I have been SO GOOD this year. I have not bought one new thing for Bonnaroo (because I've spent the last 3 years stocking up!). We're only 3 weeks out now, and I refuse to give in!!
But those barrettes are awesome.
Buying one thing is ok! Especially if that one thing is cute and cheap!

Im going to wally world tomorrow for new bikini tops, and then i maaaaaaaaaaay have to get those damn glowing hair barrette things. you GUYS, i LOVE glowy stuff! geeeeez. I've got Sasquatch coming up, but I know I wont be able to pack as much "fun" as I will for roo, since I have to get it through the airport. so that's like my saving grace at the moment i think.
Secondly - and i seriously mean it and have proof this time - I have packed up SEVEN envelopes with GFT pins in them! Here is who I am sending to: mariarooz custeph butiambonnaroo bread213 jenNjuice nondirochelle jezebell
If your name isn't above, just let me know. I couldn't remember where I left off with the last set of pins, so there may be a handful of other ladies who sent me their addresses lost somewhere in my inbox! yipes! I am sincerely apologetic to theses ladies - It took me waaaay to long to get these out. Hope you all love them!
To any new ladies I havent personally welcomed - WELCOME TO THE GFT! Our thread is the shit. fo realz.

Yayyy mayo I knew I could count on you to rock out the glowing barrettes with me! I'm definitely going to have to order some soon.
And I think I saw something on that ebay store about adding more than one to your order, it sounded like you could probably save on the shipping costs at least. I don't know, ebay confuses me.
Can't decide whether I should plan on glowing pigtails or use these things to construct our dream of a glowing rootu!
And hey, if you clipped the barrettes to the straps of your dress/bikini/whatever then the glowiness could BE your boob accessories. (Er, but I would probably recommend additional boob accessories as well. I feel like the existence of the internet makes going topless not an option for me. Also the existence of all you people. Every time I consider it I'm like "uhh, I think I know too many people at Roo to be cool with that...")
ok guys...I did a search to make sure that this has not been mentioned before. It seems like such a stroke of genius that I just had to share...
a coworker that does an extended medical mission every year to a very warm locale (this year Cambodia) shared a tip: she wears skirts, and to prevent from chafing she wears men's boxer briefs....I am amazed that I have never heard of this.
sure, not as sexy as my usual undies...but who is going to see...and a whole lot sexier than chafed thighs....
^^ not weird at all. I asked her the same thing. She wears them AS her underwear...although I suppose that if that for any reason was creepy to you then you could wear regular underwear underneath.
as for me, I will be in the boxer brief brigade....leading the charge...as I plan to be skirted much of the time.
Gosh, all of y'all talking about not buying anything are KILLING me. I can't stop buying stuff. Of course, this will be my 1st Roo, so I guess I need alot to catch up.
i just want to say you guys ROCK on this thread! i have learned SOOO much since i started reading this thread a few months ago. this is my 5th roo and i never dreamed of all the cute stuff you can get on the cheap, never knew about etsy, body glide, bike shorts under skirts....i've been living in the dark! so....thanks! 22 days....

DITTO. And, mine are not what I would consider "Victoria's secret catalogue quality" so you know. not showing ALL of them off. Just the normal cleave.
Jezebell and Custeph - I hope you LOVE them! Glad I could get them out to ya.
AND - Zen - great idea. seriously. why DIDNT we think of that??? they're cheaper than getting "bike shorts"... you know those corporate clothing jerks screw us out of extra money bc they sell us ladies "bike shorts" when they sell essentially the same product to men as "boxer briefs".... ingenious. I actually popped into Wally world today - and they had some bike shorts by.... damn i forget. ummm... danskin?! maybe. Anyhow, only $7. I got some gray ones - they have the cotton crotch, so i plan to wear them under dresses sans undies. And come to think of it... yes! YES! they look JUST like boxer briefs. hmpf. Also I tried on the bikini tops... maybe my boobs are just too much for string bikinis, maybe im not tan enough by my own standards, maybe it's too cold outside today for me to be in the bikini mood - but i put them back. Im gonna try again next week.
And - i will confess - I got a dress. only $15. REVERSIBLE! so it was justifiable as TWO dresses. Multi-tye dye on one side, purple polka's on the other. smocked top and mega cute. BUT THAT'S IT! NO MORE! only BA's from now on. Glowby's are next...

Hanes makes some boxer brief type things for women as well. You can buy them in packs of 2 at Target.

I guess my concern would be... well, don't boxer briefs have the "manly hole" in them? I mean, it would be nice to have a little extra breeze through my nether-region, but I'd probably be more concerned about that hole than chaffing....
even the "manly hole" thing has an overlap. Most men of average to above average endowment don't spontaneously cause them to pop open....lol
Hmm.... guess I've just got that effect on the guys I know?
j/k
I'm not one to add layers when I'm hot. The idea of wearing bike shorts or even boxer briefs makes me sweat just thinking about it! I just reapply the gold bond every few hours.

hello beauties! i haven't posted in ages, but i wanted to share my anti-chafing tip: deodorant! i buy one of those travel size deodorants that you find in the travel aisle at a grocery store, target, etc. it fits in a bag/purse/backpack so easily, and i just reapply when i feel like i need to. it is cheap, and works just as good as body glide or something similar. i just rub it on each inner thigh and i'm golden. i use dove, but any "stick" would work. i don't think i would use one of those soft solid kinds.

...I had just bought two absolutely perfect Roo dresses for $9 each as Ross. They are triangle spaghetti strap breathable cotton with padding in the cup by "She's So Cool". ..
I wore a dress from Ross from this same brand to Roo last year and it was fabulous! Only thing though, the rings for the straps are plastic, I recommend heavying them up with some thread - I had a plastic ring snap just before I left for Centeroo and had to keep the dress together with a safety pin. However I rocked the heck out of that dress for the rest of the summer - great dresses!
Yeah about a year ago a friend bought a dress like mine after I tried it on while we were shopping and loved it, but I was only window shopping since I was broke, so she bought it and I always wished I had bought it... Her's snapped on her, too. (she is larger chested an I haven't had that issue yet) I haven't reinforced mine yet, but I have a sewing kit packed already.
I thought about boxers, but i am not sure they would work so well on me.. I looked at my fiance's and they would be too short on me. They are standard length and all, but I'm just leggy. That's a great idea though.
I'm trying hard not to buy anything else.. I got glow sticks at Michaels the other day.. The tubes that are 15 for a dollar, only I had coupons for 40% off so I bought four tubes with four transactions and paid $.60 each.. Yes.. I'm that cheap... So glow sticks, lady crocs in gold for $13, 4 $9 dresses from Ross, a $15 flat travel flat iron, a $15 fedora from Target, and a $5 backpack from Walmart... And I need a new pair or two of bike shorts.. Overall I haven't done too bad, but I need to stop while I'm ahead. I will not buy glowbys. I will not buy glowbys. I will not buy glowbys......
I bought boxer briefs the first year and didn't like them. They seemed too heavy, too tight on the cuff, and a tad too short for me. But then I bought cheapy ones from Tarjay. Something like UnderArmour may be pretty money under dresses.
I wear undies under my bike shorts because it sops up the sweat (gross) and actually makes me feel cooler than having swamp butt under the shorts.

Just in case you get the bug to get these again.. you put how many of whatever single color you want, click commit to buy then a page will pop up and you will have an option to either go back and buy more or check out... click the button that allows you to go back, then you can choose the different color you want.. i ended up with a Rainbow, Green & Pink
Hey ladies!! I'm a long time lurker.. I have no idea why it took me so long to register!
I love the bike shorts idea.. I used Goldbond for chub rub last year and it worked pretty well but I might go for shorts under my dresses this year. For those who have worn them at Roo, how is it getting them up and down in the port-a-potty? Once they get sweaty it seems like they might be a pain to pull back on.
Also, have any of yall ever tried putting a hydration bladder in your regular bag? I don't have a camelbak nor the funds to get one... BUT the bladders are only like $10. So I was thinking that maybe I could try that out?

I would invest in a pair of under armour or similar brand bike shorts that will wick away moisture and release body heat. I can't see boy briefs doing that. As for the bladder, it's totally doable, but you'll probably want to find a way to insulate it a little bit, or you'll just have a bag of hot water within the hour. One of those oldschool cheapo insulated lunchbags could work- the triangle-ish shaped ones.
Yup, having wicking bike shorts is super important. Regular cotton will just get soggy and irritating. But wicking ones are easy to pull up and down in the portos. I generally wear mine instead of underwear, though last year I did wear undies underneath a few times. Again, synthetic were easier to deal with than cotton.
The men's boxer briefs are a genius idea! I got a 4 pack for cheaper than 1 pair of my bike shorts! They do sell women's boxer briefs, but they are very short with no thigh coverage. The men's kind are nice and long.. probably half way to my knees.
Stupid question.. where do you put the gold bond/body glide/deodorant? Just on your thighs where they would rub?

I just bought Camelbak last night for $35.95. I had planned to just buy a $10 bladder & put it in an old backpack, but this seemed like too good of a deal to pass up. www.sunnysports.com/Prod/CMLDSN.html

If you can spend another $10-15, wal mart and costco both have some camelbak knock offs for $20-25. Or if you can bring bags of ice in your cooler, you can fill the bladder with ice cubes and wrap a towel around it before you put it in the back pack. That might keep it cooler a bit longer.
First post here in the GFT, I found some great 100% cotton dresses at Old Navy. The plus side, I can wear them to work now with a cardigan over them. They had a kind of Monet print feel. All the tips on this thread are great!
