Well, Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, I don't think the super jam was meant to appease "jam band fans." I've said that a few times. But not everyone who was less than thrilled by the lineup was a "jam band fan." people who were dissapointed for a lot of different reasons. Some will be wowed by the superjam, some wont. superfly didn't add that to appease anybody. They did it to further enhance a fabulous lineup (and maybe as a last-min push for more ticket sales.)
I was more curios why Duder insists that its a black and white issue: That there are two factions: The "origional" Bonnaroo fans who lament the fact that the lineup is 90% jam like 2002, and everybody else who likes music that is somehow worse because some gets played on the radio.

I think he was just saying that it doesn't appeal as much to the "jam band fans", which you agree with, so i didn't really see what the argument was over. I agree that not all the people disapointed were jam band fans, but i'd say a majority were. So assuming this, this addition wouldn't reach out the the majority of people let down, which is all he was saying it seemed.

Not an argument at all, I was just curious. I was more responding to previous statements he made that he disdains the term "jam band" yet insists on factionalizing the whole farm into Jam and Non-jam fans. I was not trying to be argumenative or rude. Just friendly conversation about musical classification.

ya i was just disputing the dude who claimed this was a gift from the almighty superfly to the people disgruntled with the lineup. i disagree. im not saying ben harper, questlove, and john paul jones arent incredible musicians or that it wont be and incredible show. just that it wasnt a bone thrown those less then overwhelmed with the lineup. thats all.
and i dont want to factionalize anything. announcing the superjam was a marketing decision. i think it targets a specific demographic of roo patrons. nothing about music at all. you dont think superfly has labled roo attnedees into "factions" and has targeted marketing for those factions?
You guys are nuts. Hey guess what. Next week at this time you'll all be laughing and partying the night away and dancing to amazing outrageously beautiful music wherever and whatever it may be. YAYYYYYYYYYYYY BONNAROO IS ONLY 5 DAYS AWAY!!!!!!!! Cheers to that! ;D

Atleast my 45 revolver thinks so anyways. Hehe. Let there be peace or die! Sorry, did I mention I'm a strong follower of Gonzoism? I think my avator explains it all.

Either Jack White or Andrew Stockdale (Wolfmother) would be perfect "Plants" for Led Zeppelin covers. Unfortunately, they are BOTH in Europe during the superjam. Any other singers at roo this year that would fit? Or just maybe...they will give us Robert Plant himself!

Yeah no offense to Plant, the guy was one if not the best singer of the 70's. But I saw him on Letterman a while back and he's not sounding or looking to hot now-adays.
