I wasn't looking for a major departure from Thom. It's definitely just a collection of his own thoughts and he's following his folly. So whatever, I like it for what it is and will continue to look forward to the new RH album.
can someone please post it on another server.. the other says no more free downloads are allowed. please please please im going crazy because i wanna hear it so bad!
I've got it posted online, but don't want to publicise the link in the open... PM me if you want it. I'll be around for another hour or so, then offline until later this evening.
Yeah dude, let's hope they backtrack and make another masterpiece like Pablo Honey.
Well I liked some tracks on Pablo- I saw them in 1992 for $5 at the Boathouse and fell in love with the band. The progression from Pablo to Bends to OK is my favorite and I feel is more mature than the more recent jumps into spacier territory. But that's just me.

I realize my eye rolling icon came off really smart @ss. Sorry, I didn't mean that! That's awesome that you got the opportunity to see them that early on. Personally, I love a few tracks on Pable Honey. Hearing them souncheck with, and then play, "Lurgee" back in 2001 was about as big of a thrill as I've had! That said, Pable Honey is still my least favorite album of theirs (but I really love them all) and we'll have to just agree to disagree on which transition period is more mature. While my rabid fandom has faded a bit over the years, their music has still had more impact on my life than I could ever describe -- from Pablo Honey up through HTTT.

it is the mutant child of amnesiac and kid a. i like it alot. esp Black Swan. wouldnt mind seeing some of this live, not bloody likely though.
Yeah - upon my first listen I immediately thought that it reminded me of those 2 albums too. I like it. True it's not groundbreaking, but still very enjoyable and I'm sure it'll get it's fair share of time on the ipod.
The more I listen to it, the more I'm liking it. It's a nice contrast to some of the new songs they've played live (my favorite at the moment is "fifteen step"). I wouldn't be suprised if one or two of these songs may make a live appearance. Thom was emphatic that he had the full support of the band and the "s" word didn't apply. I've seen them do The Gloaming live even working through a crashed drum machine during the intro (I sort of like glitches anyhow ) It's not beyond possibility that some of these songs could be done live. Every time I've said "they can't play this one live" to myself, they prove me wrong. The prime examples that come to mind are everything in its right place, idioteque (which sounds better live than on cd in my opinion) and national anthem (i'd love to see something like the preservation hall jazz band do the crazy brass breakdown)

This is strictly a consipracy theory, and not necessarily something I believe, but it could be true.
Generally the way Radiohead makes albums is by Thom creating the song structures and bringing his versions of them to the rest of the band for them to be fleshed out. Well, they have said they are looking to release music in a new way - most people thought this meant through EP's, but maybe he's releasing his "demos" as an album. This would explain why he's being so anal about this not being characterized as a solo album. And maybe these are the other half of the new songs that will be debuted in N. America, and the leak was intentional.
Orrrrr, maybe this is Thom's solo album (I could certainly believe that especially with the personal nature of the lyrics), and I need to go back and listen to Analyse again!

Who the hell is Thom Yorke?
EDIT: Oh one of the Radiohead dudes... Nevermind
Jesus christ! I can't stop laughing!! Seriously, that is hilarious. And I'm not laughing at you whatsoever Lucid, I'm sure most people don't know the name....it kind of puts things into perspective for us rabid fans
hehe, I knew someone would get a kick out of it after i found out who he was... Im just not a Radiohead kid... I never got them, im excited to see them, but they never hooked me...
I love this album. Thom's voice is right up front....where it should always be. His range is amazing. The beats are great....I think it's different from most radiohead tunes. If you're really into radiohead....you can def. tell a difference. My favorite song is 'atoms for peace'. Thom is a genius! The band played 'Cymbal Rush' in Copenhagen. I'm sure they are going to play some more of Thom's song as the tour progresses.

Were you at the St Louis show? I am pretty sure they started the Gloaming and the machine glitched on them so they had to restart it. Damn that show was the shit!
