within that scene, they are not the most technically talented band.
Furthermore, and more crucially, in just the past couple years that technical excellence has been more and more tempered by a certain "looseness" in their jamming that jamband fans like myself want to hear. This is just my opinion.

Umphrey's McGee is going to be epic. I don't think there's any way they'd get a LN Which but who knows. If they did, I would be thrilled. Their light show has really stepped it up in the last year or two.
I could see Alice Cooper land in the saturday night Dr. John slot from last year, beginning right at midnight or right after the Chili Peppers, rockin' out in That Tent. Then Puscifer follows up later, 2 am-ish

Skrillex seems to be a lock for Saturday, but I'm still hung up on the Friday LN Which Stage.
I had been hoping for Umphrey's, but they look like a lock for Saturday. I'm not a super fan but some variety would have been nice.
According to Bonnaroo.com the 20 most popular remaining bands on Friday or unknown are (in this order). I bolded the ones that I think could play LN Which.
Foster the People The Roots The Avett Brothers Ludacris Feist Aziz The Kooks Sam Bush (my guess) Two Door Cinema City and Color Black Star Major Lazer Mac Miller Fitz and the Tantrums St Vincent Grouplove Fly Lo Tune Yards The Word (I'm surprised they have so many votes)
I'd prefer to see the Roots in HL type situation Saturday to cut down on conflicts (MMJ 2011 instead of 2008), and since RHCP is only doing around 90 minute sets, I'd bet this happens.
My gut feeling on the likely Friday LN Which 1. Luda 2. The Word 3. Major Lazer

im sorry but theres NO WAY your right.
black star, major lazer and fly lo have NO SHOT at being on which. from that list you gave, these are the only ones who have any chance whatsoever, and in this order of probability.
