Agree with everyone.. The Seed 2.0 and Dear God 2.0 are great. Especially the version with Yim Yames. "Make My" off of Undun has been making its way into my most played list as well. Love that song.
They dont need help singing The Seed 2.0. Captain Kirk and Black Thought can do it perfectly.
Didn't say they did, it's just cool to have the guy that played on the studio track there for the live performance. It can only add to the awesome, was my point.

With the Roots having built their song "How I Got Over" off of the Darondo song of the same title, I wonder if there's going to be any sort of collaboration?

Alright so I've decided I'm finally going to start listening to the Roots after hearing so many good things about them from a lot of people. Where do you guys recommend I start?

You really can't go wrong anywhere. There are certain albums which I guess I would say are high points, but there aren't really any low points. "Illadelph Halflife" and "Things Fall Apart" are good starting points, the newest, "Undun," is great. Also, any quality live recordings you can find will win you over immediately.

Phrenology was what put them on the map...for me anyway. But I think How I Got Over is my all-time favorite.
I'm more excited about seeing them after seeing them jam with Springsteen this week on Fallon. They are so musically diverse; and I'm hoping we get some cool and unexpected sit ins.

anyone have a sense of what they'll play live? I've always liked the Roots but never dug into their albums. There's a good chance I'll be at their whole set and I want to be prepared. If I spend a lot of time with their early stuff will I still hear it live?
seen the roots 6 times. so stoked to see them at roo again. one of the best live shows ever. if i had to put money on 1 song they will play its 'step into the realm' but they usually mix it up pretty good with the set.

In the two times I've seen them they have played a pretty good variety of stuff. They are great because they do a lot of improvised jams in the middle of songs. My brother saw them recently when they were promoting their new album Undun. He said that they played the album in full (it's a concept album) and then played songs from other albums after. I've never heard anyone say that they saw an "alright" Roots performance; it's ALWAYS incredible! If you want to try and get prepared I'd get the new album, Phrenology and Illadelph Halflife. I also love Organix and Do You Want More? but as someone else said, there's really no bad place to start.

Sounds great. I'm a real big fan of The Tipping Point, Phrenology (Seed 2.0 is classic), and Game Theory.

Everything they put out is gold! I can't wait to see what they do on the farm. A perfect way to get your Roots cherry popped!
