Yea but you asked why faculty/staff get pissed. Not why Bonzai got pissed.
Student's have to pay to go to school, don't see why they shouldn't have some of the same perks as the people paid to be there.
Agreed. I hated how parking was handled at my school. You had to pay for a parking permit/pass and like Dave said...there were more permits than there were available spots/lots. To fix the complaints the school built a brand new parking lot but made it an hourly pay thing. So I had to pay for a semester's permit and if there weren't spots open I could usually find one in the "Pay" lot which would charge a few bucks an hour or something like that.
Even worse was deciding to go and use the "Pay" lot....then looping around 3 minutes to see there are no available spots.

UTK hasn't tried the pay garage yet, but it won't be long before they get the idea. They had to build a new garage to get it down to the numbers I listed. I am glad that my class now is more toward the evening, so I don't have to enter the warzone that is parking at UTK in the middle of the day.
Isn't there more important sh*t to be worried about than Facebook nonsense?
sure. like Neil's set only being an hour long
I had been really struggling with whether or not to get tickets for this. I still am, but this will make ultimately deciding I can't afford it a little easier.

I'd check the thread for it first. Might be some people with free extra tickets. (talking about Global Festival tomorrow in NYC)

UTK hasn't? Our campus has a 5-story pay garage, but since it's a reserved lot, students with general parking tags are EXPRESSLY FORBIDDEN to park there. Parking cops are total schmucks about it, too.
Unfortunately, faculty/staff don't have specific lots. Most of the lots closest to my building are Reserved ($292/yr) and I refuse to pay that! Parking in the morning can take 45mins of driving around campus looking for a spot since we have so few general lots... MFers.
Bottom line: Holls now walks to work most days.
EDIT: Oh yeah, my campus admits they oversell the parking permits. We have 12K students; they probably sell 15K tags. Parking is a quacking NIGHTMARE here.

AH! I was confused.
Damn, I wish I had known about Global Fest before 30 seconds ago.

Being the flagship institution has its priviledges, I guess. I don't know how packed UTC is, but UTK has been successful recently with acquiring property in Fort Sanders, so expansion has been easier for them.

Yeah, but you get to walk across a beautiful river in a very clean downtown.
Jeans with Lycra for Men are pretty amazing. They do not have to be skinny, but since moving up the jean quality chain, I have to say, I really enjoy wearing jeans when I didn't before.
My favorite Pair. It does not even feel like you are wearing pants.
Also Bonzai's school sounds different, but this isn't something I could ever be sympathetic too.

It's a very small, urban school. There isn't enough space for everyone to have a spot- even more so than the big universities. The parking lot I usually park in isn't even near any dorms. So it's not even a matter of Faculty/Staff get the good spots and students are screwed. It's just a matter of kids trying to sneak their cars on campus. If you want an urban school the parking will be extremely limited. If you want more space, go rural. Faculty/Staff HAVE to commute, so we HAVE to have a space. An 18-year old living on campus does not have to.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

luckily we can park for free at the stadium and ride the bus at my school. wish I had known that before my 3 parking tickets in a lot that is never even close to full.

Apparently your schools are very unorganized as far as parking. At Arizona the Parking and Transportation Department is big shiz. It doesnt matter if you are a Freshmen or The President of the University, you pay the same fee. Every lot and garage is a different permit, except two zoned areas on the outskirts of campus. The annual fee is somewhere between 350 and 550 a semester and if you park some place you shouldn't for more than about 5 seconds you will get a ticket. I guess that's how you have to do it when you have 50,000 students and tons of staff and employees, the vast majority of which live off campus.

PS were you a street shout out on Cash Cab Bonz?
It's not at all unorganized. There is just minimal parking and nothing they can really do about it. So students need to relearn every semester what they can and cannot do. We're only 2,300 students.
Ha! That would make my day if someone thought that I looked smart enough to use me for their shout out on.

I prefer to not have socks on when going to sleep but I'd be lying if I said I never woke up to surprisingly find socks on my feet. I guess sometimes when tired (or drunk) I just don't notice or care.
