Any bands/artists you have met that are going to be at this years Bonnaroo, or any of the past years?
Maybe you met them at Roo, or maybe just at a local venue.
I met Jeff Austin and Ben Kaufmann from Yonder Mountain String Band here in Houston. It was a very intimate show, but every seemed to leave so quickly after the show. We stuck around for no longer than 5 minutes, when they came out to talk to fans. We were pretty much the only ones still left so we talked to them for a good 10-15 minutes.
Jeff was real excited to meet us, and he was a freakin cool guy.
Ben reccomended us a bluegrass album, and told us to sit back, and smoke a little weed when we listen to it.
I got Ben's autograph on my ticketstub, I hope they play Bonnaroo again.
I met Billly from string cheese backstage after an incident last fall. I got access through a friend of a friend. He was really cool, his father, daughter and wife were there. The guy who plays hand drums was hanging out back there too. I think the same friend with the backstage passes will be at Roo, I will for sure looking him up, same guy got us backstage at Michael Franti too,but I didn't meet him.

I have met Wilco & The Flaming Lips.
Also, saw The Decemberists walk by me as we were waiting in line to get into the venue in April. I just told them I lost my wallet and it had my ticket in it. Got any extras? and they kept on walking. Oh well. I ended up paying $40 for a ticket anyways.
non-bonnaroo musicans that I've met mostly fall into the heavy metal catagory. I've met Kerry King (Slayer), all of DevilDriver, all of Lacuna Coil on (multiple occasions), 3 of the guys in Sevendust, all of Soil (when Ryan was the vocalist), Byron from God Forbid, Dave Williams from Drowning Pool (RIP), Phil from All That Remains (multiple times), all the guys in The Haunted, a couple of the guys in As I Lay Dying...hmm....I run into OJ from Byzantine a lot too, if he counts.

I actually had several beers with Tom Araya once. Slayer unknowingly signed on to play a gay club that I used to work at. He seemed rather confused but, pretty amused by the situation. I just kept giving him beer and we talked for almost two hours after the club closed. It was one of the coolest, most surreal experiences of my life!

wow, thats awesome and...slightly humourous.
Yeah, I love telling that story! He was one of the coolest, most laid-back guys i've ever met! Not at all like what you see on stage but, a great guy nonetheless! He even kept offering to pay for the beer even after I had made it clear that his money was absolutely no good in my world. Not at all what I expected!

Everyone in Tool except Maynard, everyone in Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, and the Flaming Lips. Talked with Ben Harper and Stewart Copeland. Lewis Black. A few others.

Oh... that story didn't go where I thought it would.

I play in a band with one of the Such & Such guys (the guy doing laptop music / interactive shadow puppet show). Last year, he watched Radiohead with Mike Gordon on top of a car. The car was owned by Sean Astin who once played a troubled teen on a camping trip in the movie "White Water Summer", opposite... you guessed it... Kevin Bacon. (not really after the Mike Gordon on the car part).
i met jack white (and the entire raconteurs) last year after roo i think it was me who spoke highly of the fest to him that convinced the white stripes to play /wishful thinking
just remembered: i have also met lee ranaldo of sonic youth, such a cool guy
Of this year's roo...I've met Warren a bunch of times, Andy Hess once, and Langhorne Slim who gave me a cd of his...which stops working halfway through.
Of past roo's: All of Moe, All of The Allman Brothers, Mike Gordon, Robert Randolph, Jim Norton....and way back when he was just Matt Miller, I went to school with Matisyahu from 5th-12th grade.
I got to talk with Bob Weir for about 5 minutes. He was very gracious and ended up more curious about what I do for a living than what he does. We ended up talking politics for several minutes. He is not overly friendly or warm, but he was pretty "real" and a dream come true to have the opportunity to talk to.

We came across Weir in '05 backstage... My husband went up to him, hugged him, said 'thanks for the music', and we went on our way. He got about 20 steps away before he turned to me and said 'oh my god, I have a f*cking camera, what is WRONG with me?!?!'
