i didnt mean to stir up anything when i posted, it was late and i was very out of it. i was wrong to say your points contradicted one another. what i meant was because its a festival it could very easily be expanded and the powers that be seem to be leaning towards doing so. i would love to see Bonnaroo turned into a full week/5 day festival because it is a lot more than just about the music.
edit: i dunno how manchester would feel about that

the fact is no one knows as fact what is going happen. we won't know till the lineup comes out.
um... the lineup came out 2 weeks ago. we know for a fact who the headliners are now.
That made me lol.
He meant the schedule, though. Schedule, not lineup. However, Sangreal, the possibility of Phil Lesh playing a Sunday Night set after Jack Johnson is very slim. I wish they'd go ahead and announce some bands, at least then we'd have something to talk about, instead of sitting here waiting for news and going stir-crazy.

we'll see. by the way, i'm not a fan of either phil or jj and if i were going to the festival, probably wouldn't even watch either of them. so i really don't care. i'm just saying what i think will happen.

Yeah, I'm not huge on either, but I would definitely take Phil over Jack.
I don't think people are thinking this Jack Johnson thing through completely, though. I mean, surely he'll have some guests on stage, isn't he friends with Vedder and Hammett? If he has an assload of guests on stage, the show might not be that bad at all.
If it's just JJ, god help his self-esteem, because that crowd is gonna be thinning out fast.

it is absolutely hilarious to me that people still do not believe this b/c they either don't want to, or don't have enough experience with Bonnaroo to understand otherwise.
Everything jtr210ny posted is 100% accurate.
IF YOU SAY OTHERWISE YOU ARE SIMPLY WRONG, AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW IT WORKS
there is really nothing left to say. You can claim this that or the other. No amount of articles from last year, or this year or false information from extraneous news sources is going to change the fact that the way jtr210ny (and the juggernaut) laid it out is HOW IT HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
Nobody laid anything out.. you just had a comedian added to the what stage as a "headliner" after tickets were sold out.. Did you have that laid out as well? I didn't claim anything.. I simply said it's 4 months before the show even starts.. how do you know that in 3 months jack johnson won't be listed 4th or 5th.. you don't.. none of us know anything.. and experience?.. you're joking right.. that's just dumb. Don't be rude, man.. no need.
"Nobody laid anything out.. you just had a comedian added to the what stage as a "headliner" after tickets were sold out.."
Huh? Since when did tickets sell out?
"Did you have that laid out as well? I didn't claim anything.. I simply said it's 4 months before the show even starts.. how do you know that in 3 months jack johnson won't be listed 4th or 5th"
Cause Bonnaroo has no reason to EVER do that. Jack Johnson is a headliner. He will not drop down the list.
"you don't.. none of us know anything.. and experience?.. you're joking right.. that's just dumb. Don't be rude, man.. no need. "
Everyone needs to listen to voices of reason and experience. I have been fairly obsessed with all things Bonnaroo since the first one. I have been every year. I have also worked in the concert industry for five years. I REALLY know what I'm talking about when it comes to Roo.
Once again, Bonnaroo has THREE headliners. Exactly three. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and NOT Thursday. Each day has ONE headliner with the marquee slot on the main stage. No more will be announced. Zeppelin is not playing. Chris Rock is not a headliner. Neither is Kanye. Neither is Phil. NO ONE will play after the Sunday headliner. They never have and they never will. It would actually be bordering on irresponsibility if Superfly booked acts after midnight on Sunday because people are SO fried and tired that they may push their bodies too far.
If everyone would listen to me confusion would cease.
I usually don't talk this way on Interwebbed message boards but I am very confident in my (obviously) authoritative knowledge on this subject.
I'm assuming that post will rub a lot of people the wrong way, so I'll go ahead and give you the karma you deserve before the smiting. Thanks once again for clearly stating what so many of us are trying to explain (even us n00bs).
The more you expect major additions and the more you expect the scheduling to happen exactly the way you expect/want it, the more disappointed you'll be in the next few months. Just assume that there won't be too many mind-blowing additions and focus more on how many great bands are already on the lineup.

jtr, I agree with your logic. Even though there is a small chance they'll do something different from year to year, I still don't have expectations of such things.
I just think that you tend to come off as conceded and arrogant when you share your wisdom, which is why it rubs people the wrong way. But then again... you have reason to be pompous right? Because when it comes to Roo and music you know exactly what superfly is doing every year...
I'm not pompous. There are just so many people with false conceptions about how this whole thing works. If veterans don't step in to clear things up then who will?

I really hope this happens - this is the first year that I have been excited about the Sunday night headliner - I cannot wait.
My first year was Phil Lesh & Friends - when the rain started - I left - headed back to camp
Last year it was WSP - I stayed around for about 1/4 of it - I think - not a WSP fan - headed back to camp
This year - I will stay for all of Jack Johnson's set (as a headliner on Sunday night)
I'm not pompous. There are just so many people with false conceptions about how this whole thing works. If veterans don't step in to clear things up then who will?
I think AC/Superfly could do a press release stating that there will be no Thursday night headliner, and people would still speculate on it.
Like I said earlier, I find the concept of a third late night being added much more compelling than a fourth headliner...
I won't be upset if he is, but I still don't see JJ as the headliner Sunday. Every year Roo ends with fireworks, but I just don't think his music is really fitting for fireworks.
I only saw Roo end with fireworks in 2004 while TAB was absolutely DESTROYING First Tube. What other years had fireworks? I'm pretty certain 05 didn't.
I think I asked before, but I don't think anyone responded:
How many people typically stay for the Sunday headliner (specifically Lesh in 2006 and WSP in 2007)?
It seems like they book bands with a somewhat specific demographic with the expectation that a majority of folks will filter out over the course of the evening and, therefore, relieve a lot of the traffic issues.
If everyone would listen to me confusion would cease.
HAHA! This is the most self centered, pathetic, and closed minded statement I have seen in awhile. Don't worry about your opinions, everyone's got them and ur not going to change anyone's mind. Save your breathe. Tell people ur opinion all you like, but there's no reason to bash others, until the schedule comes out. Then we can laugh at each other.

i hope that guy is wrong, just so i can laugh at him. even if he's right, it will be like,ok, you're still a dick.

yer damn right. I don't believe a fucking thing they say. They said the rumor of Metallica playing Bonnaroo was "false". Once they lie, I never believe them. It's a business my man, create excitement and make freaks like us talk non stop about speculation. this is one thing that makes Bonnaroo unique to me.
i hope that guy is wrong, just so i can laugh at him. even if he's right, it will be like,ok, you're still a weiner.
Bring it on buddy, I don't give a diarrhea if you laugh at me. It's an opinion I have based on speculation, same as everyone else here. There are things you can look at but no concrete evidence yet. Please laugh at me, please spite me too because every night i can't go to sleep because I have -10 karma. It's just embarrassing, I don't think I can face my family anymore
