Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
The rest are just popular indie and alt rock acts that never stop touring and play every festival.
You say this like it's a BAD THING? Just out of curiosity...how many times have you seen The Joy Formidable and Kurt Vile and Alabama Shakes and Orgone? Or how 'bout the War on Drugz, Sarah Jarosz or The Antlers?
There's more to a festival than the big-name "get" you seem to think we're lacking. This year, AC struck indie gold.
The reason I have always liked Bonnaroo so much was that it was such a diverse booking. You have bands for everyone. And it attracted everyone to the farm, which created great vibes.
I do like the indie and alt/rock bands, but if I wanted only them, I'd go to Lollapalooza. I go to Bonnaroo to get the unique acts that no other major festival has.
Are there any country acts on the lineup? Would someone over 50 know of any bands on the lineup besides the Beach Boys? Are Phish and Umphreys enough to attract my jam friends? Where's the metal?
But like I said earlier, I do like the lineup. There are 39 bands that I wouldn't mind seeing (16 of those are bands I am really excited to see).

This is almost word for word what I have been saying to friends all day. I enjoy the lineup, I just don't get the lack of diversity.
....ok here is my lineup review, and i would love for this to start a conversation about my comments. To preface.......I am a 47 year old 5 time Roo er w a masters in Violin performance that saw 187 Dead shoes in 36 cities. I only mention all of this for you to see where I spent my last 20 years.
After reading EVERY post in the headliner prediction area I must agree that even tho I am enormously into Phish (see Dead pedigree above), this festival lineup starts and ends with Radiohead. I could not believe that after all of the rumors and prognostications that we actually got them.
After the whole Macca and Prince masterbation that I read and got excited about I was left with Radiohead and this other list of bands which left me as with every year that I have attended to ask which of these other bands will thrill me. (I discovered Dr. Dog, National, Jack, Lip Etc in past years. I just spent the last 8 hours listening to Shins, BI and Flogging Molly and was left likewarm about them. Please provide me with comments so that I can listen to some of this undercard and gain some excitement about ALL OF THESE BANDS that I know nothing about.
Thanks.
Comments. Hmmm.
187 is a crap-ton of Dead shoes!
(Sorry, man. It's dick:30 on my kitchen clock.)
Actually, I'm with ya here, in a lot of ways. We're roughly the same age, and I used to follow the Dead a lot, before Jerry died. There's nothing really like them before or since, and most younger folk will not relate. No fault of their own.
1. Listen to more Bon Iver. Then rinse and repeat.
2. Since you're a bow-instrumentalist, you should also give Mogwai a fair listen. They're not "jammy" in a Phish or Umphreys way, but it's beautiful arrangement -- more akin to Sigur Ros.
3. The Antlers. "Indie", yes. But SO tight!
4. And the Alabama Shakes are a lower-slotted band at the moment, but they're probably on the cusp of blowing up huge over the next coupla years. (Some of their guitar-riffing almost reminds me of Jerry's own, when I have my eyes closed.)
Anyway, I hope you decide to make it down this year, and that you end up discovering a few bands that will still be in your shuffle five years from now.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.
I don't know about you guys, but a sunset into early evening City & Colour set would make my entire damn weekend. Oh, god.
I hope the people involved in booking the acts know that Alice Cooper is only worthy of the ticket if his entire stage show is involved. I'm sure if GWAR had theirs, he can have is.

Wow I had no idea Nigel Godrich was producing Here We Go Magic's new album. That is going to be fucking incredible. I was blown away by their set on Thursday in 2010, one of the best shows I've ever seen at Bonnaroo. Even more excited for that pleasant little surprise now

Attaboy, 'Berto!
We kinda lurched it last time. Won't get fooled again.
"I mean, Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees." "this whole situation has just turned his whole life upside down face."
2012: RHCP, Phish, Beach Boys, Aziz, The Roots, Alice Cooper, Superjam, Blackstar, The Word, Luda, Flogging Molly, Spectrum Road, Umphrey's, Black Lips, Gary Clark Jr., Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Trampled By Turtles
Starting with the bottom half: The Black Lips SBTRKT Phantogram Kendrick Lamar (Section.80 is wonderful) Charles Bradley The Antlers (seems you've already caught on) Kurt Vile Das Rascist Delta Spirit Alabama Shakes Mogwai Trampled by Turtles The War on Drugs Gary Clark Jr. White Denim Grouplove Here We Go Magic Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Big Gigantic Orgone Fruit Bats Moon Taxi Darondo
Once you check most of those out, you will realize that the lineup is pretty stacked.
Kinda like a Jeff Beck jazz fusion thing.....very hip.
and Antlers for those that don't know them are also, in my humble opinion pretty great. People have said this over and over but the 24 hours since lineup drop hae been REALLY rewarding. I just found sevreral bands, that not only am I going to dig at ROO, but will probably follow and be enriched by.
Thanks im on it. By the way Moon Taxi just went from a Jazz fusion thing to some pretty righteous Reggae/Rock thing. One thing that really gets me stoked is when an act can change feathers. As a classical musician I need that

189! Yeah, jealous. I don't think I get to that number with Phish and Panic combined....started seeing both in the early 90's(panic '89 actually) and I'm just now getting into the Dead. It's been great over the past six months mining the catalogue. Love them. I'm headed to Wanee to get my headzy fix. Used to be able to do that at B'roo, but not so much anymore.
