according to www.smashingpumpkins.com the SMASHING PUMPKINS are reforming and recording a new album
touring in june with 2 dates in germany so far, but unless they pull a Pearl Jam and stay in europe for all of JUNE then i wonder if they could be convinced to play at bonnaroo!
would be a sweet suprise and pretty cool... i never thought id see them live
that would actually be really cool. I've never seen them either but i like a lot of their stuff and they really have a good following and good music to play somthing at roo. I'd almost definatley see their show if they came.
Being from Chicago and not the biggest Pumpkins fan in the world, I can't do much more than roll my eyes when it comes to news regarding Billy Corgan. Still, I hate to be the guy who pisses in the punch, so if they were to actually show up at Bonnaroo (VERY, very unlikely), I'm sure I'd go and have a good time.
The problem is, I like early Pumpkins. And early Pumpkins, Billy wasn't in control of everything. That came later.
I don't know. I liked the Pumpkins a lot growing up. Then I got older, heard more groups and realized that a lot of the post-Siamese Dream stuff was blatantly ripping off all over Corgan's favorite acts, right down to the basslines. I'd prefer seeing the Cure or New Order to watching Corgan play his greatest hits.
^^^I mean, the thing is Smashing Pumpkins towards the end was really the Billy Corgan show. I think Iha brought the harder edge to the band early on that sort of went missing the later years when Corgan became more and more dominant.
But the Who are still touring with only Daltry and Townshend.
They may have the name, but this will never be the pumpkins without James.
As of now only Corgan and Chamberlain are known to be involved, right? How can you call it a reunion with only 2 of the 4 members?
Yea, there have already been several sources say that Iha and D'arcy have no involvement in this. This is basically Corgan using the name so he can play all those songs again, which is probably better for everyone.

At one time I REALLY liked the Pumpkins, but they kind of lost their attraction for me. They are a really good band, but I just can't take anymore of Corgan's monster "Rock Star" ego. He steadliy stripped a once great band of their relevance and appeal with his "my way or the highway" attitude. I read somewhere that D'arcy will not be a part of any reunion effort, wich doesn't surprise me all that much. I don't think she can handle him either. Regardless, if they are added to the Roo, I won't be there. *This is just my opinion. I am not trying to offend ANYONE.*

Yeah, really this reunion is just Zwan playing Pumpkins songs. I think I'd rather see Zwan, myself.
...but Dave Pajo has not been mentioned with any Pumpkins reformation rumors. Wasn't he pretty much the mosts recognizable member of Zwan(other than BC)?
I'm just saying that this "reunion" is Billy, Jimmy, and his traveling band of minstrels. Kinda just like Zwan was. I don't know who the other members are.
