i think we have all been waiting to see tom waits grace us with his presence at the farm. this could definitely be a possibility, however, i'm skeptical seeing as how the lineup is getting a little too full to add big names like tom.
You know I saw him on his last tour in Louisville, KY, I was so excited and felt it might truly be a once in a life time chance to see a long time favorite of mine.
I was also excited to see other Tom Waits fans.. like.. I don't think I have ever seen one in person before that. It was a very fun show but kind of a strange vibe, everyone stood and gave a standing ovation between each song then sat down in their seats while he talked or played.. then standing ovation.. I don't think I have ever seen a crowd so into a show and not dancing.. wasn't sure how to feel about it.
I don't think he would do bonnaroo.. But if he comes anywhere near us again I am going!

That's what I was thinking....I'm not getting my hopes up...when I see his name on the lineup then I'll get all crazy with glee......that is a good find though, that would be neat if they could all get together at a fest

anybody wanna copy & paste what the article says? p4k doesn't work on my computer...
either way, i will drive any distance to the nearest show because i HAVE to see him. he's #1 on my list of artists i need to see before i die, and has been for a while. Radiohead and Bob Dylan both used to be in that spot... but i have now fulfilled both of those

I am SO EXCITED for this tour and will try to hit as many stops as I can. I've never seen him live before, and I don't want to miss out again. I'd love to see him at Bonnaroo of course, but doubt it will happen. A late-night tent set though could be the greatest thing ever.
Tom Waits Planning Summer Tour OMG! That's that weird guy ScarJo covered!

Septuplets, full solar eclipses, and Tom Waits tours: some things just don't come around too often. Lucky for us, 2008 is shaping up to be a favorable year, once which will see the elusive Mr. Waits grace stages across the U.S. and Europe.
According to report in "webpaper" The Washington Independent and confirmed by Waits' camp, the gravel-voiced one is in the process of putting together summer tours of the aforementioned locales. No dates just yet, but to be on the safe side, you probably want to start lining up outside your local ticket vendor now.
Waits last toured in August 2006, and people enjoyed it very much.
And hey, that Scarlett Johansson album! Word is it's better than you think. Stream: Tom Waits with the Kronos Quartet: Diamond in Your Mind [from the Healing the Divide compilation]
Breaking News...About Tom Waits By Suemedha Sood 03/04/2008 10:18AM
Usually I limit my blogging to environment-related topics, but this was just too good to be true (though I assure you, it is). Tom Waits’ publicist verified last night that Waits is in fact going on tour this summer. It will be a U.S. and European tour, with no dates determined as of yet. This is a rare event for the legendary American musician whose last (very short) tour was in 2006.
I saw that awhile go. My assumption would be Coachella because I cant remember if that it for sure happened or not but didn't she back The Jesus and Mary Chain there ( or was it just the tour) .. I would love to see her at Roo though.

He said in his opinion.....that means to him....meaning seeing Tom Waits would be just as big as seeing Zep...to him.......and I agree with him, seeing Waits would be just as big to me as seeing Zepplin

I'm kinda the same way, just different levels........I listen to Tom Waits all the time, I love Tom Waits....and would do just about anything to see him.......and with Led Zepplin it would be a huge f-in deal if they played and I would have to see them.....but I would enjoy Tom Waits more
if your opinion is "i like him more", then say that. but putting something forward that can be proven through data (how "big" an act is) and then calling it an opinion doesn't mean i can't offer evidence to the contrary.
thanks for translating my native language for me there purple. when he said "in my opinion" i had no idea that meant "in HIS opinion". i was simply stating that i disagreed with his opinion on empirical grounds, which is a completely legitimate basis for disagreement.
whatever this is totally not worth it, but i meant what i said and i stand by it, thank you very much.

there's really no need for the 'tude man. no one is trying to argue numbers. this is all about music and what we individually love. no one was trying to ruffle any feathers.

penguins, I've noticed that you have had that Waits avatar for a while now, and as someone that had the blessed opportunity to see him on his last tour at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, I have to tell you that you are most definitely right in saying that you MUST see him.
Tom Waits is the voice of the underground. Every artistic step he has made throughout his insanely expansive career has been gold. He is hands down the most underappreciated musical artist of the late 20th century, as he has crafted, time in and time out, a poignant picture of the times and, more importantly, his times. He provides hope to the hopeless and vision to the artistically blind.
