Mmmmmmmmmm
give me strawberry jam over grape jelly any day
I definately know what you mean about the lack of spreadability for grape jelly, but my solution is just to put a ton of grape jelly everywhere, afterall grape jelly is still very awesome. Strawberry jam is a great changeup for me. While i may enjoy a sandwich with strawberry jam more than grape jelly, i think i could eat grape jelly on a more consistant basis. It's sort of like apple juice. I love it on occassion, but i'll take OJ or some grape juice for my day-to-day business.
But then you have to be careful of falling gobs of grape jelly with every bite you take. Maybe I'm just a messy eater, but I have had incidents with sloppy, gloppy grape jelly. You can't get an even, smooth layer of grape jelly like you can with strawberry jam.
I'm a fan or orange juice too, but it has to have some pulp in it.

Ahh, yes, but if you are lucky enough to be using a plate or napkin with your grape jelly sandwich, then the dropped jelly is just used as an added dessert. Tropicana "some pulp" OJ is my drug of choice. Drink a few glasses a day, and you'll be healthy forever!
That we can agree on, I'm a fan of "some pulp" too. And I can see where the dropped jelly could be an added dessert. Now I'm really in the mood for a PB&J sandwich, I hope I remember to bring one for lunch tomorrow!

Do you guys think that the overall lack of "FEELING or VIBE" this year had to do with somewhat non-"Jam" headliner.....mmmmmmm......maybe??? ie: you can fill in the blank

i guess two nights of widespread panic would have been better.....*yawn*

I was happier this year than I've ever been before, so I wouldn't call it the "overall lack." Just because you left with your panties in a bunch doesn't mean you represent the entire crowd. If you're looking for a strictly "Jam" oriented fest, you can probably drive straight in just about any direction between the months of May and August and you're going to run into one. Bonnaroo started eclectic and and has become more so throughout the years -- you weren't satisfied with Roo this year -- that doesn't mean you need to piss in the punch.
ah the good old days, 2 nights of panic (with mikey at his last shows) with ANYONE else whose ANYTHING in the jam world with 70,000 (in '02) of your closest friends for 3 days who also have nothing else to do because theres no summer tour this year.
and im definitley not being sarcastic. but i also know now i guess that you cant have that AND radiohead etc., im glad ive seen it both ways i guess, dunno maybe im just confused.

dont get me wrong..i love panic. alot. but it is a bit much to have them play 2 headline shows at a fest like this..not many bands can pull that off. the list of bands that i think can do this effectively without treading in "overkill" waters is:
Sawgrass im with you man, i could care less about Radiohead and Beck. Nothing wrong with them just not my style. I mean id love to see 2 nights of Panic again (favorite band). Next year hopefully, Panic one night, The Dead one night, and Blue Cheer with Country Joe one night awesome as hell, never gonna happen though

Nobody said I wasnt happy, I was just commenting on everyone else's acknowlodgement of lack of ........whatever....Just giving my opinion..didnt know i would receive smite for expressing my opinion. Narrowminded maybe. There were no panties in a bunch, I didnt mind missing radiohead because i was getting ready for the best night of roo with trey, mike, the duo, phil, dr. john and dumpstafunk, the masqeurade PURE FUNK my brotha. No regrets here! Had a blast myself!
I would have to say that Sawgrass really deserves no spite....he really wasn't even complaining from the get go, he just wanted to know if they Jammed. So even though I dis-agree with your non-liking of radiohead you are definately entitled to that.
I personally felt more of a "vibe" this year than I did in '04...
I can't tell you how many times I passed some indie lookin kids who would say, just as I was passing them, "Man, this festival is awesome!" or something to that effect.
one of my favorite instances of this came from this punked out looking kid with chains, leather, spiked up multi-colored hair, the whole nine yards, who was just standing on the corner (can't really remember which one ) talking on his cell phone to a friend saying "You shoulda came out here, dude! I LOVE this place!" with a giant grin on his face.

But Radiohead rules!
oh yeah and so does Strawberry Jam!
Score one more point for strawberry jam!! Can't go wrong with the JAM.
One of the guys I was with wasn't a jam band guy, and he didn't like Radiohead's set, so it's not just people pining for a Widespread Panic-type act headlining who were bored. The main complaint he had seems to be the one most people who didn't like the show leveled at it: it was too low key and somber.
To me, the easiest comparison to draw is Pink Floyd as far as experimentation and tone of the show. I think both bands jam quite a bit more than their given credit for, but they're mostly rock bands whose songs are depressing. On top of that, Radiohead's set was more low key than normal, breaking out pretty much every ballad type song they have.
Personally, the inclusion of "The National Anthem" in the set pretty much made my evening. Only wish more people could be as somber as us Radiohead fans and enjoyed the rich melancholic paranoia that is Radiohead.
I love Pink Floyd, I just bought my tickets to see Roger Waters in September. Supposedly he's going to do all of Dark Side.
It's funny, the friend I went to Bonnaroo with called me up last night about the Radiohead set. She said she listened to the download and was blown away. While we were there in person we were exhausted and a little cranky. She said it was like hearing a completely different show than the one we were at. I'm definitely going to give it a listen and I'm sure I'll regret not appreciating it as much when we were there.
I know! I went through two DSOTM CDs from so much use. I listened to that more than anything else in High School. The tickets we got are lawn seats too, so it'll be nice to open the blanket, sit back and relax. Like a mini, mini Bonnaroo.

I'll be there for the boston show I'm super excited. I've already made an agreement with some of my friends that if Pink Floyd gets back together and plays ANYWHERE I will spend up to $1000 on a ticket, and up to $1000 on travel expenses. While Roger Waters doing Dark Side is barely a comparaison to a full Pink Floyd show, its still closer than I may ever come to seeing live Floyd.
I thought Radiohead was completely and totally amazing. I like their music, but always considered it a bit somber and would only listen to it in certain moods. I wasn't sure how their set would be, but i was really blown away. I actually was discussing this with my boyfriend tonight--I can't believe that people thought the show was too sedate. Other than MMJ, it was the show with the most energy that I saw this year! I bet that if the big screens had been working right and everyone had seen yorke's frenetic dancing on the stage, more people would have seen the band's energy.
oh--and i must say that i really love raspberry jam. with the seeds. and the more jam/jelly the better!
is anyone else getting depressed by the tickers at the bottom of some people's posts moving further and further away from bonnaroo? because it makes me want to cry every time i see it!
Bring Widespread back, i dont even like them but they keep me awake if nothing else...
Yeah, but see, I nearly fell asleep at Panic when I saw em last year. I fell asleep at The Dead in 03. It's not like I didn't like those shows, they kinda got spacey, and in the state I was in, it didn't suck me in, it just put me to sleep. Honestly I can't see how anyone couldn't get sucked in to a radiohead show, with the lights and everything else. Unless you're all jacked up on some sh!t, which wouldn't be the ideal state to be in for thier show, obviously. I was nearly sober at the bonnaroo show, and I thought it was absolutely amazing. All it takes, for me, is a gust of wind timed perfectly to the music, to put me there, and that show put me there over and over again.
It almost seems like some people won't like them no matter what. And to those people I say, oh f*cking well.
