Some of my friends weren't overly excited about the lineup and asked me what I thought was so great about it. My response was something to the effect of "The Roots AND Black Star.." if that doesn't excite you, there is no hope for your soul.

Last time i saw the roots they opened with immigrant song. I hope they get a late night set so they can play longer. I don't know who is playing bass for them now that owen left. Hopefully he is healthy.
Call me a weirdo but I watch every single episode of Fallon (not live, on hulu.com). I can't say I know all of their original material, but The Roots captivate me and seem to be an incredible live band. I don't even follow much of hip hop in general but the Roots are one of m top 2 or 3 acts for this year. I can't wait! I'm also hoping Quest pops up elsewhere during the weekend but he seems like an extremely busy guy.

the first text i sent out to my usual bonnaroo crew post lineup drop was "The Roots and Black Star!!!"

I DVR most episodes of Fallon and a lot of times I'll just fast forward through to see what intro song The Roots play for each guest. Lying Ass Bitch for Michelle Bachman was good.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
I don't know... that's a painful but easy choice for me. I really wanna see SBTRKT, but Flying Lotus is one of my biggest inspirations as a musician. The Roots are a different story, as they are one of the best live acts I've ever seen, so Roots Vs. FlyLo would be really rough for me.
Bonnaroo really brought it this year as far as hip hop goes. I've seen the Roots once before and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I REALLY hope they get a late night slot so that they can play Undun in full (since it's a concept album) and then do a good jam session with guests and classics from past albums. Going to bonnaroo is a no brainer for me every year, but I've never been more excited than I am for this year's lineup.
If there are any scheduling conflicts, I would highly suggest to anyone to choose the roots over whomever else. You will not be disappointed!! This is the show I'm dying to see at the farm!
