Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm not sure how it is setup for the festival but its a place that seeing it from a ways back is better than close. The venue is better if you can get a feeling of the whole place and not have your line of sight be just the stage.

yeah sasquatch's lineup is better than bonnaroo's overall (although admittedly there's a lot of overlap between the roo '09 lineup and sasquatch, so maybe the gap isn't THAT big). must be nice to live out west and have your choice between coachella and sasquatch. dunno what sasquatch is like, but i've heard nice things about the gorge.
bonnaroo is pretty much my default fest due to location; they'd have to put out a simply atrocicous lineup for me not to go. still, there's still enough meat in roo's lineup - including some awesome latenight possibilities - for me to know that i'll have a great time.
if roo could just snatch a band on the level of mmj or pavement or massive attack - and then maybe an act like simian mobile disco, it would really help the lineup for me.

I really don't think that it's all that good of a lineup. The only bands they have that Bonnaroo doesn't have that I would want to see is Massive Attack, My Morning Jacket, Simian Mobile Disco, MGMT, Boys Noize, and Portugal. The Man...(& Pavement for some... not me). I'm not impressed.
I haven't updated my last.fm page in a VERY long time (like since 2007). Long enough that my most popular artists are Lily Allen, Buck 65, and The Streets.
You really want to know why? Because the lineup is way deeper than people are giving AC/SF credit for. I can name 40 artists on the lineup SO FAR that I would pay to see on their own - and I can't STAND DMB. The hip-hop this year is excellent. The late nights are going to be strong -- FLips, LCD, Deadmau5, Bassnectar, Dan Deacon and Chromeo/Hall. I am in love with the punk/harder stuff that we have so far in Rise Against, Against Me!, GWAR, Dropkicks, The Melvins, and even Clutch. The indie is nice too - Dead Weather, Tokyo Police Club, She & Him, Phoenix. We have LEGENDS like Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Cliff, Kris Kristofferson and Johns Prine & Fogerty. And we have artists that I've just heard of who I really like like Neon Indian, Fanfarlo and Here We Go Magic.
I'm excited because I like a whole lot of kinds of music - I really like how completely diverse the lineup this year. I frankly like the lineup a LOT more than last year (my first roo). Let me make something clear - I can't STAND Phish. Their music, their fans, everything. Yet I still found it possible to actually partially enjoy their Sunday show (the corn helped) and despite the fact they played TWICE on the weekend, I had one of the best times of my life. I am willing to accept the fact that Daft Punk, Neil Young, and Arcade Fire aren't on the lineup and that despite that -- it's going to be an awesome time and I'm going to see dozens of bands that I'm gonna enjoy.

The whining by people just doesn't make sense - we have a great lineup. Just not the one that everyone expecting. Whining and complaining doesn't change anything -- so look at what IS there and you'll see how deep and eclectic it is.
Let's put it this way -- I am never, EVER, going to see Jimmy Cliff, GWAR, Norah Jones and Deamau5 in the same place ever again in my life.
I think people are getting angry because Bonnaroo has always had the lineup, throughout the decade, that made people say "damn! that's a nice lineup". They have always been one step above everyone else (except for maybe Coachella). This year, they obviously slightly dropped the ball, no matter how you spin it.
After the initial letdown wore off, I think some of us realized that it's not that bad of a lineup - just sub-par for Bonnaroo. However, this week especially, we've come to realize that a lot of the bands that we wanted for Bonnaroo, that would have made us happy, are touring and for some reason or another aren't playing Bonnaroo. Now, some argue "maybe their contracts fell through" or they had "prior tour obligations", but I mean, come on - I have a hard time seeing why a lot of bands wouldn't want a prime spot at the biggest festival in the country.
We have seen that Furthur is playing Nateva & All Good, My Morning Jacket is playing Sasquatch/JazzFest and Arcade Fire is playing Lolla - arguably the 3 acts (after Neil & Roger) that everyone unanimously would agree would make a better lineup and fill in the missing gaps. Umphrey's is playing All Good & Waka, Roger is 99.9% touring, Pavement is playing many festivals, Levon Helm is playing Mountain Jam, Allmans are playing JazzFest/Wanee.
Are you telling me that they tried - and failed - to get Furthur, My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, Roger Waters, Umphrey's McGee, and Pavement, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Allman Brothers... - bands that an overwhelming majority of people here, and usual attendees at Bonnaroo, want to see and are obviously touring this summer and willing to play festivals? It's frustrating looking at the bands we all wanted to see playing festivals across the country.
I went to both Sasquatch and Roo last year. The Gorge is a really really nice venue, but there is a higher chance of rain at the Gorge in May than at Roo in June, and also there seem to be a ton of people crammed into a small space at Sashquatch. There are no ins-and-outs at Sashquatch. You have to bring all your gear for the day in which totally sucks with so many people. I remember crammed in and everyone having huge backpacks. Also sitting on that hill for 3 days gives you a perma wedgie. Roo is a better experience without a question but Sashquatch is fun too.
really? i thought sasquatch was less crowded than bonnaroo, but the backpack thing is very true.

I fail to see how MMJ playing at a festival a week before 'roo means they will not be playing both. Maybe I'm missing something, or am just stupidly hopeful that they'll be added to the Bonnaroo lineup.

Well, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. I'll hold off on my disappointment until I am sure that I should be let down.
I also don't think Sasquatch's lineup is better. There are a few acts that I would have liked to see at Bonnaroo, but once you get down into it, eh. I guess it's all just a matter of taste.
For what it's worth, I like some of Sasquatch's lineup this year, but allot of those are bands Roo has seen before, and very few in the way of legends, new indie buzz groups, cool harder rock bands, Roo has all those in spades.
This Sasquatch looks like a "Best of Other Festival's Previous Lineups 2010". Which isn't a bad thing, Bonnaroo just has a more fresh feel to it (not really in the sense of the headliners, but third line and down).
