I was camping in the guest area, just outside the Which stage. Anyway, to start, I didn't have any problems with searches entering Centeroo, either from the guest area or the general camping area. I had a bag with a camelbak in it, so I could carry more stuff than simply in the camelbak. Everyday, I simply opened up the main bag, and not the zippers on the camelbak and never had any problems. Saturday during the day, as I was walking in from our guest area, the guy told us, "You know we changed out policy on open containers.....You can now bring them in..." Sure enough, everytime after that I was able to walk in with a can of beer, and another in my bag. Come Sunday, I go in and the same guy tells me, "Yea they changed the policy back on us. I'll let you in with that one, but no more" Consistency is certainly not there, but I still had no problems coming in the general entrances either, but then I found out that the guests could enter in through the exits, something I never knew......Learn something new everyday

i dont know what you guys were trying to sneak in but they confiscated my beef jerky and took my bag o corn out of my pocket but stuck it right back in there.
i loved it when they just let scores of people in without even checking us. this happened to me at least once a day. its relatively easy to sneak anything you want in. i usually just stuck it in my bra and slid by. the only time they took something was when i had a glowstick necklace. they made me throw it out. pretty stupid seeing as i had about 8 on each arm as well and they didn't say anything about those...
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
Has anyone else had their campsite searched, or is it just my friends and I who got screwed over?
never heard of that before...we had no problems openly doing whatever we wanted
Me too. Been the last 3 years and never had a problem anywhere near that.
This year, however, stuff was crazy on Sunday, and the police had the space to efficiently search the camp grounds with so many people already gone. First (and hopefully last) case of that I've heard or been in.

I thought the security was way out of check. they were going through camps busting people dealing corn cookies and corn of the like. Way out of line, imho. The people checking the lines were often way out of the line, saying i couldnt bring in snacks, so i just started hiding my shit better. Surfice to say, Feck you security, i snuck beer, liqour, and glass in every day. And in the way in, they comepltetly tore every car infront of us apart, all on a hunch, and even carded everyone in the cars. fecking riduclous guys, we're all here to have a good time.

Did anybody notice the new "Ben & Jerry's Security Tower" near the ferris wheel? Who ever is in the top of that thing can see most of the camping areas.
Has anyone else had their campsite searched, or is it just my friends and I who got screwed over?
My neighbors got their stuff taken away, but no ticket. I heard the same cop searched a few other people in the same camp. Were you in Moneypenny (or the one next to it)? We were at the far end of the camp, right up next to the corn field and gate to the people selling showers and ice right outside the property.

true, but on the other hand, when you buy the ticket you're in theory agreeing to play by the rules they write up, the not allowed list, etc... people get by despite those, but i don't think you can find fault with them for the few times they fully live up to the rules. and they own the land and run the show, so it seems reasonable that they'd make and enforce (or not enforce) whatever rules they saw fit...

I think the biggest problem with the security/staff etc is the lack of communication and consistency. As a volunteer, I can tell you that things were VERY unorganized and we were not given very much information. We basically just showed up and tried to do the best we could. I couldn't complain, because I got a free ticket and it was a pretty good experience. But I do know that the security people were all out of touch and basically had no idea what was going on.
We got turned around 3 times trying to get parked in staff camping -- 'Sorry, turn around, it's backed up', even though we had ridden the shuttle and knew it wasn't backed up. Finally, my boyfriend told them we already had a site and when we went in, the guy parking people waved us on through to camp.
I also know (from my b/f's fraternity brothers who worked security, they were blue shirts who worked the entrance to the What stage by VIP) that security had very little idea of the policies, and there were like 4 or 5 different companies that had different standards there. So that of course leads to little communication and a lot of problems. For example, they weren't taking glowsticks, snacks, or closed containers, whereas I had my closed container taken by a yellow shirt on my way into Centeroo the 2nd day.
I got waved on through to the tune of, "Nothing but water!" twice. The other times I was not searched thoroughly at all. I think girls have it pretty easy though, because the places you would hide anything don't get patted down.

I went through security 3 times. 2 times was when they opened the gates and did 0 searches. The 3rd time some dickhead took all my glowsticks before Pearl Jam.

Security was pretty good. You had to pick the right one to get in to centeroo tho. Some would pat you down hard, others wouldnt search you hardly at all. tanks were everywhere, but the glass selection was down from past. I didnt see really ne glass that really impressed me but there was glass still. The vibe was still chill besides there was more younger and fratty preepy people.

on top of my stash being put back into my pocket for me, my car was never searched on the way in. the guy went to the two cars in front of me, them moved onto the car to my left and i went through with out so much as being asked if we had any glass in the car.
also, they took my glowsticks. but people had those and bracelets everywhere, so i dont know what the hell. i think next year ill have someone throw them over the wall.
I was waiting on someone to get through security one day when I saw an old hippie step up, and when the guy pulled up his shirt and found his little baggy hanging out of his pant loop, the guy hurriedly said "that's not mine. I don't who put it there." I literally fell over laughing. The security guy did too and went ahead and let him in.
the search on the way in was lax (except they took our 10 dollar barbie balloon...did anyone else have this happen to them?? i always thought balloons were allowed!). BUT we did have one problem with a guy on the way into centeroo. my friend had hid our corn etc very well in her backpack and this guy TORE IT APART. he found the corn and he was like, you have to take this back to your camp.
so basically we just went out and i used the tried and tested method stated above:undies !
Had no problems with either seciurity or the "vibe".... Getting into Centeroo was no problem for us at the ferris wheel entrance and we had great neighbors at the campsite. I will agree that security seemed a bit more lax than last year.
