dude every pop rock and pop country station in the country is running spots about getting roo tix on friday. tool and the police are on the radio all the time. especially since the news of the reunion. that seems mainstream i am not saying that these are the most mainstream bands in the world but it is by far and away the most mainstream roo has ever been. i dont know why it always has to be such an extreme position n peoples views. the police a far mor mainstream then any headliners roo has ever had with the possible exception of dave. and lets not for get that dave was a huge part in the travel roo has made from grassroots fest to where it is now. i like dave. i like tool. i like the police. but to say they arent a progression towards the mainstream end of things is just silly. im all for diversity but im not gonna go to bw3 and get steak and lobster. i want wings and chips damnit!
haha ok, what radio station with incredible taste in music do you listen to? Tool is NEVER on the radio.
"They won't break me because the desire for freedom, and the freedom of the Irish people, is in my heart. The day will dawn when all the people of Ireland will have the desire for freedom to show. It is then that we will see the rising of the moon."
and if they are its like schism or the pot. tool is not radio music. there usually is no chorus, strange time signatures, 8 minutes long, and most people dont get it.

I got an email back from bonnaroo's myspace this morning, which is the way to go if you want to ask them anything, and they said there would not be an addition before 12, so they didnt even really consider the roots and wild magnolia an announcment. This also leads me to believe we wont be getting one today, and obviously not over the weekend, so let the countdown resume next wednesday i guess....

106 in lansing michigan. they cycle throug the same catalog of tool, gnr, metallica, ozzy, korn, ted nugent, system of a down, etc... everyday. day after day. for years.
personally i dont listen to the radio. but if stuck in the plow or work truck and there is no cd player thats the station i listen to. again im not saying that tool is on kasey kasem or anything. i dont know why its always gotta be the extremes. i didnt say tool was the ultimate in radio pop. i did say it gets more mainstream play time then most former roo headliners. same with the police and the white stripes. im excited to see all of them. but its a fact that main stream popular radio stations are hyping roo like never before due to the police, tool, the white stripes, and dierks bently whoever the hell he is. and they get more pop radio playtime then anyother group of roo performers. and they have got all of the different stations covered. the whitestripes on pop, tool on rock, the police on classic rock and dierks bently on country pop. almost seems like a coordinated effort of some type. i guess im just a cranky crazy bastard though.

You cant deny this^. Its definatly true, but its not really a bad thing, since they're all good acts, dunno about dierks bently. And i think thats what dudes saying, hes just pointing out that this years lineup is indeed more mainstream, and therefor getting more mainstream coverage, not that this years lineup sucks.
exactly ziggy. its an enjoyable lineup. to me it just seems like the fest they should have had a couple of months after roo now that they own the property and not roo. but i will live. and i will have a blast at roo. honestly i could never leave camp and id still have a good enough time to justify the expense. although i could never possibly do that. but that dosent mean i wont point out things i disagree with or trends that worry me.

I totally understand the disappointment, and the arguments are valid. But still, my fellow 'roosters, y'all need to chill out. It was an assumption in the first place that there would even be artist additions before the ticket sales, it was never guaranteed. Had it been that they released an email saying "HUGE Artist Addition coming Friday morning!!!!", then it would be cause for disgust. But as it is, the only problem I see is if you expected them to operate this year like last year-- with a couple big, juicy surprises-- and that technically isn't really fair. Hell, at least we got something! Who among us isn't just a little happier to see these names added to the lineup, even if they were ignorantly added two days ago? So buck up, 'cause the lineup is still totally killer and now y'all have your tickets. Rock on!!

Thats wierd, I haven't heard anything about roo on any of the radio stations around here.
I have not heard anything around here either and have not really heard The Police being played except on the "classic rock" station and the Alt rock station is not playin Tool any more then they already did.
I love the roots, but I was already banking on them being there since bonnaroodective got the site with the roots already on there. They better blow my mind with this second addition and it better be quick
i haven't heard any commercials for bonnaroo myself, mainly because i don't listen to the radio. but i've had several people mention to me that they have heard commercials themselves, and these are people who are totally not into it. hell, even my chiropractor told me about one the other day.
i don't recall hearing anything like this last year.
