so I going to see SBTKRT this weekend. I'm pretty excited, have no idea what to expect. always cool to experience something fresh and new in live music.
I dig the record. been listening after work a lot to help me relax.
wow i love SBTRKT but this is horrible! are you sure thats a SBTRKT remix? sounds so amateurish.....and bad.
I think this was posted on here earlier. But...
As far as that being sbtrkt I think it is cause many of the drums/sample sounds are very similar. Though I agree it's not that good.
As much as I know there are two versions of SBTRKT. The solo performance of Aaron on the computer and stuff which I think he is trying to get/has got away from and the one with the actual singers. Can anyone confirm this? There is not much history of him online.
Also I have no idea what he is doing on that AKAI it doesn't even make sense. I trust that he is doing stuff but the layers never really change.

He got added to the DEMF lineup so I'll be seeing him a week before Roo. I'm hoping it eliminates a LN conflict for me, unless his show is so awesome that I have to see it again.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

It will be that awesome. His Moogfest show blew me away, and it was already one of my fav albums of 2011 going into the show!

Gotta vent a bit.. My friend literally lives down the road from the venue SBTRKT is playing in Boston (Allston) so whenever I see a show I want to see there I ask him if he wants to go. When I asked him if he wanted to see this show he, not surprisingly, wasn't familiar with him so I just said check him out and get back to me. Realizing he probably would not take the initiative to even listen to one song,I posted wildfire on his FB wall just so he could easily get a feel for what the show would be like. He is definitely into electronic music which is one of the main reasons I asked him in the first place, but his response to me was "is that song you posted their best?" which I take to mean as "I am not impressed". I was kind of shocked by this but also kind of annoyed that instead of taking the time to even look up another song or two to decide if he was interested he responded like I was supposed to go out of my way to convince him The $20 dollar show down the street is worth going to by providing more examples of the music. Then again this is the same person who thought this years lineup is simply "meh". I guess some people are just that hard to impress

It makes perfect sense, he's running those fader pots as EFX channels linked with individual track lines on his laptop (Logic or Reason probably) - A lot of that button pressing he is re-adjusting levels on individual tracks while also using the MPC-style buttons to introduce/stab in with a hit or a new beat.
But I personally am hoping for the tag team type performance with the drums - huge fan of that kind of craziness
I fell in love with his self titled. I'm going to his Cleveland show in April with ziggyandthemonkeys from here, I get a double dose of SBTRKT live this year!
he was just at sxsw and played w/ Sampha singing and playing keys while he played drums and worked the mixers. Well, they both had plenty of midi controllers actually. The Akai that he had was the apc-40 (I think) as an Ableton controller. I assume that this is how he will play at Roo. He played 3 times over the weekend and I don't think any were DJ sets.
Was up at Mercy earlier today putting up Zed's Dead posters while they were setting up. I swear being a roadie is my true calling in life. I enjoy being there before a show more than I do during it. Looked like it was going to be legit but knife party was also in town so it was probably a bust. My lame ass didn't go to either.

Not lame-ass at all. Zed's Dead, baby. ;D
Good turnout at Mercy Lounge earlier. SBTRKT put down a really strong set.
Four, maybe maximum five, brahs in the crowd tonight. No wooks at all noted inside will-call.
They didn't have Little Dragon along with 'em to do it live tonight, but they still fully sampled in her vocals for "Wildfire", and that was maybe their best number of the evening.
Pretty sure she'll be there to speak it on stage this June, and that will be special.
I was there last night, but had to leave after their second song since my girl had some portobellos for the first time and the bass drum freaked her out because it was in sync with her heartbeat...or so she says haha.
Judging from those two songs and the tracks i've listened to on Spotify i'm really just not getting the hype. They're decent, to me, at best.
So tempted to go scalp some tickets for this.... But I have Alabama Shakes and Miike Snow shows coming up... Sooooo tempting...
Edit: Soooo thought they'd be sold out and I'd be looking at jacked up prices online, BUT tickets are still available... Might have to do it, just have to convince the wife!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

So, my wife and I just saw them two nights ago in Athens, GA, and I'm happy to inform everyone that it was an awesome show. I say them because SBTRKT had Sampha with him. If you don't know, he sings on half the tracks on his LP. Sampha played keys, synths, a few snares, the cowbell, and sang. SBTRKT controlled everything on his computer, played a bunch of different synths and pads, used a theremin (which was pretty damn cool), and played a full drum kit. His crazy cut up version of Wildfire was absolutely nuts. By the way, Aaron Jerome was rocking his blue mask with the yellow boarder that only covers the top half of his face. Overall, I was an awesome show....But, heed my warning everyone. If you really want to see them at Bonnaroo, get there early. Why??? It's because it was one of the darkest shows I've ever been to. They only use dark blue lights and strobes that sit on the floor. If you're not super close, you're not going to be able to see jack squat on stage. They threw in a few red lights, but that was sparingly.
Anyone else see him at Ultra? It was so poorly mixed, and just sounded bad. That is up until the last song, when they finally got the mix right. I'm ready to give them another shot at Roo. I'm sure with more time to set up, it will be amazing.
