Im not liking this thing where the festivals are competing to have the biggest band humanly possible. I mean will it always be 30 year reunions headlining these festivals. Nonetheless, I dont want to see RHCP headline roo. I like their music and all but from the live video I have seen they arent much on stage.
RCHP seem to be doing Europe this summer, so the discussion is kind of moot. Never heard anybody whose seen them live since 93 ever say anything amazing about them. I like Frusciante, though. The guy's interesting to watch play.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

RHCP is a truly great group of musicians, but as a band they just don't work for me. They seem a little too concerned with being "wild & crazy rock n roll madmen" for me. I enjoy a band with a good energetic stage-presence, but there is a point where it becomes just-plain overkill...or at least really distracting. Flea is one of the best bassists that i've ever heard and Frusciante is amazing, but they all come-across as kind of..."eh, so what?" when you put them together(IMO).

I kind of agree. Early stuff, like early 90's stuff? That was wild n crazy, madman type of stuff man. And the show defiantely reflected that. So I can see where they would feel the need to perpetuate that image... But Flea and JF are sooo insanely unreal!!! I'm undecided about RHCP at Roo...

Off the bat, Im a huge fan of John Frusciantes' work. I also have tons of respect for Fleas playing ability. That said, the Chili Peppers are a horrible live band. Its great hearing John and Flea play, but Anthony and Chad just bring the entire band down. Anthony Keidis is one of the worst vocalists I've ever heard and I say that without flinching. Even if they played, they surely wouldnt headline unless Superfly is really reaching for acts. The only way Id be remotely happy about them playing a roo is if TMV were playing too banking on the chance of a Volta w/ Frusciante set.
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

The Mars Volta would make my Roo, even if they were the only band scheduled that I was interested in seeing. The Mars Volta w/ Flea & Frusciante would be the best thing I can imagine!
