^^^^^ First of all that's how the original "sessions" were carried out anyways. I think sometimes it worked perfectly and others it was a disaster as I recall.
On a sidenote. I think I've completely lost my mind because I'm starting to look forward to this FLips show more than any of the others. I've got Lips Mania!!!!!!

You're not the only one. I keep forgetting I get to see a million other bands and experience camping with 80,000 of my closest friends . ;D
things may change, but as of now i plan to go straight to mule and skip the flips. i like 'em, but the crowd is going to be insane and if i get to mule early then i can get a crazy good spot. we'll see, i'd hate to miss that damn spaceship
Man, I've got such Lips mania I'm even contemplating leaving The Police early just to get a good spot. Is it just me? Am I going insane? And how the hell am I going to convince the people I'm with to leave The Police. I can't believe The Flaming Lips are starting to trump The Police inside my head. Damn you Wayne and your magic!!!!!!!!!

you won't need to leave the police. you will have at least an hr. from the end of the police till the flips start.

Yeah but everybody else will be heading straight to FLips after the Police too. Gotta beat the crowd...

Yeah in 03 we dipped out on WSP about 30 mins early to get a decent spot for the Lips - we were still about 100 ft from the stage. I think there were people who missed WSP altogether to get up front. I'd imagine it's going to go the same this year. I know some of my group will leave early with me, but others would not leave the Police early for the world. No problem either way - to each his own -

yea, but wsp usually uses that entire time slot. i bet the police won't play past 11, if that long. wsp and dmb play till midnight or longer.

Actually, i would be pretty suprised if the police didnt play as long, if not longer, then DMB did. They never played any very long sets at bonnaroo. You arent gonna get a decent spot at the lips show if you dont leave The Police early, as you can see by the popularity of this thread alone.
Man this suck cause Im definately not ducking out early on the Police just to get a good spot for the Lips. Guess I'll have to catch em next time they're in town. I've never seen em so I imagine I'd be better off just waiting because from what I understand, once you've seen them, you've seen them. At least I'll get a bad ass spot for Mule with all the guests.
Anyone else think they are going to bring back the Late Night Which Stage for this one? Superjam was crowded last year with Dr John as its alternative, but the way this thread is going, I think the Lips will be much more crowded than Superjam was last year. (if they have it in a tent).
I don't know, any thoughts on the possiblity of the return of the Which Stage for the Lips. Judging just by how many people are excited on this board already, I'm going with Mule.
First of all, your comment on once you've seen them you've seen them. Not true. More like once you've seen them nothing else seems to matter anymore! Atleast that's the way I see it. And you will truly be missing out when you go see Mule over them as will I when I go see FLips over Mule. But that's Bonnaroo for you! And also, I've said it before if I was a betting man I would bet alot of money that the FLips WILL be on the Which Stage!

^^ i dunno, i love wayne and his antics...but imo, the lips are lacking musically. I've seen em twice, the first time i loved it, the second time i left disappointed b/c it was almost the exact same thing. Maybe i'm picky in that i like variety, but how hard is it to switch tapes? I would have loved to see them bust out some older stuff like the giraffe song or turn it on, or some of the more obscure songs off of the new albums like the wizard turns on.... or summertime. They don't need to play yoshimi and race for the prize everytime. That being said, i'm planning on going to the flips cuz they're one of my all time favorite bands and they deserve another chance, i just hope they mix it up a little.
I have had an overwhelming response with all of this many e-mails are coming in everyday. First Allot of people are trying to catch Ween's set (myself included)so We will accommodate that request and start slightly earlier to ensure that this is ok for everyone say 1-2 nothing for sure yet but it will be around that time. also Please e-mail me if you plan on attending because in the 2 or so weeks before I am sure there will be group e-mails that I will send out so please e-mail me or have someone fill you in that has mailed me.

a) its not that simple b) the FLips don't use that much pre-recorded material.
It's always been good enough for me to see Wayne and the boys put their heart and soul into every show. They put more time and effort into their live act than any other band I've ever seen.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!
Hey, I sat down and looked at the past three years lineup. Here's some hope for some of you, first off any band within the top nine bands on the lineup has not played a tent. Second off, when the Lips played late night in 03, they weren't as popular and they were number ten on the lineup and played a tent show. This year they are number seven. Primus' late night show in 04 at the Which Stage, they were number seven on the lineup (the number isn't important, the top nine part is). Also, Trey was number three in 05 and he was the only person to play Late Night Which Stage in 05. Last year, there were no late night shows that had people in the top nine. So my guess is, judging by lineup position, popularity, and other propaganda and stretchs of the imagination such as these, the Flaming Lips will in fact play the Which Stage.

Thats some quality analysis there. Well done. I'm hoping for some late night stage action from the Lips, and you've given me more hope... a tent will not hold them...

I agree, the Flips won't be able to fly their UFO into a tent anyway!
