i'm not sure about him ending phil's set early i know chali 2na didn't end early because of him, speaking of which i hope someone taped that show as galactic was great that night
didnt chali 2na start earlier though? i coulda sworn i heard him from tent only well before he was supposed to go on.
superfly never acknowledges it. that's my prediction...
nothing good can come of some pissing match between them. although, i dont think superfly is completely innocent either.
Agreed. I think, as usual, Superfly will take the high road on this one and not comment... At this point, they have Outside Lands to run and are already looking toward next year's Roo headliners
I like how the Kanye story is right next to the Axl Rose/Chinese Democracy/FBI story. It's your one-stop sorce for arrogant, idiotic musician news. Thanks bitchfork.

I really hope the people at South Park do an episode about Kanye West. Something to the likes of the Bono episode from last season. That would be hilarious.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
"You know, I'm starting to like Kanye. I used to think he was a total tampon with douchey sunglasses, but now I'm digging his mini-emotional-breakdowns that are best expressed in CAPS. He's like that kid in grade school that would start a petition, because he was so angry that they only served chicken nuggets one day a week. I mean, he would get really emotional about it. Kanye sort of dresses like that kid too. I always loved that kid. But I don't love CAPS!"

Some of his rant is true. I talked to someone who dealt with PJ and Kanye both on that Saturday. From what I was told, PJ were putting on the prima donna act as well and have some sort of feud with Kanye that goes back to some time before Bonnaroo. PJ and kanye were arguing with the people in charge of dressing rooms over who gets rooms 1,2,3 etc... equating the numbers on the doors with thier own personal importance. PJ didn't want any of the Kanye people allowed in the artist compound while they were there and Kanyes people pulled the same thing. Kanyes people went so far as to attempt to disallow people with Infiniti credentials to have freedom of movement around the artist compound....these people needed to work. Infiniti is as high as they go. At some point on Saturday afternoon, Production Road (Section between South First and KOA/admin area was closed for a time because Kanyes trucks (Ive heard 9-12) were clogging up the road. They weren't able to unload. Nobody could go through. Production Road is a vital artery.
The part about the stage is true because I was told by some Crew One guys (complaining) about having to add 16 more feet of stage for kanye show at the last minute.
I am not defending Kanye but I know that most people only know part of the story.
I suppose most of the trouble could have been avoided if he had played his original timeslot.
So many people act so angry over this. Does kanye or AC/Superfly really owe everyone a personal apology. Think about what a huge undertaking all of this is. Something is bound to go wrong sometime. Maybe Led Zeppelin should apologize for not living up to our wishes and rumors. Maybe R.E.M, should apologize to me because I didn't like their last album that much. Maybe AC/Superfly should apologize to the fans for the hot weather and sun. This gives me an idea for a new thread.
This whole thing is getting really played out. It's over. I just can't wait till next year. I had so much fun this year and Kanye wasn't even a blip on my radar. As a matter of fact, I think I was in bed by the time he came on, resting up for Sunday.
I think you have a whole lot of dicks involved in this story and not a whole lot of honesty. I think the crowd story will last the longest though which isn't necessarily fair, but such is the nature of the internet. The first story usually wins, and the first story was Kanye didn't show up for 2 hours and didn't apologize to the crowd.
(Of course, let's not forget the crowd was chanting that he sucks and throwing shit at his stage set up.)
I can confirm that the dressing rooms were taken over by the headliners, and that barely anyone could go back into that area... Not even with an escort.

Either way, Kayne could have said something to the crowd before everyone starting throwing shit and chanting that he sux. When they knew, and i would have to believe that they knew it was going to be a while come 2:45. Had he, or really any of his crew came out and said hey, it's going to be a while, come back around 4 or something to that effect i think things would have went better. That's just my $0.02

This.
The spirit of Bonnaroo is not to hold a grudge about things that are out of our control. It's to let bygones be bygones and move on. Kanye did apologize to everyone in that lengthy diatribe he posted. In spite of being one of the imminent poo-stirrers in this whole thing, I have to forgive him because I know what happens when egos (not just his either) and load-in and technical issues collide at a big festival.
Do the people here actually think that any performer would want to come to Bonnaroo and purposefully shit all over the fans? I can't believe that anyone here even thinks this. You are all such beautiful and wonderful people, at least the ones whom I've met in my Bonnaroo experience.
A number of the complaints I've heard were from people who worked to get themselves "in the right frame of mind" for the show and whose "framework" faded before the show started. They feel permanently damaged in some way because of this experience. For everyone to whom this applies that is accusing Kanye of being selfish or egotistical, can you see how this thinking might be a little bit selfish or egotistical yourselves? Do you honestly think that any performer purposefully intends for you to pay to see them in order to have a bad experience?
Everyone is so focused on Kanye's explanation of what happened that led to the delays that people seem to have missed the important element: his apology. He did apologize to everyone, and I think we're being the opposite of everything Bonnaroo stands for if we ignore his apology and focus solely on his explanation. Aren't we supposed to be the bigger people here? Is it really necessary to be this angry over four hours of what was, otherwise, a completely enjoyable festival for everyone?
It doesn't matter what happened or why. That night, people were rowdy, angry, tired, frustrated, screaming, booing, throwing things, and clearly not in the right frame of mind. If someone came out and told us the details of what happened and why on the night that it happened, I can only imagine what the reaction would have been. Listen to how everyone is reacting now -- two weeks after the fact!
This entire journey is a learning experience every time someone takes that stage. This proves it. Nobody is perfect and nothing is an exact science. Nobody's stage show, big or small, is a microwaveable meal that you throw in and *poof* a magic show comes popping out hot 'n fresh for us in minutes. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, passion, and devotion by everyone -- the festival, the stage hands, the runners, and even the artists themselves.
We can't let this incident tear apart the community of Bonnaroo and we can't just throw Kanye under the bus for telling us what we might not want to hear.
You can all do whatever you think is right. If forgiveness is in your heart, just forgive and move on. If it's not, I would ask that you really consider whether or not holding a grudge is going to do anything except drive a wedge between us. I hope you will realize that forgiveness is the only measure that makes the meaning of Bonnaroo shine through.
well i didnt read this thread... just too long.. i just wanted to stop in and say

What? This incident is a joke. And, at best, a reminder to book real talent. "Tear apart the Bonnaroo community..." Are you kidding me?

Kanye Who?
"Tear the Bonnaroo community apart" = people who aren't walking around holding a grudge vs. people who insist on staying bent out of shape about it.
What's with the need to crap on me for asking people to move forward?

how is kanye's blog affecting bonnaroo itself? and i couldn't have told you where the garnier fructis thing was. i never noticed any kind of a corporate presence while i was there. and 300 dollar tickets? pretty sure mine was 240, and that was the highest price level. but go ahead and join your hippie elite and make bonnaroo the festie laughing stock if it makes you feel better. the rest of us in this country will continue to laugh at your ilk anyway just as we always have.
