I can't say I'd be heartbroken if Tool can't make it. Other people seem to really love them though, and I don't expect any great headliner additions, so I'll cross my fingers for you Tool lovers anyway.
Seems to me that neither Roo nor the band can wait around to see if he's gonna be good enough by then. I'd say the decision has to be made within a week. Maybe they'll go ahead and stay on the ticket, and use a backup if necessary.

Here is the thing, Roo is gonna have to have a back up plan because Tool probably can't give them a yes or no answer and probably won't be able to for a month or so depending on his rehab. So with that in mind they need to start asking around and making other arrangements and secure someone whether or not tool can play.

Guys, Bonnaroo just called me, and they've got some bad news, Bonnaroo's been called off! They said that they're going through a lot of things right now and it just isn't fair to us to keep seeing each other, but they really hope that we can still be friends. I'm sorry.
excellent points. i'm not gonna pretend to know a lot about the business end of the music industry, but i would think that there's a ton of behind-the-scenes negotiations that take place over a fairly extended period of time before a commitment is made on the part of either party. that being said, they definitely have to shake a leg and decide whats happening soon.
i'd also have to guess that if Tool backed out they'd be more likely to bump up an existing act at the show to headliner than to get a new one.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
Danny underwent surgery TODAY and is recovering well. Rescheduled tour dates will be announced shortly.
(Note: Danny just got out of surgery and it went well)
that is what the site says. it sounds somewhat optimistic to me. hes recovering well and new dates announced soon. and hell, bonnaroo is 4 months away. (thats my hopefull thinking anyways.)

hahahahaha - think about the crushed hearts and dreams of thousands of people if that were true
I suggest their new years eve show, thats the first one i really heard their new direction in. Its on oink, if you arent on there i can get you it if you'd like.
If he doesn't want it, I'd be glad to take it off your hands for you
ok HERES the thing. tools website says that danny did the injury over the weekend. this means that this happened almost a week ago. with this in mind, it seems like they would have already contacted bonnaroo and everything. so hopefully, they said they could play, because we havent gotten anything from roo saying they wont. either that or tomorrow will bring the news. but i really think they should have to know by the time tix go onsale. (this is also me with wishful thinking)
So let's see the potential rumors we might have started tonight:
1) Tool is not playing Bonnaroo. 2) Widespread Panic is going to headline 2 nights. 3) Phish will play Bonnaroo. 4) Jesus Christ will make a personal appearance at the superjam and bring the funk on the keys, but then will be betrayed by Kurt Loder who will turn the festival over to Clear Channel

look i know you guys are fans and want to claim thats he's irreplacible, and i agree, if thats what it came down to, i dont know if tool would wanna play with out him, but there are def many many many many people who can play as good and way better than him.
those arent even good examples and any one of those guys could easily fill in for tool;

I'm not sure I would want to see Tool with a replacement drummer. These guys have such unique styles and strong chemistry, I really don't think it would be the same or even close without Carey.
So naturally, the ONLY option is for Danny to get better immediately and rock the fuck out at the Roo!!!! ;D
