Ive been to a few incubus shows and I have to say they impress. If you watch their dvd ALive at Red Rocks.....youll see em do quite a bit of jamming. AT one point Brandon hops on bongos, ben kenney (of The Roots) and jose on drums, and they do a 3 man drum thing thats cool. BUT and this is huge.....Incubus draws the lamest fuckin crowd ever. All I hear is take your shirt off Brandon. Im not endorsing them, but I would definitely not miss em. Very musically talented. Also, Im hitting the trifecta this year for a person who likke s the same music as me, NIN Radiohead TOOL in the fall. I think everyone here would agree TOOL is pretty fucking bad but it would be kinda weird having the at ROO...but its TOOL so Ill take them any damn where I can.

That's awesome... My big trifecta was Pearl Jam, NIN and Roo all in the same 30 days. NIN is my all-time favorite. Have you seen the updates on NIN.com with the video of TV On The Radio, Trent and Peter Murphy?
I just couldn't imagine Roo with Tool! Bonnaroo is just such a bad ass time in itself but to add Tool would be outright CRAZY! I don't know what id do? It'll probably never happen though...

Its been said before, but with the fabulous response that Sasha got, I think some more electronic acts would do a body good. For example: Underworld. That would really take bonnaroo (for me) over the edge. I love them and i think they are funky enough to pull it off. Or like...basement jaxx. something like that.
I love everyone elses sugggestions so far as well <3

Hooray for Underworld! I would love to see more acts like this next year.

Tool, Phish, and Incubus would make me a very happy hippie ;D
I think some people have the wrong impression of both Tool and Incubus - and if they saw them live they would realize why they would fit into Bonnaroo just fine.

Headliners?
Pearl Jam, for all the reasons stated before. Widespread, to fulfill the "jam" quota. And also, Paul Simon, for the "legend" slot. I could definitely see Paul Simon on a Friday night at Bonnaroo, with Pearl Jam Saturday, and Panic closing.
Also there next year: J5 (new album out this summer, touring heavily), the Flaming Lips, the Shins, the Arcade Fire, Tapes n Tapes, Addison Groove Project, Strangefolk, Galactic, SCI, Yonder Mountain, the Roots/Talib Kweli, Del McCoury, Brad Mehldau, MMW, Bloc Party, Disco Biscuits, Solomon Burke, Particle, Perpetual Groove, Gov't Mule, the John Mayer Trio.
I agree with everything you just said and i hope for alot.. i love john mayer trio, and bloc party is doable, but kinda a lilttle overdone
Friday - The Pixies Saturday - The Dead Sunday - Peter Gabriel
This would be pretty damn amazing, although I see Pearl Jam as more of a draw than the Pixies, so I could see the Pixies playing right before Pearl Jam. That would get me back next year. I am going to get greedy and say why not David Byrne, too.
Also the Lips, Mars Volta, MMJ, MMW, Soulive, J5, Cut Chemist should all come back. Add Ted Leo, Blueprint, Arcade Fire, Kinky, Wolf Parade, Animal Collective, Diplo, TV on the Radio, Babel Gilberto, Al Green, White Stripes, Postal Service, LCD Soundsystem, and Brian Wilson. And 40 or so jam bands and we are back in business.

This was the first year I was interested in all the headliners. I think WSP are likely -- pushing a new album this year and all. God I hope Clapton doesn't headline. That man hasn't done anything worthwhile in a couple of decades
That has to be close to the dumbest thing I've ever heard a supposed music buff say. I'm ready to award the prize.
It is in fact an arguable point that Clapton has been putting out the best music of his career in the last decade, roughly beginning with his 'Unplugged' set, which brought him back to basics. He has been churning out some of the best pure blues ever recorded since then, and his latest foray back into a more pop-based sound is his best of that sort of music since his mid-70s period when he made his first several solo albums, the best of which was probably "Slowhand" although I am certainly willing to give "461 Ocean Boulevard" a nod.
You're allowed to be young and to prefer this over that, but to declare Clapton's creative period to have ended decades ago? is actually a pretty big clue that you have no idea what you are talking about. And I mean none.
Seen clapton twice in the last ten years. Have to agree with aquarium. Clapton is without passion. Jobber performances for 50 dollar tickets. That equals about 5 small club performances by acts who have interest in putting on a show with a little excitement. Not disputing his skills, just his soul these days.
Also, if you have read any of aquariums prior posts, you'd realize he has pretty diverse taste in music, has seen a good lot of shows, and deserves better than to be dismissed in your most absolute of terms.

It seems you're well versed in Clapton's recording history. Have you ever seen him live?

I haven't heard a Clapton song made in my lifetime that is anthing more than tolerable. Everything I've heard has either been warmed over blues dreck, a sh*tty ballad, a really god awful reggae retread, or some jaunty 80's sounding tune that should have been drowned at birth, before radio could latch onto it. Just because the dude was once great doesn't mean he still is -- let go...just...let go. Great guitar playing doesn't make a good song. Have I listend to all of his albums? Nope, and I never will. I've heard enough and I don't want to hear his embarassingly vanilla tunes ever again.
Call me naive, or whatever else you please, but nothing you call me will ever be as insulting as your fanboy defense of post 1980 Clapton output.

then you are NOT the one to be critiquing him, eh? lol
And you are COMPLETELY wrong about what I said, which was: his post-1996 output may well be his strongest, and his other very strong period was the mid to lat 70s.
I seem to have COMPLETELY AVOIDED his ultra-lame 80s period...

Only on TV, sadly, although I may trk to Philly for his concert there coming up...however, his recorded live output is magnificent! Have you heard Crossroads 2? A three-disc "Live In The 70s" set which is insanely great. He would be a phenomenal headliner at Bonnaroo.
