Just found these fiber optic barrettes. They're only $5 and come with batteries. I think these would be great with certain costumes or just fun after the sun goes down. They come in green, white, purple, pink, blue and red.

Oh man, those barrettes are awesome! And I don't THINK you'd have to worry too much about security. I bet if you waited to turn them on until you were inside nobody would even notice, but I don't know that anyone would care even if they did notice. I might have to get some of those...
And Annabelle, I love your dresses! I'm so jealous. Wish there was a Ross around here.

Thanks! I was happy to find them so cheap.
Last year with the glow stick thing I was so sad when the guy took them all from me.. Even the brand new tube of 15 in my purse.. So I would just use discretion going through the gates just in case. I can't decide between the green and the white.. I would love the color changing one, but worry it might be too distracting to my neighbors in the crowd.
Has anyone visited the Bonnaroo Salon by Garnier Fructis? Says they offer a complimentary hair washing and styling... which I'm thinking might be mighty nice on Saturday. I have really thin, flat hair (especially the day after I wash it) and it might be nice to have it blow-dried (blown-dry?) at some point, if they offer that.
Also, any recommendations on dry shampoo? I've always wanted to try some, and this would be a great time. John Frieda makes some that comes in a spray can like hairspray at Walgreens for like $6.
Oh man, now I want to make a pouch of some sort that I could strap to my thigh to wear under my tutu like a holster...sexy outlaw style! I'm pretty sure there's no way I could get it to stay up without it being ridiculously uncomfortable, but that would be a fun way to carry my phone or whatever I needed at night. Oh well.
The whole time I was thinking "I could totally make one of those"... except I would call mine a fanny pack for your wrist
I think the biggest issue would be finding a good fabric to use. Something that wouldn't rub or chaff against your skin... maybe with some spandex in it for stretchiness.
Annabelle's post underneath yours made me think... an old swimsuit bottom, perhaps? Nice, stretchy, and comfy... and free, besides the zipper and whatever you'd need to sew it if you used something you already had.
plasticpepper, sugarhigh, Clairity: Heck yeah- if you wanted to create a pouch for your upper thigh, you could just use a garter belt as the base, then create the pouch to go on it somehow.
amyj315: I'm totally getting a P-Style. It will probably be my first (okay, second) purchase for Bonnaroo supplies this year. I'll pack it in a zip-lock bag along with another little baggie of anti-bacterial wipes to wipe it down after each use. So: use, wipe myself with it (some of the other non-pstyles you have to bring along toilet paper, but not with this one), shake off as they suggest, then wipe down with toilet paper and/or anti-bacterial wipes. I plan to practice at home before I leave. I think they're All Awesome.
I went through my summer clothes, i.e., roo clothes!, today and noticed all my favorites from the last two Bonnaroos plus the ones I bought for this year are almost all the same. I think I have a "rooniform"! I have about 10 bright, strapless, smocked jersey dresses. They're just long enough not to need shorts and I don't wear a bra with them. Do you all change up your Roo wardrobe? I only care about comfort while I'm there, even though I'm fairly stylish at home, so I'm not even going to bother with packing anything else this year!! I can't wait!!
The Salon there always sounds like a great idea, but it gets crazy crowded and isn't worth it if you have any bands you care about that day. You get a number and have to wait to be called. Tons of girls grab numbers and walk off to check back, and some never do.. So it is so hard to have an idea of how long a wait time is. And there isn't enough real room for a waiting room... But if you were there with just girls who wanted to get their hair done and didn't mind waiting forever it would be a good way to stay cool.. I think it was air-conditioned.
I just bought a pstyle and so excited! the potties arnt horrible but this will make the xperience so much better! Last year the best thing i wore was a strapless dress with a two peice and little biking shorts. It worked out great because i could take off the dress and shorts and get wet under the mushroom and then waited to dry off which as past bonnarooers know it was so hot it didnt take long at at to put my clothes back on.
took several bathing suits and just wash and hung to dry then wore again.

Yeah, I would love to go have the Garnier Fructis people do something to my hair, but I just don't care enough to wait the ridiculous amount of time involved. I might go grab a number at some point and see if I can manage to come back at the right time, but idk.
Hey Ladies ~ just wanted to give a quick shout out and thank you for all your posts...Long time lurker, very infrequent poster...it looks like there's a lot of that around here! This will be my third roo - couldn't go last year b/c my BF wasn't working at the time but can't wait for this year. This thread literally saved my noob ass at my first Roo in '08.
I've started my roo prep & made my packing spreadsheet! Just getting ready to start picking clothes & I decided to come back and check in on my fav thread @ inforoo. Rootus? YES! Feather hair extensions? Don't mind if I do! I took some costumes in '09 (Pirate, hula outfit, wings) but honestly, once I got there, it was too quacking hot and I was not feeling dressing up. My advice is to keep in mind what YOU are comfortable in, modify that a bit to adjust it to the heat & crowd and just chill! I'm a heavy planner type, so I get stressing a little - but have fun with it!
Thanks to all of the great girls in this thread for the links, awesome ideas & suggestions over the years!! I'm going to start contributing more instead of just reading and not commenting!

I ordered the color changing ones! I didn't even think about it being distracting! Oops! I hope I don't bother anyone too much!
...I had just bought two absolutely perfect Roo dresses for $9 each as Ross. They are triangle spaghetti strap breathable cotton with padding in the cup by "She's So Cool". ..
I wore a dress from Ross from this same brand to Roo last year and it was fabulous! Only thing though, the rings for the straps are plastic, I recommend heavying them up with some thread - I had a plastic ring snap just before I left for Centeroo and had to keep the dress together with a safety pin. However I rocked the heck out of that dress for the rest of the summer - great dresses!
Hope this link works... Took a photo of my main 4 Roo dresses this year and uploaded them with my phone... All were $9 each at Ross and 3 of the 4 have padding in the cup so I can go braless.. And I love greens and blues if you notice a pattern.
LOL your dress on the far right is the same dress I had last year, but I had the maxi dress version! Super cute, I love all the prints!
Re: dry shampoo. I like Salon grafix, but have only used the colored version which I think could be a major mess at Bonnaroo. The clear or regular versions would be good for lighter colored hair, but I gotta say nothing is more refreshing than pouring cold well water over my head at the troughs; to really scrub your head clean totally is revitalizing. I don't care how it dries and I have weird wavy/curly/cowlicked/frizzy/fine hair. It's Bonnaroo, no one expects (and if seen may even mock) perfect locks. I do pigtails, bandannas, hats, random barrettes, etc to keep hair manageable: things I would NEVER do at home, but at Bonnaroo seems totally acceptable and great!
Oh yeah! Dry shampoo! I use the Treseme dry shampoos somewhat regularly. They have an oily/straight hair one that you spray on and brush out, and a dry/curly one that is a similar consistency as mousse. You rub it in and towel it out (it's wet). I like both (depending on how I did my hair the day before - straightened or curly), but the curly one seems to freshen my hair better. They also have a "freshening spray" that I like to use when I'm going out at night on that morning's styling.
Well... I just ordered some of these! I'll let ya know how they are.. should have them next week sometime ;D
*** i ordered a green & Pink and the rainbow one too without thinking about others... i was mainly thinking of just walking around... I figure you can just switch them off & on when need be... as for getting them in, i'm just going to braid them in my hair and surely no problems there...
I got four dresses for under $50 yesterday by going to Walmart and Target. Since I've been so obsessed with 'Roo dresses, my boyfriend made me a bet that I can't wear a skirt or dress every day until September 1. I'll take that bet!

I agree that the treseme dry shampoo works well. I have only tried the oily/straight spray but it works perfect for my hair. I use it all the time. I've tried tons of dry shampoos, including some really expensive ones and this works better than anything I've tried so far.
I just figured out this weekend that I don't need to buy any new clothes for Roo! Super excited about that because I splurged and bought things like a cot and extra tarps and tapestries and such that I didn't really need but really really wanted. So now I have money freed up to buy another tapestry, right?
I clicked on the link for the barrettes and now I want some! No no no no no!
DO ITTTTTT.
I have been SO GOOD this year. I have not bought one new thing for Bonnaroo (because I've spent the last 3 years stocking up!). We're only 3 weeks out now, and I refuse to give in!!
