I've been going to Bonnaroo since 03 and every year the more jammy shows are the ones that I walk away loving the most. This year my favorite show was Phil and Friends. I am also not a Radiohead fan. That being said, their set at Bonnaroo blew me away and I've been listening to the show at home over and over. I also can't take 2 nights of Panic and honestly would be happy if they don't play Bonnaroo again.
And for the record, Blackberry jam is my favorite.
mmm blackberry jam! We have some of that at home from a local farm and it's delicious! I like raspberry jam too. I'm going to be making blueberry jam at home since I have a ton after going to an orchard, but I don't like it as much as the other berries.
I'll be there for the boston show I'm super excited. I've already made an agreement with some of my friends that if Pink Floyd gets back together and plays ANYWHERE I will spend up to $1000 on a ticket, and up to $1000 on travel expenses. While Roger Waters doing Dark Side is barely a comparaison to a full Pink Floyd show, its still closer than I may ever come to seeing live Floyd.
ill be at one of the boston shows too!
and i already spent that much. i went to live 8 in london
and it was worth it.
and for the record, radiohead is amazing. and i made some awesome grape jam from the grapes in my backyard.
the thing that people don't like about radiohead is that they play minor chords. jam band music is major chord to major, building, buiding, major chords (oh, will they let it drop? no, no, play the same lick for 5 minutes, then change . . . to a major chord!). if you don't want to face the real world, full of nastiness and danger and staggering spiritual beauty spiraling up out of it, then by all means, hate on radiohead. to me, they are psychedellica made animate. IMO, that show was the best show ever.
All I really have to say is I dont know...There is this Guy that you probably never heard of ....I Think his name is Trey Anastasio...yea...He has no clue what he is doing....He "has no clue of the real world" and his lack of talent is just rediculous...what is that guy thinking...GET A CLUE! RECOGNIZE TALENT WHEN ITS IN YOUR FACE.....WELL MAYBE NOT YOURS!!!!

dude, mellow out
i don't really get the great divide that IS this thread, or the need to put down the musical tastes of others
we are all lovers of music, we were all in tennessee not even a month ago rockin' or jammin' out (or both!) and having a great time, there's no need for the bad vibes that have cropped up here

Just though I'd say....I love jam band music, I've seen 'em all. I've also seen most of the indie rock acts worth seeing and Radiohead truly blew me away. hands down one of the best shows, if not the best I've ever seen. It was absolutely phenomenol
debate is good. if you don't like it, read another thread.
responding to ignorance? i love it when people make these unfounded statements. it's like saying "you are wrong." sawgrass, prove your point, don't just say stuff.
i saw trey at oysterhead and at the super jam. did you even see radiohead? no. now who's ignorant?
i wasn't putting down trey at all. i think he's pretty good. what i was putting down was the notion that radiohead is boring or "somber" just because all their music isn't happy-go-lucky the whole time.
i think that trey is talented, i just think that he needs a foil in his band. i think that he's better in oysterhead because he's got les claypool to provide some of the danger so it's not just saccharin-sweet music. paul mccartney had john lennon to provide some much-needed cynicism.
look, i appreciate most music too and i'm not trying to divide everyone. i was just giving some basis as to why people who just love jam bands wouldn't necessarily get into radiohead (or tool or the mars volta for that matter). some people want to go to a show and feel nothing but happiness. radiohead gives you a bit of everything: the holy and the evil. as long as it's magical.
the reason why they played a bunch of slow songs in a row is because they were playing for 2.5 hours as opposed to their normal 2.
Lucid...I am with you man! My best friend was so hyped on Radiohead, but after 5 songs he said he was feeling sleepy (which was not condusive to our buzz) so we moved to the Troo Lounge and jammed until midnight when we moved to Dr. John. Had a blast

I am not a Radio head fan, well atleast i wasn't before the roo. i downloaded a set from A-damn and was blown away by Rhead, their show at the Roo was equally good, if not 30% better and it was really long, my favorite Bands of all time are TheDead and Floyd, with that being said i was open to rhead, i let myself be engulfed in the expierence, i also had a limted knowlegde of the songs that they were playing, sometimes you have to just let yourself go to the music, it was good, I thought they were better then Phil and Phriends, and i love the Dead, i just enjoyed the rhead show more, i felt thier whole show overal was an "expierence" as many have said. If people didn't get into the show that all right, i know some people feel the same way about the Mars Volta. if went in expecting too much are too little then inevitable rhead is going to give you whatever you wnat not because of how good or bad rhead was but because you want them to fill your expectatoins as being either bad or good,
I wasn't really a fan of Radiohead before roo, but their set was definitely an amazing experience. Their approach to music and live shows is different from anything I've ever seen, so, even though they didn't really jam out, I really dug their show.
As for Beck--he sucked. His show was more parlor tricks than music. I was sad I missed Cypress Hill after seeing the pictures.

Ditto on Beck. It was almost like he didn't even really want to be there.
I think Radiohead was AMAZING. I don't have all their albums or anything. Just some downloaded tracks. But then again, I was still familiar with their music and knew what to expect. I just chilled out. It's a different sort of amazing than anything else.
