A fairly pedestrian setlist at Pinkpop last night, before a crowd estimated between 65-70,000. They only played 2 1/2 hrs,up against a strong curfew. There was a late release of same day tickets which were snapped up by hardcore Bruce fans, but the estimates I saw had the numbers of non-fans at about 2/3 of the crowd.
The signs were out in force, resulting in the tour premiere of From Small Things,as well as I'm On Fire and this awesome version of Trapped. The Killers played the preceding set,and Bruce brought Flowers out to duet on TR.Remember that Jay is back in Cali,so the setlist is probably influenced by the fact that Jay played the entire show, and did an awesome job,btw...
Garth Algar: Do you ever get the feeling Benjamin's just using us?
Wayne Campbell: Good call. It's like he wants us to be liked by everyone. I mean Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees.
I really would love some Beacuse The Night too! I am interested to see how this show goes.
Because The Night is definitely a possibility, not sure if it's been played yet this tour or not. We'll definitely get Badlands, and this clip from Dutch TV is Amazing!!

Brandon Flowers duet at Pinkpop? That god The Killers are not playing Roo because that would not be something I want to see (Not that I have anything against the Killers but come on..)
Its pretty definite that someone will collaborate with the Boss at Roo im just wondering who it is. Costello, Trey Anastasio who else is likely candidates?

^^ I hope so! But I'm also wondering if Springsteen won't return the favor. I saw him once walk out on stage with Marah at the Light Of Day in NJ a few years ago.
I can see that happening at Alejandro's set.

that would be very Bruce of him...
Well he's a very Bruce kind of guy...
I don't think I'd fall in love with the idea of a Bruce/AE collaboration, although it's certainly possible, esp since Landau now manages AE.
However,AE was the opener for Bruce at Harleyfest, and there was no collaboration during either show. The duet with Flowers Sat night was rehearsed, and reports had Bruce watching the Killers set from the wings.
At the Nashville show last Aug he brought out Dave from Marah to join the Party on Rosie. And he's very good friends with Elvis C,so that's possible, although not as likely on seperate stages...
The River is my favorite song by him. The lyrics remind me of several life changing summers while I was growing up.
"But I remember us riding in my brother's car Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir At night on them banks I'd lie awake And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take Now those memories come back to haunt me"
Haven't noticed you posting in the Bruce threads before, always nice to hear from other fans.Since you love The River, you've probably seen this before. But even so,it's a clip I particularly enjoy because I remember how excited I was when I first saw clips from the movie.

I need a Bruce mix. SOmething with his awesome tracks and ones that he will probably play at Roo. I'm like a Bruce virgin - only know the big ones - and I'm excited for his set but want to know more. suggestions of songs I should have on a mix?

I would start with what he's been playing often/every night on this tour. Badlands Outlaw Pete Radio Nowhere Working on a Dream Seeds Johnny 99 The Ghost of Tom Joad Raise Your Hand Waiting on a Sunny Day The Promised Land The Wrestler Kingdom of Days Lonesome Day The Rising Born to Run Land of Hope and Dreams American Land
Are almost all locks to be included, and then I'd add in some other songs that are possible:
She's the One Jungleland Thunder Road Tenth Avenue Freeze Out Trapped Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) Prove It All Night Kitty's Back Dancin In The Dark
That's if you want to "study" to maximize song recognition at the show. If you just want to get into Bruce, I'd recommend the Essential 3cd set and Live 75-85 box set as nice overviews of his music. Drop me a pm if you need some of the songs, I could throw them on megaupload or something for you.

Sweet. I just got that 75-85 box set on vinyl from someone's collection. I planned on listening to that a lot over the next few days. I'm also going to try and make a mix with those songs listed. Very much appreciated. Now I gotta find these songs and prepare. mwahahahaha
thanks though. I've been excited for Bruce for a while but took too long to do my homework.
Live versions are almost always better, but here are the studio albums the songs are off of:
I would start with what he's been playing often/every night on this tour. Badlands - Darkness on the Edge of Town Outlaw Pete - Working on a Dream Radio Nowhere - Magic Working on a Dream - Working on a Dream Seeds - can only be found officially released on Live 1975-1985 Johnny 99 - Nebraska, but is played in a new electric arrangement --> The Ghost of Tom Joad - The Ghost of Tom Joad, but is played in an electric arrangement with Nils Lofgren taking the solo instead of Morello --> Raise Your Hand - cover, can be found on Live 1975-1985 Waiting on a Sunny Day - The Rising The Promised Land - Darkness on the Edge of Town The Wrestler - Working on a Dream Kingdom of Days - Working on a Dream Lonesome Day - The Rising The Rising - The Rising Born to Run - Born to Run Land of Hope and Dreams - Live in New York City or The Essential --> American Land - only released on a special release of The Seeger Sessions -->
Are almost all locks to be included, and then I'd add in some other songs that are possible:
She's the One - Born to Run Jungleland - Born to Run Thunder Road - Born to Run Tenth Avenue Freeze Out - Born to Run Trapped - cover which can be found on disc 3 of the Essential --> Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) - The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle Prove It All Night - Darkness on the Edge of Town Kitty's Back - The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle Dancin In The Dark - Born in the USA
A couple more I'd add off the top of my head:
Out in the Street - The River Glory Days - Born in the USA No Surrender - Born in the USA
From a few weeks ago. If he plays this at roo I will go OFF.
I will also go off if he plays this. Dirty song.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Darkness album in its entirety actually. There were rumors that he would do this live at some point for the 30th anniversary of the album. I know he did the born to run album in its entirety for its 30th anniversary in 2005.

Well he has kicked off his current shows with badlands followed by adam raised a cain a couple of times...which are the first two tracks on the album. And the only two tracks he hasn't played from that album on the current tour are factory and streets of fire. Time to think up a sign request to make this happen...
