It wouldn't surprise me to see the Dr. show up during Gregg Allman's set on Sunday since he plays piano on every track of the latest album produced by T Bone Burnett. I could picture him maybe sitting in with Galactic also with the New Orleans connection. Toussaint, I could really see him doing Bacchus with Galactic

Interviewer: The set is two hours long, and the album is only about an hour. Are you guys going to be playing some more of Dr. John's extended catalogue?
George Porter Junior: The album isn't even one hour, it's only 39 minutes long. We haven't discussed what's going to happen with that. From what I understand, The Meters are supposed to play a one-hour set, and then Dr. John is going to play a one-hour set. That's the understanding I have. So, you know, it will all come together Thursday and Friday.
I would assume the Dr. John set would be with the Meters?
That's what I assumed as well. Seemed like he was saying they'd do the album and then a set of other Dr. John tunes. I can't imagine them having these musicians up on stage and just being like "okay....you're done. get out now". We'll see.

the meters are going to play with dr. john. they played on the original recording. allen toussaint produced it. they're all going to play on it.

Yea I got that. I was just saying that I didn't think that they would make The Meters leave after Desitively Bonnaroo was over. Like, the "Dr. John" part of the set would be Dr. John and the meters playing other Dr. John songs....once they finished the regular album.

You think so?
I was thinking that they would play Desitively Bonnaroo and then a bunch of Dr. John stuff.....but you could be right.

read the george porter thread. i should have just linked it the first time, but i figured you read every thread haha.
I did read that thread. I posted the link from the interview and the exact quote in this thread a few posts back.
I think that the wording of the interview is a bit off and tay just misinterpreted it. I felt like the set would be Dr. John and the meters play Desitively Bonnaroo and follow it with some other meters/john songs but I could also see it the way you're describing it happen. Also...it doesn't seem like George knows all the details of what will definitely happen. We'll see in a few days.

oh, you did post that haha. well it seems pretty clear to me that he said the meters will play an hr., then they will play desitively, then he doesn't know what they will do with the rest of the time. but he thinks they have 2 hr. and they only have an hour an a half right?. so it will be probably be like 45 min. of the meters and then destively.

Yeah, I did biff that. We got our time zones messed up and he called for the interview while I was grocery shopping so I didn't have the sched in front of me. I'm lucky I even had my recorder.
As far as misquoting, that I did not do. George is indeed under the impression that The Meters are playing a Meters set the first half. Does that mean it's going to happen? Who knows; it's obviously they haven't talked this out and plan to figure it out when they get to the farm.
