Ravi Shankar is 90 years old. As great as the chance to see a legend and incredible musician and person such as that would be, do you think someone of his age would play an outdoor festival in the summer in Tennessee?
As must as I would love to see it myself, I just don't see it happening. His last concert was early 2008 and he hasn't been to the United States for a concert since 2003. Also, shouldn't MMJ be listed behind Further and Depeche?

Just to correct you, Ravi Shankar has done concerts in 2009. I saw him myself in October of 2008. Plus I had MMJ as second as the Friday Headliner, with Furthur as the Sunday Headliner. Also having Depeche Mode in the Jay-Z/NIN slot.
Really bad about knowing where artists would be in relation to each other but I think this would be a pretty fun lineup.
U2 * Tom Waits * Daft Punk * Arcade Fire * My Morning Jacket Portishead * The Strokes * Aphex Twin * Ryan Adams * Black Star Spiritualized * Fever Ray * Sound Tribe Sector 9 * Big Boi * Guided By Voices Neko Case * Grizzly Bear * Devendra Banhart * Flying Lotus * Tortoise John Frusciante * Yonder Mountain String Band * Black Lips * Caribou * Dungen Black Moth Super Rainbow * Railroad Earth * Brad Mehldau * Tallest Man On Earth * Deerhunter Tea Leaf Green * Big Gigantic * Isis * Old Crow Medicine Show * Nomo JJ Grey & Mofro * Akron/Family * Cunninlynguists * The Octopus Project Dead Confederate * Baths * Fang Island * Woods * Wavves

It's really a matter of AC/Superfly getting their head out of their asses and booking better electronic acts for late night sets. LCD was a big step forward this past year, but booking Underworld would be a great way to prove that wasn't a one time thing.
Stop booking Tiesto/Deadmau5/Paul Oakenfold and start booking good electronic music.

I think the best electronic/dance/DJ act Roo has booked thus far has been DJ Shadow and every year since then they've failed to deliver. LCD was a great step in the right direction, but no more of this Oakenfold, Sasha, Tiesto, Pretty Lights, Deadmau5, etc garbage. Bring us some SUBSTANCE (no, Daft Punk definitely doesn't count as substance, in my eyes).
Give me a break. Daft Punk has substance. Daft Punk is intelligent in their stubborn insistence on making fun music. They know what they're doing. No need to get snotty about electronic music. Just because it's fun doesn't mean it's bad or it has less value.
Forgive me, I fail to see what's to Daft Punk aside from unoriginal, mediocre dance music with glossy exterior. Muuuuch like the other acts I mentioned. You don't think Roo could do better for electronic representation than Daft Punk?

That said, I'd love it for all of you, and I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion or start arguments. You all know my opinions on the matter. If we get em, I'm genuinely happy for you and most likely people in my group, as I know allot of you love them. I'm not trying to be "snotty"... well maybe I am, but in a lighthearted, "IMO not matter of fact", tongue in cheek way.
I just say instead of one massive electronic group, a slightly less popular one (Chem Bros, Portishead, Massive Attack, Kraftwerk, Underworld) and a couple of quality tent acts (Shadow, Fly Lo, Aphex Twin, or others).
People, don't take MY opinions too seriously... that's alllllll they are
If we're looking for an electronic headliner, aside from DP, I don't think there are very many. Maybe Moby, like a full set, not just DJ.
If a headlining/top 5 spot for DP, is to open the doors for more different styles and degrees of popularity for electronic acts (as was suggested by NoD a while back), then I'm all for it.

I wasn't trying to "disprove" bishop, necessarily, I am just cautious towards musical snobbery for a whole host of reasons. Not that bishop is snobby, be clearly isn't, I just object to the insinuation that Daft Punk is somehow dumb. It's one thing to say you dont like an artist, its a whole 'nother to insinuate that an artist (especially a revered one like DP) is dumb and, as I said, I'm sensitive to that. That's all. Not trying to start arguments.

The Cure might be touring next year. I don't think they'd have a big enough appeal with the Bonnaroo crowd to get a headlining spot (although they did just headline Coachella a couple years ago) but I could see them on Which or What late night.
