I saw Trevor Dunn's Endangered Blood saturday night. Awesome show. cover was only $5 They are playing tonight in ATL if anyone is interested www.trevordunn.net/performance.html
Anthony Jeselnik was hilarious at Zanies Friday night.
A girl booked TWO VIP TABLES for her birthday then was so offended like ten minutes in she yelled at Jeselnik that he was tacky and that she had paid money to come out that night. Then she and the entire party save one guy left (well, I think they asked her to). Y'know, Delta Spirit was at Mercy that night if she wasn't into comedy. I realise Jeselnik isn't for everyone, but to book two tables for your birthday.. I would go to a show I knew I would enjoy for my birthday, not bother booking two tables for a random comic. We really enjoyed the show and spoke with him after. He was super nice and took a photo with us. Said he would do Bonnaroo anytime they invite him, but that they haven't.

Bassnectar last night in Chicago was AMAZING. His stage set up was great and the set he played was fantastically put together. This was definitely the best show I've seen in 2012 so far.
This past Tuesday I saw the Mickey Hart Band in Louisville and it was a fantastic show with plenty of jamming and electronic elements. His new album is really interesting (using soundwaves from the big bang) and they added in a few Dead songs and Papa Was a Rolling Stone to the set of original tunes that really got the crowd going. Definitely recommend going to his show.

Saw Mastodon/Opeth/Ghost in Knoxville last night. Aside from the general wierdness of seeing this at the Tennessee Theatre, it was a great show.
Ghost has a lot of that great older metal style with the theatricality of their stage show. I was really surprised at the amount of people who had on their shirts or were singing along when they played. I see bigger things from them soon.
Mastodon was excellent as always. Them and Dillinger Escape Plan are my two favorite metal bands that are active right now. They played more off of The Hunter but threw in older songs as well throughout the night.
Opeth was better than expected. I am not the biggest fan, but I can't argue that they know how to play. They started with their melodic stuff and gradually moved over to their heavy stuff by the end of the set.

He's going to be here next week, I think this might be a must see for me.

Just gonna follow up a little on what you said. It was an amazing show last night. Opeth and Mastodon are my two favorite modern bands and seeing them together was incredible.
I was little late leaving work and walked in for the last Ghost song. I wish I had gotten to see the whole set. Their setup and costumes looked awesome. However, I have trouble taking them seriously, their lyrics remind me of the South Park episode where Cartman started Faith + 1, just insert Satan, rather than Jesus.
Mastodon - This was my 5th time seeing them, but first since 08 Bonnaroo. Last night was by far the best I have ever seen them play. Their vocals are so much more improved and the sound in the theatre was great. Highlights for me were Crack the Skye, Blood and Thunder, Dry Bone Valley, Stargasm, Blasteroid, Hand of Stone and Aqua Dementia. Very small complaint/Criticism is I would like them to play 2 or 3 less Hunter songs and add a few more from Leviathan, Blood Mountain and Crack the Skye. However, they packed in I think 17 songs into an hour and 15 minute set.
Opeth - Like always they were amazing. Great light show. Great between song banter from Mikael Akerfeldt. The whole show was nothing but highlights and the songs from Heritage really come to life live, but Windowpane and Folklore > Demon of the Fall > The Grand Conjuration were the highlights of the night. One hour and 10 minute set with 9 songs.
Amazing show overall, just wish I had gotten there in time to see Ghost. Also, the first time seeing a show at the Tennesee Theater, and I can't say enough positive things about the place. Cool building great sound and lighting, and comfortable. It is weird watching metal shows in theaters and my 18 year self would biznatch about it, 29 year old me likes it.
Just had to get on real quick and geek out with you guys! Heartless b astards are about to play in a tiny club here in SA and I just bought Erika a drink!! Hahahah so awesome.
Caught Chairlift at The Earl in East Atlanta last night.
All I can say is that crazy, skinny lunatic has fabulous pipes. She is insanely talented. Seeing them for $12 along with a fun opener, Nite Jewel, is nothing to complain about. (I think there was another band before Nite Jewel, but I didn't get there until about 10:00)
I got kind of annoyed because they took FOREVER to come out and I was worried about having to wake up for work this morning. Once they FINALLY came out, they put on an incredible show and I forgot all about it and happily nursed my Yuenling Light.

Nomen Novum opened, he's worth checking out sometime.
Melvins next week, which will be my first time seeing them. I've always had horrible timing when it comes to Melvins shows. Can't fucking wait.

They were very good. They had some home cooking so they were ready to play. I'm pretty sure i picked you out of the crowd last night but i wasn't sure so i didn't want to look nuts saying are you katy?

I don't have a clue what you look like either i was just guessing from your caricature. I was in the front left to wearing a pittsburgh pirates hat and a red flannel.
I more meant that just to say that's why I didn't say hi either. I was only upfront for Titus, and I was toward the back left for Deer Tick. I'm usually oblivious to everyone around me, which doesn't help, heh. Adding to that sentiment, I'm not sure If I saw you or not, but it WAS an awesome show.
Melvins show in nola last night was incredible. It sold out and several of my friends in nola blew it by thinking they could just pay at the door. Unsane were badass. Coady played drums for them the first half of their set and Dale played with them the second. The last couple of songs both of them played and that shit was intense. The Melvins played 9 songs that I've never seen them do live before (6 of which were new songs).
set list (ones marked are the ones I've never seen them play live) Dog Island ^Hung Bunny ^Roman Dog Bird The Water Glass Evil New War God >Manky History of Bad Men +Youth of America ~A Growing Disgust *War on Wisdom *We are Doomed *Friends Before Larry *A Really Long Wait *National Hamster The Bit
^from Lysol >from The Maggot +cover of (The Wipers' Youth of America') ~from Freak Puke (The Melvins 9th studio album coming out in June 2012) *from The Bulls & The Bees (new EP played in track list order)
I enjoyed their set from last years tour better, but overall this was a better show...mostly due to Unsane being with them. What was really weird was the amount of ladies at the show. Most of the melvins shows that I have been to have been sausage fests with like maybe 5% womerns. I'd say it was about 25% womern at this show. A bunch of which were in the pit too getting rowdy.
Holy shit Rammstein just rocked my face off! And gettin' to hear one of my favorite tunes by them tonight was the sugar-free icin' on top of my sugar-free cake! Havin' one of my BFFs along was great too.
Damn I wish I was rich so I could follow their whole tour.
Butch Walker killed it at 12th and Porter last night!! I was able to be a good QSAROO rep and gave a friend of Phi's a ticket. The show sold out in a day and she had been looking for one. WOO HOO.

I wanted to go so bad but couldnt justify their ticket prices $100 for floor? wtf
Just got home from The Weeknd at the 9:30 Club in DC. All in all a great show. I had a bit of the problems with the sound levels. Felt like they were set for Coachella when they were playing a 1,200 capacity club. The vocals were mixed low as well.
Other than that, it was awesome. The people watching was an A+ as well.
