seems like a possibility to me... i have no idea what they are up to currently... touring with Gnarls Barkley? But, they seem to fit in the same mold as PJ.... and Frusciante was at the festival last year even though he wasnt playing.
CSN & Young RHCP Prince
That's be okay with me....
ps. i'd rather have tool or someone a little more off the beaten path than the peppers persay... but this would suffice.

sadly, i think your right, rhcp would fit well because they could play that long, but also this past tour has been huge for them, they've played pretty much everywhere or will, and although having them at bonnaroo would be acceptible, it would not be all that special, they've headlined lollapalooza and are playing coachella plus the huge tour, getting them shows me that superfly and ac didn't really try that hard to get that "one band that nodoby has" and that just wanted something that could barely get them by, please god, don't let the rhcp be a headliner at roo this year

I guarentee rhcp won't headline. That'd be weaker then 2 nights of panic. As brokenlight said, theyr headlining coachella, headlined lollapalooza, and have been touring for forever straight. It would be a horrible headliner, plus, they dont put on phenomenal live shows, atleast not in the spirit of bonnaroo.

i'd love to see the chilli pepers ten years or so ago. before their one hot minute tour. after that every album has gotten a little worse, in my opinion

If RHCP( that would be anti-climactic especially after now that PJ is out) headlines Bonnaroo this year I would be a sad sad man. Might as well have Dave sat night with Widespread closing it out to just phone it in then. Well actually Widespread on sun doesn't seem like a bad idea, you wont be missing anymore music if you decide to leave early before they hit the stage.
"We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, movie gods, and rock stars. But we wont, and we're slowly learning that fact & we're very, very pissed off......."
Didn't the Chili Peppers also do the Voodoo Festival and the V Festival? Not to mention all of their European festies. However, we can't really say that their playing lots of other festivals rules them out of Bonnaroo. Just look at Widespread, especially in 2005. Bonnaroo did TWO nights of them, even though they also played at least Lolla and ACL.
Also, Superfly shared Tom Petty last summer, with their own Vegoose and with Austin City Limits.
I still don't see it, but I don't think it's as unlikely as some of you guys are saying. However, I'd rather see Tool. Well, really I'd rather see Pearl Jam. Fuck

I guess it came out wrong since I for one would be happy to have Widespread close it out, more room for me if people left. I was just thinking along the line like last year where they had the jam headliner close it out. My bad to seem like I was dumping on them.

Widespread is awesome. And why would you leave early...can't handle a 4th day of music? On second thought, do leave early then we can enjoy the jams w/o your negative presence.
i pray every night that panic plays bonnaroo. one of my new years resolutions was to see panic more times in 07 than i did in 06 (which was 5 times). so yeah... i hope they play because that would be awesome!

Anyone else catch the Panic new year's shows in ATL? Let me just say that they are a completely new and rawkin band with Jimmy Herring instead of GMac. Truly a different band than we saw at roo in 05.
(and just to be on topic) I too am not interested in RHCP. I haven't liked a single thing they've done after Blood Sugar. So I would have loved to see them in 1992 but now there is no appeal for me.

I think the RHCP would probably turn it on more than DMB. Not meant as an anti-Dave comment, but I think the RHCP still kick out the jams more than Dave, and I think they COULD push their show more. If they played it'd be nice to see them go back in their catalog some. I am a fan of their newer stuff, but I also like their older work so if we got a big set where I could catch both I'd be happy. However, even though I'm a big fan of each of them as musicians, they don't compare to Jimmy Herring.
Anyways, summing it up...DMB<RHCP<WSP+Herring.
edit: I dunno what I did, but somehow in the past 2-3 days I've lost 6 karma points. I went from 5 to -1 without getting in a fight or anything. Anyone wanna come out of the woodwork and say why i'm getting karma fucked?

I bumped you up one.
c'mon people. Don't take away karma if the other person has a different opinion and is respectable about it.
For instance, if i said "i just flat out don't like DMB, but wouldn't mind if they headlined one night." Some DMB fans might take Karma because of the difference in opinion.

Ouch. I found that a rough characterization of DMB fans on this board. I thought most of the people defending DMB have been pretty respectful so far.
As far as isaac's complaint, I dug back and the only comment I saw that could have been inflammatory was something about 311/DMB/OAR bringing out dickheads. Taken out of context, that might ruffle some feathers, but there's definitely been much worse said.
Fair point GT, I did say that, but in it's context on a whole I think I said that a combination of all of those acts & John Mayer could bring out dickheads. Whatever. Thanks for the karma, it's nice to be back to neutrality
It would be nice to have three totally unique headliners, but in a financial world it's probably not too likely. Just to have two would be enough. If Superfly gets the Police and then someone else different (Clapton) then I wouldn't mind someone less exciting like the RHCP to play.
