Why do people take it so personally when things change and get larger? The want to make money here and if they don't make money, they simply can't do it. You might not like it, but that's the way it works.
superfly sux ass. the music dosent start until noon on friday so make your travel/work plans based on that!! and heres an artist announcement youve known about since before the inital lineup was out. what a joke. an expensive joke. how many more years can roo continue like this? it seems like superfly is banking on mainstreamers to come to a 250 dollar fest year after year. i dont see it happening. i give it 2 more roos that continue down the same road theyve been going for years and it will be over. the original dedicated fanbase will be gone and they might have to sell out to mtv just to save their asses. if mtv would even want it at that time. so sad. oh well someone will pick up the slack. honestly if it wasnt for it being in kansas and the whole cop thing last year waka would be putting roo out of business this year! or atleast pulling the entire original roo crowd away. then superfly could sell 50,000 vip tickets.
I've never seen someone spend so much time posting on a board dedicated to a festival they hate.

i'm deffinatly not mad its getting bigger, the bigger the better in my opinion. the mroe poeple who are exposed to roo means more people who ahve the roo mindset. i'm just kinda pissed that they wasted an announcement with this
And I would think Superfly BUYING the farm would affect prices at least for this year. I'm sure it wasn't cheap to buy that farm, and I am glad they did. That means THEY control security and what goes on there. '

well i have never met anyone who could read my posts for months and think that i hate roo. i dislike the way superfly does business. i hate the way they mis-inform and treat their customers. and im unhappy with the mainstream direction of the lineup. i dont see how that is hating. im not thrilled with the bush administration and the way our country is going but i still love america and americans.(well 51 percent of them anyhow)

Take a stand then, man!
Don't feed Superfly your clams if you're that unhappy.
i'm definitely disappointed. all this anticipation (while fun) feels like i wasted my time to a certain extent now. at least i have langerado to refocus my mental efforts on, hopefully when thats over i'll have more 'roo stuff to get pumped for.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

tickets ahve beeng oing up every year, i expected them to be thsi price this year. i don't think buying the farm had much to do with it. if anything it means they don't ahve to pay rent anymore so they'll be able to keep a stable ticket price eventually
man, this is weak. i'm sorry, this isn't really news to anyone who checks their page every two or three days. waiting for the lineup until the 14th is cool and all, you had to wait for the police, but i think it'd be more respectable to wait to put them on the lineup until they announced it.
who knows though, maybe this was their effort to make us happy, by letting us know early. this does mean the next additions need to have bands just as good as the roots.

I fail to see what is mainstream about the lineup. Moreover, I always thought the emphasis was on quality, not obscurity.
roo's deff gettign bigger, btu i agree wiht you you that none of the bands on thsi line-up can be considered mainstream. turn on your top 40 radio station and the onyl roo artist you mgiht have a chance of hearing on it is regina spektor and they don't even play her very often. roo is concentrating on getting quality acts and that means more poeple will want to attend roo, and liek i said awesome!

I'm pretty dissapointed --not at the artist addition....THE F"N ROOTS, and some band I'n never get a chance to see (let alone hear about). THATS SWEET IN MY OPINION
I'm dissapointed in a lot of negative energy. For me the addition was confirmation, that THE ROOTS CREW, Philly's finest, the hip hop wonders of the world...will be in fact, kickin it roo style come Tennessee Time for all us faNS.!
aND YET PEOPLE Bitch, and call it lame"
Did you see the lineup? When is the next time your gonna see The Police, Tool, WSP, and the list goes on.. 100 plus bands....for less then 250.00 with the possibility of being as close as you wanna....with the possibilities of Roo all around you!
Sure Dierks Bentley, or Spektor, or Lily ALlen will be there...but so will some of their fans! N.M.A> Galactic, Govt Mule, Ween, Lips, and the other countless jam bands will have all their fans there!
That is roo... the mixing pot of people, good music, and positive vibes.
WHat's really lame, is people who think their the best, and everyone around them should be exactly like them! Bonnaroo would be more like a close minded cubical if that was true!
Stay Home with your piss poor attitude while we all "dance the night away" Most people are quick to login and comment on stuff they hate about ROO...as suppose to giving positive ideas, or feedback on the stuff that works...

In the words of Mike Skinner, "Lets move forward"
We're not saying that the lineup sucks, the lineup is great! What we're saying this addition sucks, and the way things have been run this year aren't as good as they could be. This addition was very weak, the Roots are solid, true, but we already knew this stuff! It was already on the site, therefore, not an addition, only further acknowledgement.
Although the first addition is not super huge, the initial line-up is amazing, and I am pretty sure that most on this board are pretty happy about the line-up and what's in store for us in June. We will hopefully get another four to five rounds of additions, and almost everyone will have another two or three "favorite" bands added for their listening pleasure.
dude every pop rock and pop country station in the country is running spots about getting roo tix on friday. tool and the police are on the radio all the time. especially since the news of the reunion. that seems mainstream i am not saying that these are the most mainstream bands in the world but it is by far and away the most mainstream roo has ever been. i dont know why it always has to be such an extreme position n peoples views. the police a far mor mainstream then any headliners roo has ever had with the possible exception of dave. and lets not for get that dave was a huge part in the travel roo has made from grassroots fest to where it is now. i like dave. i like tool. i like the police. but to say they arent a progression towards the mainstream end of things is just silly. im all for diversity but im not gonna go to bw3 and get steak and lobster. i want wings and chips damnit!

That is about how I feel. I love the Roots and honestly this lineup couldnt be better for me. Everyone who I wanted but didnt show last year is here this year (minus mmj because I missed them) so I am PUMPED for this year beyond belief. However, it seems as though superfly hasn't been running smoothly. We have been able to see these bands on the list for the past few days before they say "ADDITION!!"
I love the lineup but I just would like to see a little bit of organization right now..even though it probably will get better in the next couple months as they and us get used to the new site
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
^haha, at least in my opinion roo gives you steak and lobster and wings and chips. but thats just my opinion, your completly entitled to yours
good point. but it seems that if you just want wings and chips your still paying steak and lobster prices. i guess i could just not go. but roo has become a sort of family and friends reuinion for me so thats not an option. and we are thinking about getting a vending table this year. atleast there will be more custies with money! and it will pay for it all. and i just plain love roo. no way ill miss it until there is another fest the same weekend with a better lineup. hasnt happend yet.
Oviously we aren't calling the lineup lame or even the additions themselves lame. We just think it's lame to have a "additions" section of bands that were already listed on the site.
It's not negative energy, it's the airing of a gripe. Let the complaints out and then you'll feel better.
dude every pop rock and pop country station in the country is running spots about getting roo tix on friday.
Thats wierd, I haven't heard anything about roo on any of the radio stations around here.
really? my sister in tampa has been hearing about tool and roo ever since the lineup announcement. she says it is so weird to hear the radio statin at work doing the dj thing for roo. you know' dont forget this friday to get your tix to see tool at bonnaroo!! ' a friend in lansing heard about roo on a pop country music sattaion thats having a ticket contest. and my friend in san diego said hes been hearing about it on his radio station out there. they dont need additions this year. theyve got mass media to sell tix.
