Just realized there was no thread for Pretty Lights and decided to get the ball rolling. This is something you're gonna want to check out - trust me, it'll be one of the late night highlights. Last year was my first Bonnaroo so I didn't see them in '09, but I did see their 2 night stand in Chicago for New Years 2011 and I'll be seeing them again in Grand Rapids in April.
Pretty Lights isn't your cliche electronic act. Don't miss him at Bonnaroo.

he was awesome at roo in 09. saw him in miami later that year and he was... ok. I absolutely love filling up the skies disk 2. One of my all time favorite electronic music albums. I'll definitely check him out barring any impossible conflicts. Also considering seeing him in miami this thur, but its $40.. pretty steep for an electronic music show....

Pretty Lights is an over-hyped act but i dig him regardless. Ill try to see his set but its not a priority because ive seen them before and they will be at Camp Bisco as well (not to mention every other festival in the country)

They were amazing at Snowball earlier this month! Played some new songs, which were a lot like some of the older material, and naturally closed out with All of the lights remix.
Defiantly looking forward to seeing him in June. I'm also going to one of his shows this Saturday but this will be the first time I've seen him. Hopefully this will be a good preview of his roo act.
After he got announced for Bisco, I'm really hoping he conflicts with someone I really want to see at roo so I can not feel as bad about missing an act I want to see. Plus I think the much talked about "Girl Talk Factor" of all the other shows being half as crowded when he is playing will apply to Pretty Lights too, and that will be nice.

You think so? I figured it would just be the "girl talk factor". But i guess he has been gaining a lot of steam. I hope he's not too crowded, although my girlfriend always finds a way to sneak through any crowd.

I have probably cursed you and your girlfriend at many a roo show if that is the case. I try to be understanding of people acting annoyingly at concerts because people get excited and I've probably been annoying to a few around me at shows before, but my one pet peeve is when I'm camping out for a good spot at a show and then some random chick just shoves right past me because omg she jus luvz LED's Sound System but cant be bothered with this whole "waiting around for the band to play" bullshit
sorry, /rant (not really aimed at you and your girl, just a LOT of new fest goers in general, and these jerks are especially present at electronic sets at festivals)
In response to your first part, though, I do think he'll be very crowded. He gets a lot of GT comparisons for using a lot of samples and such, and has certainly been blowing up since he was last at Roo.

Pretty Lights is gonna be on fire. His set in 09 pulled me away from Public Enemy, from the phat beats coming from his stage. It was that or Flavor Flav plugging his new reality show. This is gonna be my 9th roo and only MSTRKRFT was a better electronic show than him. Of course i was feeling "excellent" at the MSTKRFT show. Either way camp magic will be there reppin o-town as always this year!

Coco for your rant! I CAN NOT stand that either man...if you want a good spot you should have gotten there earlier and waited for it, don't push and squeze your way to the front making everyone else who actually paid their dues to get a spot uncomfortable/distracted.

It's especially frustrating when they push in front of you and then realize that there is just nowhere else to go with a solid wall of people in front of them, so then they just stand there awkwardly squeezed in in front of you and make you unable to dance or really even move.

That's definitely the worst when there's not enough room to dance. At that point, most of the time I'll just decide f*ck it and move back to get my groove on. But, then the lead singer will go out into the crowd and touch everyone/drip sweat on people and I quickly regret the earlier decision haha.

I saw Pretty Lights when they came to Omaha back in November, and all i can say is WOW! It was my first electronic show and i was not disappointed at all it blew my mind. I'm going to K.C. April 23rd to see them as well and I cant wait to see them at 'roo. Party favors or not you will not be disappointed if you check out Pretty Lights at 'roo 2011.

I love starting to dance more than necessary when a train of bitches are about to try to push past you. I think it's the best tactic to prevent spot-ruining.
the little taste I got of Pretty Lights LN 09 has had me waiting/wanting for more. I hope his set will not conflict with another LN I want to see this year, he doesn't seem to make it into my neck of the woods at all

I've seen Pretty Lights quite a few times and its always amazing. The last time i saw them was in november in Boston at house of blues. Me and my girls ended up on his tour bus outside the venue which was awesome and gross since there were a bunch of underage girls trying to hook up with him. but i get it. hes suppppperrrr tall. and we partied until the venue shut off the power on the bus.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
