If we're going with Elton, I would say we should use the second definition of speckled. He's known for projecting different personalities while on stage....
Ugh, I just can't make Elton fit with the whole clue though....
There's also the fact that Elton John... doesn't really fit the Bonnaroo vibe (imo)
Also, he just had a kid with his partner, like, within the last month. I can't imagine he'll be touring too much with an infant at home.
Didn't he just do an album/collaboration with Leon Russell? He would definitely fit the 'watershed' part of the clue as he put out an album (in 2006) that was named "A Mighty Flood".

Will someone with twitter tweet katie and ask if she is going to confirm when the clue has been solved, and while you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to ask if she is going to drop some hints or tell us if we are on the right track.
I know this is totally out there, but hang with me. Apollo 13 starred Tom hanks. Wilson was the name of the ball in Castaway. All the David Bowie references- also a phish song. Its phish. (This is not serious ) .

AUGH sorry guys I am a horrible person and apparently spaced out and didn't pay attention for a few days! Blah, I feel so bad. Didn't think they'd be starting up so quickly!
BUT I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED, and now I am here! Haha. I shall go read through everything post haste and report back to you shortly.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Lady Gaga? Wasn't she going to open for MJ's This is It tour ? I would have to say opening for him would be watershed, but clearly she has shown she didn't need his help afterall?

I looked at the artists that I got from the Apollo 13 theory and I have narrowed it down some.
Apollo Sunshine Apollo 440 Apollo Brown
And I'm going to throw this out there. The lingo in the clue ( lad and watershed ) seemed to be from the UK. Apollo 440 is the only of the three to be from the UK.

I feel like ruling Apollo Brown out is easy enough, since I don't think a single one of us has ever heard of such a band. My crack research team says Apollo 440 is feasible, but I dunno. I've never heard of them before today.
Nah but his latest album was Fly me to the Moon. It was released in 2010. It didn't do that great I am guessing. Also, his solo career started when Faces broke up if I remember right.
Arcade Fire Radiohead Apollo Sunshine Elton John Foo Fighters David Bowie Explosions in the Sky Cold War Kids
any other plausible guesses?
Big Boi, as in the Big Boy in Austin Powers International Man Of Mystery when it can't be thwarted into space as the franchise is kaput.
While I do think Big Boi is plausible as a performer at this year's 'roo, I don't see how on earth this logic connects firmly enough to the cloo for it to be a good guess here.

hey ... i love rod. i was just asking. i hate it if you felt i was questioning you. i just really wanted to know where you were coming from
"Thwarted by a speckled lad's demise" -- The speckled lad could be Richard Branson? He does look like a redhead, and redheads can have many freckles. They are a speckly bunch. He is also british, so there is the "lad" part. Also, airlines are definitely going down south as far as business is concerned. Especially with Virgin Airlines and Richard branson. here's a pic:
"A watershed moment otherwise" -- even if Muse isn't one of the first one's to do so, bands playing in outerspace will definitely happen at one point.
what I'm lost on though, and the one part I can't fill in is where does the "demise" fit in? Could the "demise" be the fact that the technology and public interest/$$$ isn't around yet? That's what is demising Richard Branson and muse from playing in space? Or the demise of virgin airlines? Branson himself is dwindling out of being the main man there anyhow...
