Or, Alice in Chains!!! Chains of course are metal. The original singer Layne Staley was found dead next to several spray-paint cans. The band is from Seattle, home of the Space Needle. And, Seattle is known for being a rainy city.

I wouldn't be surprised at Praxis. It's one of the few new guesses we've seen in the past few pages. Don't really know how they fit into the clue, though.
edit: or Opeth. I don't really know much about them or the theory backing them but people seem to be buying it.

Hey! Here's me trying to help! I went through and listed every guess weve had since Gary tweeted "Sorry, nothing for #1 just yet. Keep at it. RT agenthal: garychardonnay What about #1?" Until his tweet that said "Delightful. By the by, I've seen the correct answer for #1. RT BelgianCumCrabs: garychardonnay Was it good?"
Heres the list! So it has to be one of these!!
Killswitch Engage The Sword Apollo 13 Arcade Fire Kyuss Lives! Edit: I'm doubtful on The Sword. We tweeted that to Gary a good while before he said that he saw a correct answer.
Not necessarily. Kylesa is a metal band, hence I feel #1 relates to metal in a different way. It's metal, a nail is made of steel, he goes by Emperor Steele... I think a metal band is the wrong direction. It's a "metal" band.
Hell if it's not The Sword, and its the element of metal, I'm blindly throwing out The Knife and crossing my fingers
Totally crossing my fingers too!! I would LOVE to see the Knife at Roo this year!
Eagles of Death Metal are theoretically out as well, under the assumption that Homme is not pulling double duty with QotSA. At the very least, it can only be EoDM or QotSA, not both.

Eagles of Death Metal or Queens of the Stone Age or Kyuss.
OK, I know you guys only guessed it as a joke and I know I am a newbie on the board, BUT one of the passengers that died on the Hindenberg, a Zeppelin aircraft, was Chief Radio Officer Willy SPECK, aka his demise....and the crash of the Hindenberg is still known as a "watershed moment" cuz everyone has seen the crash...Plant's touring, Page's rumored to be touring, JPJ is freed up cuz Foo Fighters is doing their own tour rather than Vultures...That is more than just "they were dressed up as astronauts on the greatest hits cd"...and it goes with the "metal" sub-clue(led?), although Zeppelin probably doesnt qualify as nowadays metal, but...if someone is guessing Sabbath just because someone said "metal", that has more legs...granted, drummer's schedule is still fully booked
I gotta say, that sounds convincing. Which is the reason con men can be so successful.
I'm just sayin - I can make more of an argument for the entire clue than anyone else on that list
thats great, but it still doesn't mean that Zep is playing Bonnaroo, and we're pretty close to the clue being solved, the last thing we need are head-in-the-clouds derailments. We should focus on that list. It's in there somewhere.
and to reply to someone before, it's definitely not The Sword, because we guessed them for #1 with Kylesa and Gary said there were still no good guesses for #1.

Not trying to rain on your parade, t7r7t, but someone tries to make every clue fit Led Zep every year. Every. Year.
I would love for the answer to be them, but I highly doubt that it is. Mostly because Plant is touring with Band of Joy right now, and I don't think he'll take time off for a one-off reunion in Tennessee.
Hope I didn't come off as being harsh to you, t7r7t, it's just that I'm pretty sure that there will not be a Led Zeppelin reunion ever. There was one in the works for some time around '07/'08 but it didn't happen and they said that it probably won't ever. If it does, the first date they announce will not likely be Bonnaroo. I personally love that they haven't tarnished their reputation by clinging to their past. They are one of the only bands from the golden age of rock music that are still doing new (relevant) things.
edit: that was in direct response to a post by t7r7t that is no longer there?
