narcs are inevitable at an event such as Bonnaroo. If there were only 75 arrests this year, then I'd say that they were seriously slacking off. 75 out of 80,000... that's less than 1%...that's less than .5%... an arrest count like that at a giant music festival like Roo is absolutely unheard of. Compare that to, say, Wakarusa. That festival is narc city, man. cops driving around on four-wheelers at night with night vision goggles on, looking for any activity at all.
The reason I love bonnaroo so much is the fact that the security's attitude is so relaxed and non-threatening. Sure, they do their job when they have to, but otherwise, if you're cool to them, they're cool to you.
And those mounties are totally harmless. They are there for crowd control, basically. I watched a guy smoke while talking to one of them.
did you make it to roo this year? it changed. the horse cops spent their time on radios setting up busts with undercovers. we were camped right near shakedown and observed them doing it constantly all weekend. they used to be friendly and helpful but this year they were too busy being pigs to help out or be friendly.
also i just read an an article about the deaths at spring hookahville. both were drug related btw. but what amazed me is the police talked a bit about the amount of them at hookahville and they said that at any given time there is 15 - 25 uniformed and UC officers at hookahville. with 2 or 3 uniforms walking around and 1 at the gate that leaves 11 - 21 under covers. i had no idea they would have that many. when they did the news conference about the deaths back a couple days after hookahville one of our friends watched it and the guy that had been set up across from us selling waters out of a cooler was a cop. he was there all day. we were set up right on shakedown and dont do any selling of anything so im sure it was just where he decided to setup. but he watched us smoke all day. nuts we messed around with the dude and even offered to smoke with him. he said no thankyou. looking back on it it was pretty obvious. i guess i was nieve. i didnt see him do a thing besdies make a coouple hundered tax free selling ice cold waters. but if they have that at hookahville i wonder how many are at a fest the size of roo.

Man, that sucks about the mounties.. they were one of my favorite parts of Bonnaroo.. I had a half hour long conversation about religion and politics with one last year...oh well good things never last, eh?

I have a feeling things will get better next year. I know a lot of people had similar problems and I'm sure they're bitching to Superfly as well. Hopefully things will change....
I never saw one "narc" let alone uniformed police officer. For those claiming people were/are "narcs" are you 100% without a doubt sure they were UC, or were they just really stoned and acting sketch?
we witnessed several undercover busts from our camp. and i spent quite a bit of time visiting with some friends at their vendor booth and watched the horse people spotting sellers and then directing undercovers by radio as to which person was selling and then they would go and bust em. it was happening all day everyday. its nieve to think that their arent undercover people at every fest there is. whether its private property or not. ive known people that have been busted and when in court there was pics of them having undercover buys from fests over 2 years previous to the bust. so just because there arent a huge amount of arrests at a fest dosent mean they arent building cases. and why bust them at a fest? if youve got them under investigation and have previous UC buys they will wait and pull you over on the way to a big fest when they suspect you might have a bunch. the fact that there arent many arrests is decieveing. they are there looking for big timers and developing cases against them. and they spend their time harrassing small timers while they are there. arresting people costs money. but taking their shit, writing them a ticket, and collecting "taxes" and fines is paying the bills and keeping these dipshits in a job.
First, for that kind of evidence to be admissible, they would need to be moving some serious weight - cops don't set up inter-state snares to catch guys moving some pot.
I'm not trying to get into this argument, and I'm not trying to argue anything. I am genuinely curious to know what, exactly, you meant by this particular statement. (I know I took it out of the context, but I just didn't want to have that giant quote.)

well i didnt say anything about different states or even different counties. not all fests are like roo. there are places that have many fests at the same location. and i didnt say anything about pot either. but thankyou for you 9th grade interpretation of my post. you dont think "suppliers" go to fests with enough to make it worth while for cops? there are large suppliers at most fests. its not all some kid with an ounce of pot. and if i was a cop looking to meet my quota of americans harrassed i might go to a place with thousands of druq users and their suppliers all congregated in one spot and with a relative feeling of a secure/cop free environment where the whole druq trade is pretty open. seems like its a little less hit and miss then profiling people and pulling them over for unwarranted searches with dogs in the big city. the reason cops have quotas is because thats how many busts they need to make to extort enough money to keep paying themselves. plus cops would rather eat donuts and whack off then do their job so quotas are needed. (i think im down to 6th grade now)
and yes i do beleive there is a nation wide druq bust network. its called the dea.
and finally f**k the police. the nazis had orders too. they were just following them. the difference is in germany you were a nazi and had to do what they said under threat of death to you and your family if you refused. cops are making a choice to be cops and 'follow orders' under no threat from anyone.
and btw how would the amount involved have anything to do with it being admissable in court? its either admissable or its not. the amount would have nothing to do with it. i think youve got it a bit twisted.

OK, I don't have a TON of knowledge on this stuff, but I have worked with local, state and some Federal law enforcement officials on a tangential level for several years that touched on drug enforcement to some extent. Here is what MY experience has born out.....the DEA would be the organization that would have the authority to track any dealers through intrastate dealings over periods of time like you are talking about (years of offenses in various states etc). There is NO national database that would track that kind of activity, contrary to popular belief....the NCIC (National Crime Information Database) database, AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System), the car and boat license database, none of them really exists in a format to be able to track those kinds of crimes. Those things can only be tracked in state and local municipal database Police Records Systems databases that are just now coming up to speed and are mostly in proprietary formats that don't integrate with each other or with the NCIC very well. It's a good system that can go mobile in the cars and do a lookup to NCIC on a driver's license! Yes, if you can bust someone at 'Roo with enough stuff on them AT ROO to stick them with a major dealing crime then fine. But you will VERY UNLIKELY be able to couple it with a prior unless there is a prior CONVICTION......not just an investigation. Any prior evidence gathered in another state/providence will be thrown out almost as a matter of course by any good lawyer.....can't be verified by the statues of the local jurisidiction because they are all different. Since I have had to program all the statutes for the municipalities I KNOW how much they vary from city to city and from city to county even!
I am no authority on anything but I know for a fact that there is a very tight, long running, completely connected "culture" flowing in and out of "events" such as Bonnaroo dating back to....... forever ago.
well like i said the pics werent of him selling weed. unfortunatly for him the cops hate E and L too. and it wasnt at roo. like i said cops can investigate someone for selling at many fests for years all at one place. no following around the country is required. and i know they dont just pick a random dealer to follow. have you ever got to talking with some of the sellers at fests? alot of them run their mouths. ive seen people who whip out a bag of 500 rolls to sell ya 3 or 4. if that happened you dont think cops might bs with him like i did and find out way too much info? if i was a cop and this dude was talking to me telling me all of his business like he did i would start an investigation against him and try to bring down a whole network as opposed to arresting this one dude. there is nothing random about that. cops look for morons that talk too much and try to exploit them for larger gains. and thats what happened. personally i think 75 arrests is quite a few. like i said they are more into writing tickets, extorting 'taxes", and letting you go continue your weekend then aking arrests. i think we would all be amazed and disgusted to hear the amount of money that the pigs make off of roo in "taxes' and fines. not to mention i would not be surprised at all if alot of seized stuff is then resold by cops to line thier pockets even more. or are we still in fairy tale land where cops are excellent people and dont do things like that? they are just there to protect and serve. what a worthwhile, helpful, and friendly bunch they are. im glad they do so much to keep me safe from those 80,000 druq crazed criminals at roo. other wise the reefer madness would infect everyone and we would cannibalize each other. job well done!
There was just an article in the manchester paper the other day about a city cop here who got arrested. Appernetly the nieghbors called the cops on the cop and his wife cause they were fighting. When the cops got there, the pissed off wife told them that he was dirty and that he had pot and pipes in his desk drawer. They looked and sure enough he had two ounces of pot and 3 glass pieces in his drawer.
When questioned, the cop said he had confiscated the weed and pipes off of someone at bonnaroo and had put it in the trunk of his patrol car. Then he forgot about the stuff and when cleaing out his car last weekend, he found it in there.
this was just last week, so roo has been over for like two months now. if he was going to turn it in as confiscated contraband, then why the hell did he take it in his house?
It is highly possible that he confiscated it at roo, but he never intended on turing it in, that mofo was smoking datshit!
Pigs make me sick too dude!

lol. im sure it was just an honest mistake. cops dont do stuff like that.
this has been posted elsewhere but i think it also applies in here.
William Hoak claims in his lawsuit that his so-called "rice creeper treat" was overtaxed under Tennessee's illegal substance tax.
He said authorities issued fines to him based on the weight of the entire Rice Krispies treat, which included cereal, marshmallows and other ingredients - rather than just the marijuana.
Hoak has been fined more than $11,000 in taxes, interest and penalties by the state Revenue Department.
Under the illegal substance tax, suspects arrested for possession of illegal drugs are taxed based on the weight of the drug. They can avoid being fined for tax evasion by anonymously buying stamps from the Revenue Department to be affixed to the drug's packaging, though drug possession is still illegal.
how can this behavior be tolerated? its a f**king pot treat!!!!!! its a plant!!!! f**king morons!! 11 grand. ya thats fair. "its not about money its about safety." anyone who believes that and supports these assh0le pigs is a part of the problem and disgusts me too. and ive got a bridge id like to sell ya. our police force and government is the largest criminal organization in the world. its sickening. how can anyone say that they arent just doing this nuts so they can keep all of these dipshits in a job? its disgusting and anyone who chooses to do this for a living is disgusting too.

And finally, people need to cut cops some slack - it's their job.
Well, every cop around where I live (Athens, and Roswell) are just assholes who carry out orders to make money for the cities. Athens is in Clarke County, which is the poorest county in Georgia; while Roswell is pretty well-off, but has no other source of income with the exception of fining people. There are so damn many of them around me, but the thing that I can't stand is they have nothing to do. This is why I don't understand why there are so many. Everytime I see a cop in Roswell, he/she is just parked in just enough cover to not be seen by oncoming cars to ticket them for speeding, or if they are lucky, find some form of a controlled substance on the driver.
I doubt that all cops are bad people, I've found Fulton County (Around Atlanta and neighboring cities) and Atlanta Police officers to be quite friendly and helpful.
However, to all Athens and Roswell cops:
(Ahem.....Cough, cough.....)
Get a real job, assholes. Oh, and if you ever call my house or come to my door about fund raisers for your department and refer to it as a "favor for our community", do me a favor. Next time I get busted, let me go.
Again, this goes out to Clarke County and Roswell Cops. (I dearly hope one of you sees this, you pompous wastes of space.)

This was my first Roo and my friends and I were camped out in BFE. The first day we were there we saw a group of older folks on an ATV taking pictures of person(s) smoking the mary jane. I assumed this is what they were doing because they had a black shirt on w/ a marijuana leaf on the back and it had a big red "X" over it. I was really suprised by this, but we did only see them that one day. After we all got over the suprise, we Boo'd them. It just seemed proper

Right the Fuck on Man !!
And RooLacksReality: I live in Gainesville, FL (very similar to Athens) And I know exactly what you are talking about. If I drive not even 3/4 of a mile to go to the store I see like 5 cop cars. They are everywhere here too without reason, I mean there is hardly anything for them to do except harass, it sucks ass.
When I first started this thread the only response I got was : "chill out man and be positive, I didn't see any UC's or narcs "
I wasn't selling but I was photographed near someone who was, and I was followed by narcs for a long time they were asking me to sell them stuff, and some were even trying to start fights with me (anything for an arrest)...... needless to say I won't be back..... That festie is to mainstream and as long as it is that way it will be crawling with cops.
I think that the people who think that there weren't any Mounties with other interests than horse riding were smoking too much to understand what was going on around them.

Hell yeah it does.
Karma to us. We deserve something for having to give the state our taxes to hire more, desperately needed police officiers.

Dudewheresmyroo is right thier are huge drug dealers at bonnaroo. Large amounts of all types of goods come in each year from groups of 5 to 20 people. It is a job to these poeple and no narc will stop them. Last year I meet a rasta from Cali who told me he had brought over $50,000 worth of tar and doses, and he also gave me some goods for free for helping him set up at tent. This guy had fried his brain and couldnt set up a 2 pole tent.(hard drugs really are bad). So to say they dont have narcs at the roo is just being a smart ass. Thats all I want to say on this topic.
Lets Just make it plain and simple . "There are NARC"S EVERYWHERE" in your workplace, schools, where you live , a narc to me is anyone who is a SNITCH , could be that nosey lady next door who constantly watch's everything you do . the mailman, the paperboy all poss Narcs . In this world today just about everything you do is covered one way or another on video, Too me if you sell drugs and you get caught , oh well its part of the game , who said the quote '' if you cant do the time , dont do the crime'' Baretta?... point is narcs are everywhere
