Also since this is a two day thing. I'm looking at ticket master and it is saying 63 dollars but for one day. Does that mean i'll have to buy two tickets at 63 dollars each for both days or does anyone know if they are selling two day passes. That would be grand!

They're selling two day passes as well, I just bought mine actually. The presale price is $80, and it comes to about $96 after service fees.

Alright guys, looking at the schedule I'll be seeing The Roots. However, there is a problem. The only material I've heard from them is their latest album. Since I'll have limited time between now and 'roo to listen to albums I would really apprentice some song suggestions. Songs that you think are most likely to be played at 'roo. Thanks!
Phrenology. Listen to it immediately. Stop reading this. Seriously, do not continue reading this text, purchase that album, and listen to it non-stop. Why are you still here? GO! NOW!

Last setlist I could find... from Dec 29th Looks good to me. Would add "Don't Say Nuthin'"
Dun Sleep (with Bilal) Make My (with Bilal) Walk Alone (with Dice Raw, Truck North & Porn) Dear God 2.0 (with Bilal) Lighthouse (with Dice Raw) Quills Step Into the Realm Proceed Swept Away (with Ray Angry solo) In the Music (with Porn) Stomp (with Porn) Mellow My Man / Jusufckwithis Break You Off (with Tuba Gooding, Jr. solo) The OtherSide (with Bilal & Porn) Questlove solo Get Busy (with Dice Raw) Jungle Boogie (Kool & The Gang cover) (with Aaron & Mark solos) The Next Movement You Got Me (with Kirk solo) Encore: Thought at Work How I Got Over Here I Come The Seed (2.0) The Bottle (Gil Scott-Heron cover) (with Kamal solo) Move On Up (Curtis Mayfield cover) Men at Work (Kool G Rap & DJ Polo cover)
I would love to hear some illadelph halflife, which I know is wishful thinking especially since malik b for one isnt there. I think undun is a pretty sick album. Phrenology wasnt my favorite but of course they will play Seed 2.0

Listen to Undun from start to finish is a story of sorts and it can only be truly appreciated if you listen to the whole album. Kind of like biggies ready to die. In a nutshell they talk about a fictinial character redford a lifelong gangstar who commits suicide and the album is a reflection. Personally as a lifelong roots fan I dont consider Phrenology their best work especially following things fall apart. Seed 2.0 was the best hit on phrenology so listen to that cause it will get played. I am assuming that and songs from undun and things fall apart will also be played So if you want a crash course in Roots take lessons from those 3 albums. If you want to listen to some good roots albums also give a listen to illadelph halflife and the tipping point. Hope that helps
Is there anyone who is planning on staying at the What stage a majority of Saturday? Like 6PM on til after RHCP? I did this last year for Wiz/Black Keys/Eminem, and had a great spot, and wanted to do this again, but my group wants to go see Childish Gambino, given that I'm seeing him in August, I'm happy to skip it. So if there are any cool people who might want to do that, it'd be cool if I could join

Yeah...don't do that. Illadelph is a good album but its in no way representative of what they sound like now; hell, they don't play more than a couple songs from that era. And The Tipping Point? Really? That's probably their weakest "modern" album. They've got a deep catalog, but if you want a sense of what they're like now, start with the most recent albums and work backwards. Start with Undun, check out How I Got Over, Rising Down, and Game Theory. If you dip into the classics too early, you might be let down when you find out that they don't play some of those sick cuts anymore (the fact that they don't play 100% Dundee, Dynamite, Adrenaline, etc. kills me).
On another note, best Roots albums, in order: - Things Fall Apart - Phrenology - Undun - Rising Down - Illadelph Halflife - How I Got Over - Game Theory - Do You Want More??? - The Tipping Point - Organix
Yr. welcome.
What can I say I am an old school girl. To each their own
I'm pumped to see The Roots again, but 90 minutes seems to handcuff them. I've seen them play for three hours or so at 10 dollar shows in NYC over the past few years; not having them late night on Which seems like a missed opportunity.

It also burns me that they have some pretty bad conflicts. granted I am going to see the roots in entirety but I am a little pissed I will miss pretty much all of mogwai and some of dispatch and childish gambino
i just saw the roots for the first on saturday at the great googa mooga, and all i have to say is that they KILLED it. the highlights of the performance were a cover of guns n roses - sweet child of mine, by far the most epic cover ever! i could have died right then and there being perfectly content. some random break dancer came on stage and did a few moves. but then near the end a few little kids (family members of the band) came on stage and were dancing / breakdancing, it was the cutest thing ever! at first i thought to myself it is ok for me to miss the roots in favor of childish gambino and mogwai as i was already going to see them. but now that i actually seen em i am genuinely upset about the scheduling conflict
P.S. after "Sweet Child o Mine" they went straight into "Bad to the Bone" which was pretty damn fantastic. the entire show was just so amazing but these were the highlights of it imho.

OK so this was the one set of the weekend that really blew me away. I mean I knew it was going to be good but I didnt know it was going to be THAT good. Next best show of the weekend to Radiohead and arguably the best hip-hop show I've ever seen despite not having the theatrics that Jay-Z or Watch the Throne had. Also Kirk Douglas stole the f**king show. I knew Black Thought would be on point and that ?uestlove is a pimp for I had no idea Captain Kirk was like Jimi Hendrix-lite on guitar. That dude blew me away
Roots def killed it!!I am happy to see people as happy as I was about it. My boyfriend wasn't really a fan and after he certainly was very excited to learn more about them. I am from Philly and a long time Roots fan so I went in expecting something from the setlist. They didn't do anything I expected and I loved it. Thank you Roots for making my bonnaroo awesome.
Easily one of the best sets of the weekend!!! They played a great set, totally rocked out and you could tell they were having a blast. Kirk definitely killed it. I'm crazy obsessed so I was freaking out and screaming with excitement the whooole time. My excitement defnitely rubbed off on the people around me.
