Garth Algar: Do you ever get the feeling Benjamin's just using us?
Wayne Campbell: Good call. It's like he wants us to be liked by everyone. I mean Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees.
That's pretty incredible for a band that big to do something cool like that. You except a ship that big to require space the size of a football field to be able to turn around. You know what I mean? Being able to turn on a dime like that is impressive.
Is it only covers? Cause i'd love to try and stump them on seaside bar song. Hopefully it wouldnt work and they played it.
I love that song. But to answer your question, no, it doesn't have to be a cover. I've heard Trapped (technically a cover but I don't consider it one), Fire, The Fever, Give the Girl A Kiss, Rosalita, Growin' Up, Prove It All Night and I'm Goin' Down on this tour as non-cover sign requests already.

My stump the band pick would be I Second That Emotion. That would be sweet.
Can't remember right off the top of my head, but I know Bruce has some sort of history with Smokey.Probably played together at one of the RR HOF functions over the years.
And IIRC,when Rolling Stone had that issue (last year,I think) where they published the handwritten ballots various people had submitted for the "Greatest Vocalist" poll,Bruce listed Smokey in his Top 10... Gotta believe that Bruce has covered "Tears of a Clown" at some point...
jungleland incident on 57th 10th avenue freeze-out
play those 3, and everything else is cream cheese.
I'm predicting that 10th is a given, since he played it at Pinkpop. Jungleland is HIGHLY likely, given a 3 1/2 hr slot. And Incident is probably 50/50.Out In The Street and Spirit seem pretty likely as well, and I'm hoping for Racing and Because the Night. And once he sees the awesome inforoo sign for Blinded,I'm sure we'll get that as well...
Is anyone doing sign requests@bonnaroo? I'm thinking of making one for seaside bar song now. Hopefully I can get close enough to the stage for this.
Just an FYI
I will have posterboards and markers left over from an earlier show at my campsite,if anyone wants to make signs. There is a group of us Bruce fans who will be camped in the access area, and I believe we will have a huge flag for Camp GreasyLake with pictures of Bruce and Clarence on it.
Feel free to drop by and visit,I'd love to meet any of you.We are hosting a party following the Bruce show, which should last past the late night shows as well, and all friendly folks are invited. For anyone not going to late night Sat shows, the plan is to meet about 1:15 A under the Arch, and move to Camp GreasyLake from there. (more info on BTX).You can also check out my FB page (Tim Tomlin) or the Springsteen Bonnaroo 2009 FB group to get more info
signs at a show are cheesy and annoying to anyone behind you. (same goes for sporting events)
Yeah, but as long as people only hold the signs up at the appropriate times which is actually very obvious if you are paying attention, it can be a lot of fun.
He took our sign request last year and it is definitely one of the coolest moments of my life. He kept pointing to us and it definitely helped convert my friends.

Yea the only time it's really appropriate to hold you sign is during Raise Your Hand in the middle of the set. It shouldn't be an issue. Bruce simply walks around and gathers them all up.

For people unfamiliar with the sign gathering during Raise Your Hand, here is an excellent video showing how it works. This is from the DC show a few weeks back...
Couple of interesting notes, the Blinded sign which he ignored at that show, but he picked a few shows later. And the "Obama wants Rosie" sign, which was later autographed and delivered to the Prez at the White House. After Rosie was played,of course...
OK I'm seeing some weather reports calling for quite a bit of rain. It was rainy, and by the looks of things pretty cold in Stockholm 8 hrs or so ago.Of course the crazy Swedes had been camped out for the past 2 or 3 days so they didn't care.Check out the cold weather gear everyone is wearing...
I hate rain, although it isn't bad on a hot day.But it would almost be worth a soggy 'Roo to be able to hear this...

Some of the best shows I've seen have been in the pouring rain. One of my favorite Bruce moments was at Giants Stadium when he walked out and was getting poured on with us and during Mary's Place screaming the "Let it rain - Let it rain" parts as the skies opened up.
I really would love some Beacuse The Night too! I am interested to see how this show goes.
From completely MIA to being played 2 shows in a row, including this tour premiere Tues night in Finland.Possibly prepping for a major sing along at 'Roo?
If anyone wants a zip file of a lot of the songs he's been playing every night along with a few others and some rarities, I put together a "basics' file and uploaded it to megaupload. Drop me a private message if you want the link.

Crunchy for this.......take him up on the offer. It's a good collection and is helping prepare me for Roo.

Haha wow...Im pretty sure we were at that same show at Giants stadium. I remember people down on the floor dancing in the rain.
