Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
LOL at the new thread title. I don't think the headliners for either festival are that great. Radiohead is good: +1 Lolla. Don't care about NIN: +0 Lolla. I would've loved to have seen RATM back when I was 16 and really into them, but that was almost ten years ago. I'll give them a +0.5 for trying.
I don't care about Pearl Jam, Metallica, or Jack Johnson so this years Roo headliners I'll say are weaker than Lolla's, but I've never really been about the headliners anyway. For me a festival needs solid acts, top to bottom, and I think that's where Bonnaroo really seals the deal every year. Plus, it's on a huge farm with camping as apposed to being in the city, which appeals to me.
But everyone likes different things so debating about which lineup is better, while a fun way to pass the time, is gonna piss some people off if they take this stuff too seriously. To each his own. Like what you like. Have fun.

If you go just for the headliners you are missing all of the fun. I probably wont see any headliner at this years Bonnaroo because Id rather spend all of my time and energy on other bands I wouldnt normally get to see.
give me a break...NIN and their industrial-dance-goth BS or whatever you call it!
When Rage was at their peak in the mid-90's they opened up for U2. Not exactly headliner material if you ask me.
What is it with people who think just because a band hasnt performed a show in years or they get reunited they are all of a sudden a incredible headliner. Like My Bloody Valentine was supposed to be this incredible headliner for Coachella. WTF?
Just took a look at the line up... uh... reminds me why Lolla's line up over all always suffers... too much trendy, new indie stuff.... may be good for some, but it's beyond overkill for me, at this point. Essentially : Bonnaroo's lineup > Lolla's lineup, but, once again, that's just me, folks.

Uhhhh... I've seen two Rage shows since they got back together. The smallest crowd was 50,000. I'd say they're headlining material.

yeah, to say RATM isn't a GREAT headliner is ridiculous, IMO. especially considering you can still listen to their stuff from the 90's and its still relevant today. kinda scary, actually.
Its a small joke, who cares? its not like they are deleting posts or anything. I really dont want to happen here what happened on the tribe boards
What happened on the tribe boards, just outta curiosity?
I think the change in title was pretty funny, myself ;D
In short basically people did not like the langerado show, older fans thought it was a cookie cutter show with no emotion and they basically don't like the new direction of the band. so they wrote very long and thought out negative reviews of the show. the admins (Phipps the keyboardist and one other guy) started changing and deleting peoples posts. people didnt take to kindly to this so someone started posting sbds of the show all over the board. It then got shut down and we were all homeless for a while, and now its back but divorced from and no longer run by the band.

That's kinda lame that they were deleting negative reviews of their shows...I know it was run by them, but still.
By the way, if anyone's doubting the recent performance skills of Rage, doubt no more. They were INCREDIBLE at Vegoose. However, I had one BIG beef with their set. They only played about an hour and twenty minutes of their headlining slot. There were a LOT of people pissed about that.
Besides that, they were spot on, and the energy was unreal.

Damn, that sucks. I really don't see that happening here... I think the mods have too much of a sense of humor to take anything seriously like that. I think the problem with that is the message board was run by the band. If superfly or associates were running this board, I probably would not be a member
And why's so many peeps got beef with their Rado show... That shiz kicked azz! It's not their fault that there was lightning all around and rain falling all over murph and the electronic equipment. Yeah, I would've loved them to play til the sunrise too... but I honestly think that they had full intentions to do so. They even started their set off immediately by saying "We're really glad to bring in Saturday morning with you guys!"
But yeah... none of this has anything to do with Lolla kindly whoopin Roo's arse with the lineup, so I'll stop now
I think people were more pissed about the set list than the how it sounded and the fact that they dont really jam anymore or have much of a spiritual vibe about them anymore. people say that all the new songs are shitty attempts at glitch hop and that they are leaving all their old fans behind.

^^ahh I see. Well I've only been a fan since Roo 07, so that makes sense why I don't pick up on any heavy changes like that. As long as I get to hear some Rabble and Lo Swaga I am a happy festie attendee

Sound tribe is just getting bigger and bigger.
Thats all there is to it, the "older" fans just dont like it. the new songs are still sick, murph and hunter are still murph...and hunter (not taking anything away from the other band members, at all).
This is what happens when a band starts to make it bigs. ;D I have only been down with them for about a year now. and they are an absolute favorite of mine. From what I understand STS9 "retires" songs for a few years and slowly bring them back. Like a lot of Jam bands ie. Grateful Dead, DMB, and Phish.
I also have friends that have seen 35-40 STS9 shows, and they said Langerado was just basically the more well known songs and that they lacked in the light show department.
But i thought the spiral light things were pretty sweet myself
After considering the lay out of the festival and now given the rest of the lineup, I'll probably skip it.
Unless my pockets are just overflowing with cash by then, I'm sticking to Roo this year and just hitting up maybe some smaller fest and a bunch of individual concerts.
well, a decent amount of people dont like umph especially people who are primarily into electronica. and double headliners kinda sucks, shortens the set of both bands and if STS9 is your fav band do you really want some band you dont enjoy taking up time that could of been STS9 playing.
