Okay...so I told someone that I would make them a cd of Metallica to prep for Roo...I decided that I'd make 2 discs...one to showcase their lighter side...one to cover when they kicked ridiculous amounts of ass....
Keeping in mind that I don't have Ride The Lightning on this computer...what do you Metallica people think of these playlists?
EDIT: The above line isn't sinking in...yes, "Fade To Black" "Creeping Death" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" should be on this list....no, I do not have Ride The Lightening availible right now...so they can't be.
Disc 1: Tuesday's Gone The Memory Remains Whiskey In The Jar Turn The Page Low Man's Lyric The Unforgiven Nothing Else Matters Until It Sleeps Hero Of The Day Poor Twisted Me Orion Wherever I May Roam The Outlaw Torn (as per Mothersky)
Disc 2:
One The Shortest Straw Harvester of Sorrow Am I Evil Breadfan Stone Cold Crazy Hit The Lights Four Horseman Whiplash Seek and Destroy Battery Master of Puppets Damage Inc.
Anything I'm missing...the first disc has room...the second needs to drop songs in order to add any.
Note: It's not an accident that St. Anger isn't represented

If you're talking softer Metallica songs (or songs of theirs with great dynamic shifts) then I'd add two from "Load" and "Reload". Say what you will about those albums as a whole, but they had little spots of brightness... "Outlaw Torn" from Load, and "Fixxer" from Reload are two more recent songs that I feel are highly underrated... That and of course the obvious greats that were omitted... "One" and "Fade To Black."

One's on there and Fade is on Lightning which I said I don't have around right now...but I like the other suggestions.

No love for Enter Sandman?
I dunno, that song in particular has the potential to get me pumped up... Just ask anyone that attends Virgina Tech, they play it before every football game and the entire stadium is literally rocking back and forth...

LOL, word. Sorry, must not have read the post thoroughly enough
So What at Roo would be absolutely HILARIOUS... seeing people either gasp or laugh their asses off... as far as covers, I could see "Last Carress" going over well.

Can't mess with the Misfits....I'd love "Last Caress" (punk rocker at heart)
I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY.......

I like disk two. Is 'So What' a Danzig song? I'm not too familiar with the Misfits, but it sounds like it is. ;D
No the Misfits cover is "Last Caress"....first line is "I got somethin to say, I killed your baby today, but it doesn't matter much to me, as long as it's dead!" Happy little song....
"So What" is by an English punk band called the Anti-Nowhere League...and is probably one of the most inappropriate songs ever written...which makes it awesome.
Both of these were on a collection of covers they released as an EP right after Cliff died called Garage Days....that went out of print a long time ago....but was reissued as Garage Inc....a 2 cd set of all covers....disc 1 were new recordings (this is coming up on 10 years ago now) and disc 2 were all old ones from the original ep and other places.
Highlight of disc one is the acoustic Lynyrd Synyrd cover featuring Les Claypool, John Popper, and members of Alice in Chains and Corrosion of Conformity.
History lesson over....sorry...I like knowing this crap.

I'll put it out there...my favorite song off of either load albums was "Low Man's Lyric." I think it would be a great addition to the first disk. Better than hero of the day in my humble opinion.
edit...just saw it was on the list...Dont neglect To live is to die on the hard cd...epic masterpiece that always makes me think of Burton

It's a great spectacle! ;D
i thought you hated VT?! that's my favorite part of going to the games... putting your arms around complete strangers and seeing 60,000 people jump up and down to Enter Sandman...
This is proving harder than I thought...now I have Lightening to deal with as well (thanks jewclaw/hoodoo)
Gonna make the official playlist when I get home from work,...til then...keep telling me what to add....I noticed I'm missing "Struggle Within" I love that song...
Oh and as for sequence...how about chronological instead of heavy/soft?
