I don't quite see how this completely removes the chances of MMJ at Bonnaroo. Assuming the theory that Bonnaroo is waiting a bit because MMJ is playing the area around that time, then MMJ headlining Sasquatch doesn't really mean anything in regards to Roo, no?
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
You know what really pisses me off, that it seems like a lot of people here don't understand? Bonnaroo is my go-to Fest. I love Bonnaroo. I represent for Bonnaroo when people talk festies. I have always been proud of Bonnaroo, because it has always been the best. I think a lot of you are like me in that regard.
This year is sooo different. I (we) have been very let down. And I've heard all the excuses (e.g. good bands are touring Europe this summer, no one's available... etc etc). That's a bunch of crap. I wouldn't be so pissed, but look at Coachella's line-up and now look at Sasquatch's line-up. If everyone's line-up sucked, I'd be less inclined to bitch about all of this, but those two fests have their best line-ups in a few years. Bonnaroo's is the worst I have ever seen it. Talk about asleep at the F'ing wheel. AC/Superfly are showing themselves to be complete idiots.
At this rate, they HAVE GOT TO drop one or two new headliners.

biglou and i went last year, and we're going again this year. they have regular and premier camping. we went premier last year - we had a shuttle to the fest. however, the showers were a joke - 2 for men, 2 for women, you had to wait an hour+ for a shower and then it was so cold you could only spend about 3 minutes in it before hypothermia set in. hopefully, they fix that this year. we were also supposed to get free coffee/movies, i guess, but i don't think that happened either. we are staying at the wildhorse campground nearby this year. they provide a shuttle, free showers, and have a cafe. www.wildhorsecampground.com/
they do have a noise curfew, so no late nights. the last show starts at about 10 or 11pm. i think the sets are shorter because of it. there is nothing there like centeroo which sucks, but if there's a lot on the lineup you like (and it looks like there is for me , you won't have a lot of downtime anyway.
on the other hand, the gorge is beautiful, the weather is perfect, and it's not near as crowded as bonnaroo. i guess it depends on what you like. sasquatch is more laid back whereas bonnaroo is a better late night/party fest.

Yep, other festivals are stepping their games up. The fests that wanted to be jamfests (Waka, Wanee) nailed it. Fests that go for a more indie-like lineup (Coachella, Sasquatch) knocked it out of the park. It's like Bonnaroo couldn't figure out the identity it wanted to go for and just ended up tripping over its own feet.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.
Stinks. I had a feeling we wouldn't get MMJ this year, so I'm very glad I get to see them in April in ATL.
That being said, other than MMJ I don't think Sasquatch!'s lineup is all that stellar. I guess if you are into Pavement and Massive Attack it is, but I'm not. A lot of Bonnaroo retreads otherwise.

Yeah. I mean, I'm not going to pretend that I don't understand that Bonnaroo is continually trying to broaden it's appeal to more people, but at the smae time, it's a very fine line to walk to opening up your fan base and becoming simply blasé. Bonnaroo used to (and in some cases, still does) picks the absolute best of a genre to showcase, but in regard to the headliners this year, they appear to have only thought about getting the least offensive headliners to everyone, but the favorites to no one. I don't hate DMB, KOL, or Stevie Wonder. But I'd trade all of them for one headliner I'd be excited about plus two that I couldn't stand.

yup. i think bonnaroo is trying too hard to be diverse, but the lineup just ends up being really incohesive.
I don't think being diverse is as much of an issue if the lineup was stronger on jam and indie rock. The festival was built on jam and diversified when they brought in Radiohead and all the major indie rock bands that followed.
Now we get a lineup with practically no jam and scant indie rock types. I think this is why a lot of people are pissed off.

That's a very very good lineup. A lot of bands played Roo in the past (MMJ, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Public Enemy, Broken Social Scene) but also a good amount of bands I've seen people on here wishing Roo got (Pavement, Massive Attack, MMJ again lol).
Very nice guys. If it weren't so far away i'd try to catch it. If travel wasn't an issue I would prefer Roo this year solely based on the amount of bands I know and like......but this is a really killer lineup for sure.
I also think it's cool they have Craig Robinson (from the office) and Garfunkel & Oates (a very funny 2 girl comedy duo who play songs....look 'em up)

Oh...I actually thought that was Garfunkel & Oates as in the lesser parts of the duos "Simon & Garfunkel" and "Hall & Oates," which would have been so much more awesome.

Yea, I guess it's sorta the joke with the band name.....that they're the lesser. I dunno. I stumbled upon them by accident cuz one of the girls had a recurring role on the tv show Scrubs.
garfunkel & oates are funny... i heard of them first from the CDR podcast.
and yeah... it almost seems like bonnaroo purposefully booked cheap bands & weren't listening to what it's biggest supporters were saying about who they wanted to see live.

if we believe what Alex from CoS said and Bonnaroo was trying to book Neil but things fell apart then i'd say they were listening......they just didn't pull through in the end with Neil. That's assuming what 0llo said was true.

Damn. There's no denying Sasquatch has a tight lineup this year... I might end up makin the big ole road trip out to Washington. I'm at peace with the Roo lineup by now, but Sasquatch has pretty much all the acts I'm really excited about and then some. LCD Soundsystem, the Hold Steady, and Broken Social Scene are three of the acts I wanna see most right now.

I don't know much about Massive Attack or Pavement so for me the headliners aren't as great. But that's just because of my musical ignorance. Give me 6 months and all of those two band's albums and I bet I'd be more upset about this.
