What kind of groups would you like to see this year? I liked atmospher last year and Jurrasic 5, The Roots, Blackalicious. Is there anybody who you guys would consider to be kinda underground that would play a good show I haven't heard of?

DJs like Cut Chemist, Numark, Madlib, Shortkut & Babu improvise beats and cuts, layering classic breaks over & into a funky, throbbing backbeat provided by the incredible likes of James Gadson, Paul Humphrey and Derf Reklaw! It is one of the best shows any real hip-hop fan will ever see, i promise! A dvd of one of their performances was released in 2004 and is definitely worth the purchase price. You won't be sorry. It's true that they perform very rarely, but if Bonnaroo isn't the right venue then I don't know what is. Several of them are Roo veterans and they definitely have a more "live"/"jam band" feel that alot of other acts in the genre. It would be perfect!

Like I said before in another thread. I'd like to see some old school hip-hop. A Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One, Deltron 3030, or some EPMD would tickle me pink.

I don't listen to much rap. I used to a bit and really wore out the Brand new heavies cd. wonder what happened to them? I know it will sound lame but humpty hump needs to sit in with some george clinton and P-funk with a mothership landing late night. I know thers alot of clinton haters on the board but that would make my day. I know its more funk than rap but add a little humpty(If he isn't dead lol)
I have a friend who would be VERY happy if Jurassic5 showed up. Personally I'll be happy with the Roots and Lupe Fiasco. Those are two I expect to be there and will definitely check out if they are. Other than that I'm pretty open, I don't know much at all about underground rap so if you guys have acts worth seeing make sure to mention them.

Saul Williams was a sweet show, and id definatly check him out again. I think lupe fiasco put out the best rap album this year, and itd be cool to see him at the roo. Way better then clipse's. If you havnt heard it check out the song "kick, push 2".
hey jason man, "wtf ?????????", lil wayne and tony yayo are skilled rappers, just because there not underground doesnt mean there not cool, personally i find mainstream rap just as good as underground and thats my opinon, what are you questioning that for, nah man im just joking im not trying to fight someone over a message board, just try not to dis lil wayne peace

I personally dont think there should be any rap at bonnaroo, or atleast very little. They havnt really had any yet, all they've had is mostly hip hop. I would be pretty disapointed if lil wayne or someone like that was there. The only rap id like to see is snoop, jay z, and maybe kanye.

It doesn't take much trying to dis Lil Wayne. He is not a skilled rapper and most mainstream rap is nothing but shit these days. Though him being mainstream isn't whats making him "not cool" its his disgusting attempt at decent music.....if Lil Wayne were to go to Bonnaroo I would probably cry.
looks like im the only lil wayne fan here, its all good i heard hes covering radiohead at his next show though, except that would be the only reason i wouldnt like him, maybe i pissed some radiohead fans off anyways bring the rap and jam to roo this year

Lil' Wayne would never get added to bonnaroo, they arent idots. He clearly doesnt go with the direction of the festival, which isnt saying anything about how good he is. I personally think he, and the whole genre now, sucks, but rap did used to be good and i still like hip hop, so i wont hate on you too hard.
Wow. People who say Lil' Wayne sucks know very little about rap and/or don't understand his slang. The guy's on par with early Jay-Z in his prolific output and is the king of the mixtape era. Just cause he looks dumb and happened to affliate himself with the worst producer this side of Diddy doesn't make him suck. That's like saying Biggie sucked cause Puff was his right hand man.
Skaggs, I'd give you karma if I could, but already spent it on someone else. That said, here are examples why you guys couldn't be more wrong about Lil Wayne: Exhibit A: Weezy rips apart Jay-Z freestyle (ie he never writes down his lyrics so all his stuff his pretty much freestyle) Exhibit B: Weezy rips apart Bush Exhibit C: Weezy deconstructing fame
But that said, Bonnaroo is not ready for a headline hip/hop or rap act. Wayne wouldn't play. He's not Roo's style.
And yes, it's okay for the naysayers to repent. There was a time I didn't know any better either.
