really, im just in awe of this whole thing. and ive pretty much kept my mouth shut ..but the sold out term is a little dated dont you think? we can argue the 458493289432 artists who sold ther tunes to commercials. flaming lips - do you realize comes to mind. did the lips sell out?
im peeeeved. cant even make a good argument..really its pointless
I dont think the problem is Kanye sucking live i think its more a problem of most hip hop sucking live aside from the Roots, Erykah Badu and a tribe called quest
So those are the only acceptable live hip hop acts?

he sucks live and his message sucks also. I dont think too may people at bonnaroo feel like hearing him rap about christian dior clothing, but who knows, with the crowd they are shooting for they just might.
since when does the "message" matter? what are we Christian rock fans?....geez ???
This is exactly why im not going to bonnaroo. Too many people that just dont care.

How about Bonnaroo only invite the same bands year in and year out and call it Samearoo (lame I know, but sometimes when you are tired of beating a dead horse, $hit gets lame).

no those arent the only acceptable hip hop groups just live they are. every hip show iv been to the sound is always crappy and the rappers always start to lose there breath and and cant keep up with there own songs aside from those groups and iv been to a lot of hip hop shows

how about we start hating on the foo fighters? i'm watching the grammy's now, man they suck, unfortunately i could see them headlining bonnaroo next year...

So I guess you just keep going to the shows in hopes of them eventually breaking that trend? I mean, if you've been to "a lot of hip hop shows" and keep experiencing the same thing, I can only assume there's some kind of draw.
id say sell-out could relate back to petty and esp the police but kanye west, who cares, when is he gonna play? not a headline slot... but even if it would be nap time for me. is anyone excited for kanye west?
well, actually i go to see diff hip hop acts all the time because i dont expect them to be bad if there album sounds good but in my experience more of these shows are bad than good. plus most of the time i get free tickets so why wouldnt i go. i mean how many hip hop shows have u been to and have u seen any of them multiple times ? and how many of those shows have been above par
if you dont like the constant mix up and diverse lineup you can go to allgood or vibes, which have the same bands play every year. (not knocking either fest becuz theyre both fun but they have many repeats)

well see, thats the problem because i do like an eclectic lineup, just not one that aims towards high schoolers.
Just like people's musical taste is a matter of opinion, what constitutes a good live show is a matter of opinion. I've been to a handful of shows that I thought were garbage but most of the people there were having a great time. A lot of people go to hip hop shows (that aren't the roots, etc) and think they're great. I'm not particularly jazzed about Kanye being at roo, but I'm sure a lot of people are and more power to them. Why don't we all just stop trying to rain on everyone else's parade?
i liked kanyes performance. man if he brings out daft punk like he just did. oh my god i would shit my pants. they are making a new album too so hopefully they will show up at roo

I really haven't been to more than a handful of hip hop shows in my life, but I guess I'm just really curious as to why you'd keep attending shows, free or not, if you're always let down. I'm not trying to bolster any sort of argument that Kanye is a great live artist -- just trying to understand why you'd keep attending if you're always let down?
All the complaining around these parts goes without question. I realize opinions are going to vary from person to person, but getting to the roots can be interesting!
