first of all, i will start by saying i hate kanye. which most of us did before this thing even happened. and i think it was a mistake for him to even be booked. but the fact is, i can see where is coming from with a lot of the stuff he said. sure he doesn't speak or type very eloquently, but i believe most of what he was saying. i believe they really had problems scheduling him and bonnaroo tried to accommodate for him but it was just never going to work. they knew pearl jam was going to play over, they even commented that they wouldn't stop them from doing so. they knew that it would be pretty much impossible for kanye to make it to stage at his set time. why didn't they announce something? i was pissed off and blaming kanye for this, but really, all of the fault for letting the crowd wait for over 2 hr. with no explanation is on bonnaroo. kanye could have said something, but like others have said, that could have made things even worse if he opened his mouth. bottom line bonnaroo should have informed the people what was going on. bonnaroo should have also made a statement after the fact about what went on. they're sitting back and letting everyone blame kanye. everyone that already didn't like kanye in the first place. we were all waiting for something to throw him under the bus for so of course we are going to pile it on. like i said i dislike kanye, but i think bonnaroo should be getting most of the blame for this incident.
I agree with alot on this board but there is some things that are just predtermined bias from before bonnaroo that is spilling over. Does it suck that Kanye was late, yes. But All the logictics surrounding the situation contributed to the problem. PJ ran late and then when the stage crew.. Who obviously isnt kanye just avergae joes like your and me working. You guys pelted them with water bottles and other things that should not be on the stage when you are working with electrical equipment. So yea it all was a bad deal but the crowd tdid not help matters then complained when it took even longer. I mean come on now. You could have left.(superfly shoulda cleared the area to help speed the process) I'm sure you coulda stayed in earshot when the magic started. I mean alot of the blame lays with kanye and his crew.. but he's not the only one
Again, 158 artists, and Kanye was the only one with issues. How many years now? Seven. How many issues like this before Kanye. Zero. Kanye is indefensible. The only mistake Bonnaroo or Superfly made was booking him in the first place. I want an apology for that.
^Unless you want take into account having where he was gonna play switched at the last moment.
bonnaroo had control over that.
From the way his rant sounded they didn't if they wanted him to perform. I still feel that after he pulled that someone set him up to fail, but he did have it switched. Bonnaroo runs as well as it usually does because it is planned out, he screwed the plans up, and he paid for it by putting on a crappy show.

Eh, I didn't see Kanye.
I was disappointed in what happened though.
I'm not going to buy his albums. I'm not going to listen to his songs on the radio. I'm not going to go see him on tour. Simple as that. Economics!
If I wanna hear "Stronger", I can just listen to Daft Punk anyway...haha!
Think about it...in 10 years, everyone will remember Bonnaroo. Everyone will remember Phil Lesh. Everyone will remember Pearl Jam. You know who they won't be remembering? That's right. He's just a blip on the radar. They'll be saying, "Who the fuck is Kanye West?"

If you feel this strongly about it, why would you go to Bonnaroo at all?

quack him. quack him big time. He's the biggest quacking egomaniacal Ann Coulter. But we all knew that. YOU'RE BLAMING SUPERFLY/AC AND PEARL JAM FOR YOUR PATHETIC, TWO-HOUR LATE PERFORMANCE? What about the fact that not one person in your crew came out and said anything? I mean, if you weren't so quacking busy partying in Atlanta, maybe you could've come out and said something yourself. What about the fact that you didn't even play your entire set? What about the fact that once you did come on, you didn't apologize or even address the crowd once? I guess you were too busy fucking your computer. What about the fact that said set actually did SUCK BALLS????
Hopefully, Superfly learned their lesson and won't ever book a bullhonkey act like this again. Kanye's just mad that he'll never have 1/10000000000 as much talent as Pearl Jam or Sigur Ros or Phil Lesh

kanye should have canceled. that would have been the smart move on his part. but he wanted to play and of course bonnaroo wanted him to play. i would like to throw some more blame on bonnaroo. for moving jack johnson to that unusual co-headliner slot. if the allmans had not canceled, maybe none of this would have happened. they would have played their normal time 5:30- 7:30, pearl jam 8:30-11:30, kanye whenever ( i don't know what the actual realistic time frame would have been) or they could have just kept kanye on the which stage, pushed the set back a little so that it was dark and problem solved. jack moving to the slot before pj was a bad move, he should have had the slot before widespread panic, to end the fest on sun.

Not sure how this is confusing, but I'm saying there are no reasons not to go. Kanye was the only negative in a phenomenal weekend. Actually, he is the only negative in three Roos for me. Hope that answers your question.

I understand. I guess what I'm driving at is the notion that Superfly/A.C. would owe you an apology since you are saying that you had a good time otherwise.
I just wrote this to Pitchfork. They're bitches as well:
You should probably get your facts straight the next time you plan on insulting a good, kind crowd of music lovers. What am I talking about?
"Afterward, some of the folks in attendance, apparently offended that a rap show didn't start on time, decided to spray paint the portable toilets in protest, and there was much internet weeping and gnashing of teeth."
While you were busy hyping some terrible band such as Times New Viking, you left out some of the facts regarding the Kanye show. Like the fact that not one person came out and said anything about the show being delayed. Or how people missed other shows, such as Ghostland Observatory and Chali 2na, because they thought Mr. West would start on time. Or how most bands on Sunday were pretty misled with what happened, as well. Especially Robert Randolph, who managed to get a whole tent to chant "Kanye Sucks".
Next time, I'd appreciate it if you got your facts straight and didn't blatantly insult all those who attended the fest.

It's not hard to understand. I agree with him. I had a great weekend, but I do feel that they owe us an apology for what happened. Because I thought Kanye would start on time, I missed out on Ghostland Observatory and Chali 2na. It's not like my ticket was free

Ok this I can understand and agree with. At the time, I was also upset about this. Fair enough.
All the grumblings aside I think this is the best dark comedy tabloid fodder in along time. I was just happy to be apart of it all and wasn't and still am not pissed, actually entertained.
I don't care for Kanye one way or another but was one of the many hanging out to watch his show, I enjoyed it while it lasted.
I just have a couple points to Kanye's rant:
*Come on man, if you are this leader of hip hop then Kanye should of realized the issue (starting with the specs, then not getting his truck in on time, then when how late the start time would be) to adjust and go out and freestyle and bring the house down.
* If he gives it his all why wouldn't Kanye be at Bonnaroo the night of the show instead of hangin out with his friends?
*Why end the show early, rock it out sunshine or not? He missed an opporunity to turn a tragedy into something epic.
* He doesn't take any accountability, not one iota, nothing was his fault. I may be more willing to side with Kanye somewhat if he said he should of spoke to the crowd, pulled out completely because of the games ‘Roo was playing early on, understood why people would be pissed at 4 in the morn, or just hade a n inch of introspect. I truly believe this will be his downfall.

PJ Crew vs Kanye Crew.

WHen you say "everyone" you mean the 60,000 people that attended Bonnaroo, and not the 20 some odd million who have bought Kanye's records?
